Kameo-75 - partitioning system Method of Buid Note: For carity the cavity infi has not been shown mm Pasterboard M14 M mm Pasterboard 6mm or 6.4mm Gass M52 M mm Stee stud system with radius auminium cover trims

1.0 Soid Modue 1.1 Set out the partitioning run on the foor and mirror its ength on the ceiing using a pumb and chak ines. Aternativey, set out the partitioning run on the ceiing and mirror its ength on the foor using the same method. 1.2 Locate a ength of 835 stee track into the inside of an 821 or 867 head channe by driing and using two pop rivets. Ensure that the rivet heads are on the outside of the head channe's abutment face. If more than one ength of head channe is to be used in the partitioning run, position the interna 835 stee track inside the head channe so that it overaps by a minimum of 200mm into the next ength of head channe. 1.3 Aong the ength of the head channe abutment face appy two strips of 342 foam, 6mm in from each edge. 1.4 According to the requirement fit the jointing ceats into the ends of the head channe (884 for a straight joint, 886 for a 135" corner joint, 885 for a 90" corner joint or an 811 for a horizonta to vertica joint). 1.5 Aong the centre of the head channe, dri the fixing cearance hoes (diameter 3.2mm), at 600mm centres through both the stee and the auminium. 1.6 If required, acoustic seaant 924 may be appied to the abutment face of the head channe between the foam strips. 1.7 Fix the 821 or 867 head channe assemby, using suitabe screws and pastic pugs (if required), at a maximum of 600mm centres to the ceiing. Fix in a simiar fashion when used as the vertica abutment to was, coumns or muions. 1.8 Fix the 835 stee track to the foor by using suitabe screws and pastic pugs (if required), at a maximum of 600mm centres. 1.9 To obtain the height of each 853 vertica stee stud, measure the distance between the foor and the ceiing at each proposed position, and then deduct 18mm Using the dimension obtained in stage 1.9, measure and cut the 853 studs to ength, and ensure that a the studs are cut to size at the same end Insert the cut studs between the head channe and stee foor track at 600mm centres. Twist them into pace making sure that a the studs have the cut end, to the bottom, and are facing in the same direction (except for the door frame studs which are detaied in stage 3.6). Pumb in both vertica panes and adjust the setting out if necessary It is now possibe, if desired, to fix the vertica stee studs to the foor track by using 298 pop rivets. Using tinsnips, nick and deform the fanges of the stee head track inwards to hod the stud into pace To improve the acoustic performance, fit either the mm thick fibre gass quit or, aternativey, the mm thick Rockwoo R2/33 sab into the cavity. Pease note that it is possibe to enhance the acoustic performance of these materias by upgrading their density. The thickness, however, shoud not be increased The 880 fibre gass quit is hed in pace by cutting three tabs, each 25mm wide, into the stee head track. Press them back to retain the insuation. Aternativey, use a Corman insuhod strip. 887 Rockwoo sabs may just be stacked carefuy into pace. Care shoud be taken to ensure that a the acoustic materias are tucked into the open faces of the vertica studs to ensure a cavities are competey fied Measure the foor to ceiing height of the first and third studs and deduct 10mm to obtain the pane height When the pre-decorated panes are being used estabish the top and bottom of the panes from the hanging instructions and decoration used. Using the dimensions obtained in stage 1.15 use a sharp knife to cut away the waste materia with the pre-decorated or white face of the panes being cut first. Ensure that a cean cut and finish is produced, by removing a the oose partices of the pane or wa covering.

