28 Figure 14: Inverter DC Cnnectins Selecting a Residual Current Device (RCD) IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE All SlarEdge inverters incrprate a certified internal Residual Current Device (RCD) in rder t prtect against pssible electrcutin and fire hazard in case f a malfunctin in the PV array, cables r inverter. There are 2 trip threshlds fr the RCD as required fr certificatin (DIN VDE ). The default value fr electrcutin prtectin is 30 ma, and fr slw rising current is 300 ma. NOTE Fr multiple inverters, an RCD per inverter is required. Chapter 4: Cnnecting the AC and the Strings t the Inverter If an external RCD is required by lcal regulatins, check which type f RCD is required fr the relevant electric cde. Install the residual-current device (RCD) in accrdance with the applicable lcal standards and directives. SlarEdge recmmends using a type-a RCD. The recmmended RCD value is 100mA r 300mA unless a lwer value is required by the specific lcal electric cdes. Fr extended pwer three phase inverters (SE25K, SE27.6K and SE33.3K) an RCD value f 300mA shuld be used. When required by lcal regulatins, the use f an RCD type B is permitted. In installatins where the lcal electric cde requires an RCD with a lwer leakage setting, the discharge current might result in nuisance tripping f the external RCD. The fllwing steps are recmmended t avid nuisance tripping f the external RCD: Select the apprpriate RCD fr crrect peratin f the installatin: An RCD with a rating f 30 ma may actually trip at a leakage as lw as 15 ma (accrding t IEC 61008). High quality RCDs will typically trip at a value clser t their rating. Cnfigure the trip vltage f the inverter's internal RCD t a lwer value than the trip current f the external RCD. The internal RCD will trip if the current is higher than the allwed current, but because the internal inverter RCD autmatically resets when the residual currents are lw it saves the manual reset. Fr detailed infrmatin, refer t the RCD Selectin fr SlarEdge Inverters Applicatin Nte, available n the SlarEdge website at Demand Respnse Enabling Device (DRED) Accrding t the AS/NZS standard, SlarEdge inverters set t any Australia r New Zealand cuntry setting may require cnnecting an external Demand Respnse Enabling Device (DRED, prvided by the utility) t the inverter pwer reductin interface (PRI).
