Because of this, the radio-controed timekeeping and Word Time functions wi not dispay the correct time for Newfoundand, Canada. Keep the watch exposed to bright ight The eectricity generated by the soar ce of the watch is Bright Light stored by a buit-in battery. Leaving or using the watch where it is not exposed to ight causes the battery to run down. Make sure the watch is exposed to ight as much as Soar ce possibe. Battery charges in the ight. Battery discharges in the dark. Soar ce (Converts ight to eectrica power.) Bright Light Eectrica energy The actua eve at which some functions are disabed depends on the watch mode. Frequent dispay iumination can run down the battery quicky and require charging. The foowing guideines give an idea of the charging time required to recover from a singe iumination operation. pproximatey 5 minutes exposure to bright sunight coming in through a window pproximatey 50 minutes exposure to indoor fuorescent ighting Be sure to read Power Suppy for important information you need to know when exposing the watch to bright ight. 2 Time Caibration Signa Reception There are two different methods you can use to receive the time caibration signa: auto receive and manua receive. uto Receive With auto receive, the watch automaticay picks up the time caibration signa five times a day at 0:00 a.m., 1:00 a.m., 2:00 a.m., 3:00 a.m., and 4:00 a.m. For more information, see bout uto Receive. Manua Receive Manua receive ets you start time caibration signa reception with the press of a button. For more information, see To perform manua receive. Important! When getting ready to receive the time caibration signa, position the watch as shown in the nearby iustration, with its 12 o cock side facing towards a window. This watch is designed to receive a time caibration signa ate at night. Because of this, you shoud pace the watch near a window as shown in the iustration when you take it off at night. Make sure there are no meta objects nearby. When auto receive is turned on, the watch receives the caibration signa for two to seven minutes everyday when the time in the Timekeeping Mode reaches each of the five caibration times. Do not perform any button operation within seven minutes before or after any of the five caibration times. Doing so can interfere with correct caibration. Remember that reception of the caibration signa depends on the time kept in the digita dispay. The reception wi be performed whenever the dispay shows one of the five caibration times, regardess of whether or not the dispayed time is actuay the correct time. When two, three, four, or five receptions are successfu, the watch uses the data of the ast reception for caibration. When ony one reception is successfu, the watch uses the data of the successfu reception. bout the Receiving Indicator The receiving indicator shows the strength of the caibration signa being received. For best reception, be sure to keep the watch in a ocation where signa strength is strongest. Receiving indicator Resin Band Meta Band Weak Strong (Leve 1) (Leve 4) Make sure the watch is facing the right way. When within range of the appicabe transmitter, this watch can receive either the U.S. (Fort Coins, Coorado) or Japanese (Fukushima or Fukuoka/Saga) time caibration signa. Radio interferance may aso cause probems with reception. Even when the watch is within the reception range of the transmitter, signa reception wi be impossibe if the signa is bocked by mountains or other geoogica formations between the watch and signa source. Signa reception is affected by weather, atmospheric conditions, and seasona changes. Use the receiving indicator as a guide for checking signa strength and for finding the best ocation for the watch during signa reception. The Leve 4 receiving indicator appears on the Timekeeping Mode s Receiving Indicator and Seconds Count screen ony. The Leve 4 receiving indicator is not dispayed if signa reception was unsuccessfu or after manua adjustment of the current time setting.