1.17 If the 837 auminium cip-on skirting is to be used, position three 832 skirting cips onto the bottom of the pane, two approximatey 200mm in from each edge and one centray Waboard adhesive 846 shoud now be iberay appied to the centre stud face of the modue The pre-decorated or unfinished pane can now be fixed into position Offer the prepared pane into the head channe cavity then, by ifting upwards, swing the bottom of the pane against the stee framework Check that the first pane in each run is centra and pumb to the outer studs. Then press the centre of the board firmy onto the adhesive, which has been appied to the centra stud (stage 1.18). By using the 319 drywa screws, fix the ong edges of the pane to the outer studs positioning the screws approximatey 6mm in from each edge and at a maximum of 300mm centres If unfinished panes are being used, they shoud now be decorated with the seected 1370mm wide viny or paper backed fabric, and trimmed to the pane butt joint (making sure manufacturer's hanging instructions are foowed and a excess adhesive is wiped away) Ony after the seected skirting has been fitted (see appropriate section) shoud the M14 cover trims finay be instaed The butt joint between the panes can now be conceaed with the M14 cover trim Before fitting the M14 vertica cover trim, measure the distance between the head channe and the skirting. Add 25mm to its ength and cut to size Carefuy offer the preiminary ength of cover trim into position against the pane. To one side of the two boards butt joint unti the top of the cover trim touches the underside of the head channe. Now mark ighty in penci the point at which the trim intersects with the top of skirting From the measurement obtained, cut the trim to the fina ength and insta by screw fixing at 600mm centres using 351 fange head screws (do not use drywa screws) The pastic cooured infi M15 shoud now be cut to size using the same method as in stages 1.25 to Using a rubber hammer ighty tap it into pace by starting from the head channe and moving downwards into the M14. This masks the screw fixings and competes the trim instaation. Finay, wipe both the trim and infi to cean any working marks. 2.0 Skirting 2.1 Measure, or preferaby if the ength of the partition run wi aow, take a ength of seected skirting and hod into the position required, mark ighty in penci where the cut is required. 2.2 When cip-on skirting is being used, hod the cut ength against the pane above the skirting cips (instaed at stage 1.17), and then side it downwards over the cips. Finay tap home using either a rubber hammer or timber bock and hammer. 2.3 Aways ensure that the straight butt joints of the cip-on skirting are in the centre of a singe cip. 2.4 Aways ensure that a skirting cip is positioned either side of the other 90 and 135 joints. For additiona fixing ocations insert the pastic joint ceats, used in the head channe, into the skirting.

2.5 Shoud an additiona skirting cip be required once the panes have been fixed, then the 829 masonry fixing cip may be used. This is screw fixed onto the face of the pane ensuring that the screws enter the foor track through the pane. 2.6 If secret fix skirting is being appied (having cut it to ength in stage 1.28) open up the skirting using the two inside horizonta parae ines for guidance, dri the fixing cearance hoes (diameter 3.2mm) into the pocket. The skirting is fixed through the pasterboard into the 853 stee studs. 2.7 Offer the skirting into position, check its fit and adjust if necessary. Then using the 351 fange head screws fix into pace. Cose up the skirting and wipe away any working marks. 3.0 Door frame 3.1 At the position where the door frame is required, measure the distance between the foor and the ceiing. Then cut two engths of the 853 vertica stee stud to ength (as in stages 1.9 and 1.10 for soid). 3.2 Cut the 835 foor track to the same ength and push it over the open edge of the 835 studs to form a box section. Rivet these two sections together using the 293 pop rivets. 3.3 The 331 timber infi is then inserted over the tota ength of the stud and track box assemby. 3.4 From the site pan, estabish the size of the door which is to be instaed and seect (if required) the correct size of 854 pre-bracketed door head transom. 3.5 To cacuate the dimension, between the inside of the door opening's stud faces, measure the door eaf and add 18mm for both non fire rated and fire rated frames. DIMENSION 'Z' = DOOR WIDTH + 18mm (non fire rated) + 18mm (fire rated) 3.6 With the dimension estabished, insert the prepared stud assembies between the head and foor tracks and twist them into pace. Ensure that the track faces of each boxed stud are facing each other. 3.7 Check they are accuratey set out and pumb in both vertica panes. Rivet the bottom of the stud assemby to the foor track and, by using tinsnips, nick and deform inwards the fanges of the stee head track to hod the stud into pace. 3.8 If an 854 transom is to be fitted, mark ighty in penci the top position for the transom on the vertica studs, using dimension 'T'. (DIMENSION 'T' = DOOR HEIGHT + 51mm). (Remember that the setting out detais eave a 2.5mm gap under the door. Some adjustment may be required to dimension 'T', to accommodate the different types/thickness of foor covering being aid, either prior to or after instaation of the partition.) 3.9 Having marked the transom position on the vertica studs, take the seected 854 pre-bracketed transom. Box it with an 835 stee track and infi it with 331 timber. Then, with the brackets pointing upwards, screw fix or rivet the transom onto the vertica stud ensuring that it is eve If a soid pane is required above the door this shoud now be measured. Make sure that the width is equa to the door frame's vertica stud centres and that the height is equa to the distance between the ceiing and the bottom edge of the transom minus 5mm.

