Every PACMAN and Ms PACMAN game has the same main circuit bard inside. Over the twenty+ years since it was intrduced, several new games have been written t run n the PACMAN main bard. It is nw pssible t remve and discard all f the riginal prgram ROMs frm the main bard and t fit sixteen different versins f the sftware n ne ROM.

These are nt emulatins, this is all the riginal cde running n the riginal game bard. Play FAST and SLOW versins f all the games. The riginal PACMAN game is referred t as SLOW. Within a few mnths f it's release, hackers had figured ut hw t change a few bytes f cde t make the yellw PACMAN character mve twice as FAST, while the bad guys went the same ld speed. This SPEED-UP ptin is ne f the mst ppular prgrams f all times, and almst every arcade game has this FAST versin installed. Yu can play it BOTH WAYS! 3

On higher levels, eating a pellet may nt turn all the ghsts blue, and smetimes hides the maze fr a time! Hwever, eating a fruit will scare the ghsts and allw players t scre up t 3200 pints eating them! MS. PACMAN AFTER DARK Figure 9 - Ms. Pac-man After Dark Everything's lit up like a nen sign except the maze! Yu'll have t remember yur MS. PACMAN mazes t make it thrugh safely. If yur game crashes because the ROMs are ld and the legs are rusting ff them r the ribbn cable has becme brittle, THROW THEM ALL AWAY! 13 Super ABC Installatin Instructins Cngratulatins n yur purchase f the Super ABC kit frm TWO-BIT SCORE. This kit is designed t plug directly int any riginal Midway PACMAN r MS. PACMAN circuit bard. Once installed, the main bard will n lnger use the game ROMS lcated at 5E, 5F, 6E, 6F, 6H, and 6J (and, if prvided, 6L, 6M, 6N, r 6P), r the '285' Sync Buss Cntrller card lcated at lcatin 6D. Please read the fllwing instructins THOROUGHLY and COMPLETELY befre sitting dwn t wrk. The nly tls necessary t install the kit are a flat surface n which t wrk, a piece f cardbard t place under the game bard, and the chip-pulling tl prvided. Always use the chip puller t remve chips, NOT a screwdriver r ther pinted instrument. An rdinary pair f nail clippers may be useful t cut ff the ld ty-wrap in step tw. STEP E: Unplug the edge cnnectr frm the tp f yur PACMAN r MS. PACMAN circuit bard, and remve it frm the cabinet. Place it n a piece f CLEAN CARDBOARD n a firm, flat wrk surface. STEP TWO: Lcate and carefully remve the small square circuit bard at lcatin 6D n the main bard. This bard is labeled "Z-80 SYNC BUSS CTROLLER" and is strapped t the main bard with a plastic ty-wrap. The ty-wrap must be carefully cut s as t avid cutting any traces n the main bard. This is easily accmplished with an rdinary pair f nail clippers. Set this small bard aside. It is n lnger used as its functin is included in the Super ABC. STEP THREE: Using the chip puller prvided, remve any ROMs frm the main bard at lcatins 6E, 6F, 6H, and 6J. They are n lnger used. Nte: if yur bard has sckets added at 6K & 6L, pull the chips ut f them and cut any jumper wires that may be sldered frm the chips t the bard! STEP FOUR: Using the chip puller, remve the tw biplar PROMs frm their sckets at lcatins 4A & 7F. Install the NEW 4A & 7F (supplied) int their apprpriate lcatins n the bard, making sure the plarity ntch n each chip is facing in the same directin as all f the ther chips n the bard. STEP FIVE: PACMAN bards: CAREFULLY remve the Z-80 prcessr chip frm the 40 pin scket at lcatin 6B n the main game bard. MS. PACMAN bards: Unplug the ribbn cable frm lcatin 6B n the main game bard and then CAREFULLY remve the Z-80 prcessr chip frm the 40 pin scket at lcatin U4 n the small daughterbard at the ther end f the ribbn cable. Set the daughterbard and cable aside as they are n lnger used. STEP SIX: Plug the Z-80 int the empty 40 pin scket n the Super ABC bard, being certain the plarity ntch matches the directin f the ther chips n the bard. 12

14 STEP SEVEN: Make sure yur cardbard sheet is in place under the game bard and CAREFULLY insert the Super ABC bard int the sckets n the main bard at lcatins 6B & 6D. Make sure ALL the pins line up prperly befre inserting. Then, placing yur palm ver the tw sckets, press dwn firmly t seat the bard. Yu may have t put quite a bit f weight n it t get it t g all the way in. When finished, the Super ABC circuit bard shuld be FLAT and PARALLEL with the main game bard. Use the tywraps prvided t secure the Super ABC bard t the game bard. They shuld pass thrugh three hles; tw n the Super ABC, ne n the main game bard. STEP EIGHT: Remve the character ROM chips at lcatins 5E & 5F and set them aside. They are n lnger used. STEP NINE: As with the Super ABC bard, CAREFULLY insert the Character ROM bard int lcatins 5E & 5F n the main bard, being certain that the ntch n the 5E-5F character chip faces in the same directin as the ntch n all the chips n the main bard. Once prperly lined up, press dwn firmly t seat it well. STEP TEN: Cnnect the 5-wire harness between the 5E-5F Character ROM bard and the Super ABC bard. If this cable is nt installed yu will have a BLACK SCREEN. STEP ELEVEN: Lcate the 74LS161 chip at lcatin 3R n yur game bard. IF IT IS IN A SOCKET, replace it with the new 74LS161 prvided in the kit. If it is sldered dwn, it is nt necessary t replace it. STEP TWELVE: Check yur DIP switch settings against the chart belw and return yur game bard t the cabinet. Trubleshting The game seems t be running, but all I see are blcks (r distrted characters) mving arund! The Character ROM bard isn't seated firmly r prperly. Ensure that all the pins are lined up prperly and the bard is inserted facing the right way. Try pushing it dwn a little harder. On pwer up, the game fails t cme up t the attract mde screen. It may have garbage frzen r flashing n the screen. The Super ABC bard either isn't in tight enugh r isn't in prperly. Make sure that all f the pins are lined up and try a firm push. Be certain that dip switch 8 is turned ff. The game runs, but the nly game I can play is Slw PACMAN! The NVRAM at lcatin U17 has failed. Cntact TWOBIT.COM Hw d I clear the high scre table and check the bkkeeping? Enter test mde via the cabinet switch lcated near the cin dr hinge. Then hld the E PLAYER DOWN and E PLAYER START switches simultaneusly fr apprximately 7 secnds and fllw the n-screen directins. 13

15 DIP Switch Settings Nte cncerning DIP SWITCH #6: During the game ULTRA PACMAN there is a rare 'butterfly' which appears. Eating the butterfly awards the player either an extra man r an extra credit depending n the setting f DIP switch #6. DIP SWITCH #6 ALSO turns the BUY-IN feature and.
