This watch does not have a city code that corresponds to the UT offset of. hours. ecause of this, the radio-controed atomic timekeeping function wi not dispay the correct time for Newfoundand, anada. Keep the watch exposed to bright ight The eectricity generated by the soar ce of the watch is right ight stored by a buit-in battery. Leaving or using the watch where it is not exposed to ight causes the battery to run down. Make sure the watch is exposed to ight as much as possibe. When you are not wearing the watch on your wrist, Soar ce position the face so it is pointed at a source of bright ight. You shoud try to keep the watch outside of your seeve as much as possibe. Even if the face of the watch is bocked ony partiay from ight, charging wi be reduced significanty. Soar ce (onverts ight to eectrica power.) The watch continues to operate, even when it is not exposed to ight. Leaving the watch in the dark can cause the battery to run down, which wi resut in some watch functions to be disabed. The iustration shown beow shows how you shoud position the watch for charging. Exampe: Orient the watch so its face is Soar ce pointing at a ight source. The iustration shows how to position a watch with a resin band. Note that charging efficiency drops when any part of the soar ce is bocked by cothing, etc. You shoud try to keep the watch outside of your seeve as much as possibe. Even if the face of the watch is bocked from ight ony partiay, charging wi be reduced significanty.

5 Operation Guide 0 Important! Storing the watch for ong periods in an area where there is no ight or wearing it in such a way that it is bocked from exposure to ight can cause rechargeabe battery power to run down. Make sure that the watch is exposed to bright ight whenever possibe. This watch uses a specia rechargeabe battery to store power produced by the soar ce, so reguar battery repacement is not required. However, after very ong use, the rechargeabe battery may ose its abiity to achieve a fu charge. If you experience probems getting the specia rechargeabe battery to charge fuy, contact your deaer or ASIO distributor about having it repaced. The specia rechargeabe (secondary) battery used by your watch is not intended to be removed or repaced by you. Use of a rechargeabe battery other than the specia one specified for this watch can damage the watch. The current time and a other settings return to their initia factory defauts whenever the watch is eft uncharged for about one week after battery power drops to Leve, and when you have the battery repaced. Keep the watch in an area normay exposed to bright ight when storing it for ong periods. This heps to keep the rechargeabe battery from going dead. attery Power Leves The movement of the anaog s indicates the current battery power eve. Leve Hand Movement Function Status Norma. Auto Return Features If you do not perform any operation for about two or three minutes in the current time setting mode, or in the /day home position correction mode, the watch wi return to the Timekeeping Mode automaticay. If you do not perform any operation for about two or three minutes whie a setting mode is seected, the watch wi exit the setting mode automaticay. High-Speed Movement In most cases when configuring settings, hoding down a button wi start high-speed scroing of the appicabe setting. High-speed movement of s and day wi continue unti you press any button. Radio-controed Atomic Timekeeping Precautions Strong eectrostatic charge can resut in the wrong time being set. The time caibration signa bounces off the ionosphere. ecause of this, such factors as changes in the refectivity of the ionosphere, as we as movement of the ionosphere to higher atitudes due to seasona atmospheric changes or the time of day may change the reception range of the signa and make reception temporariy impossibe. Even if the time caibration signa is received propery, certain conditions can cause the time setting to be off by up to one second. The current time setting in accordance with the time caibration signa takes priority over any time settings you make manuay. The watch is designed to update the date and day of the week automaticay for the period January, 000 to ecember, 099. Setting of the date by the time caibration signa wi not be performed starting from January, 00. This watch can receive signas that differentiate between eap years and non-eap years. If you are in an area where proper time caibration signa reception is impossibe, the watch keeps time with the precision noted in Specifications. Timekeeping The year can be set in the range of 000 to 099. The watch s buit-in fu automatic caendar makes aowances for different month engths and eap years. Once you set the date, there normay shoud be no reason to change it.