3.11 Once the acoustic infi has been instaed (as at stage 1.14), the cut pane shoud be pushed as far as possibe into the head channe so that the pane is positioned back from the bottom edge of the transom. Fix it into pace using 319 drywa screws The fu height pane, adjacent to the door frame, shoud be fitted onto the door frame studs so that they are positioned back from the edge of the studs opening by 3 to 5mm If gazing adjacent to a door frame pease see the appropriate instructions After the panes or the gazing is instaed, unwrap the M58 door frame kit. A three parts shoud be aid fat, in a safe area, unti required Pick up the door head (without the rubber sea) and offer it up to the transom. Ensure that the door stop is in the correct direction and screw-fix it into position using the 311 door frame screws. Take care so that the dri and screwdriver chucks do not damage the door frame stop To obtain the ength of the door frame egs pace a piece of packing materia (1 mm thick maximum) onto the foor next to the door frame's vertica stud. Invert the door frame eg so that the mitre is carefuy paced on the packer and against the upright stud. Now mark ighty in penci, the bottom of the door frame eg where it intersects the top of the door head mitre From the measurement obtained, trim the bottom of the door frame eg to size (fire rated door frames do not require interna stee iner) Offer the trimmed door fame eg, at an ange of approximatey 30, to the mitre ceat which protrudes from the door head. By pushing upwards swing it towards and over the vertica stud Check that the door frame eg is positioned against and centra to the vertica stud Using a boster chise, wedge the door frame eg upwards to cose the mitre. Before removing the wedge screw, fix the door frame eg into pace using the 311 door frame screws Take the short ength of the 868 rubber sea and square cut it to suit the door head size. Then press fit it into pace so that the ongest soft eg is positioned on the door stop side The onger engths of the 868 rubber sea shoud then be square cut at the bottom and beak cut at the top to suit the ength of the door frame the eg. Pressing them into pace The door frame is now ready for the chosen door to be hung (do not forget to remove penci markings). Note: Shoud the instaed partitioning be erected directy onto a carpet or raised foor, with a construction of doors hanging either side of an office dividing wa, the resuting compression may require the use of additiona shims, at the junction, to maintain the partitioning's horizonta eve. 4.0 Gazing 4.1 In the same way as for a soid partitioning modue (stages 1.1 to 1.8) insta the head channe, abutments and foor track. 4.2 Carefuy measure and cut the 853 vertica studs to ength (as stages 1.9 and 1.10). Insert the first stud into pace making sure it is the correct way up and pumb in both vertica panes. 4.3 Now fix the stud into the foor track by using the 298 pop rivets. Using tinsnips, nick and deform the fanges of the stee head track inwards, to hod the stud into pace.

4.4 Ascertain from the site pan and by checking the pre-assembed windows suppied, the actua gazed eevation to be instaed. 4.5 Unwrap the seected pre-assembed window frame carefuy removing the screws and gazing cover trims. These have been pre-cut to size and packaged inside the frame ready for insertion after the gazing. 4.6 The pre-cut gazing trims and screws shoud now be aid fat in a safe area unti required (if more than one window frame is being instaed it is recommended that the gazing beads are kept and identified in sets). 4.7 To obtain the dimension between the studs' inside upright faces, seect the window frame and measure the horizonta interna frame size and add 18mm. 4.8 Once the distance between the stud faces has been estabished and by referring to the setting out detais, seect the correct size of 854 pre-bracketed transom. 4.9 The second vertica stud may now be positioned, but not fixed into pace Estabish the vertica size of the frame, and refer to the setting out detais to determine the correct position for the bottom transom On the first vertica stud, mark the position of the top of this ower transom. Then by using a suitabe eve transfer the mark to the second stud Having determined the position of the transom, cut a piece of 835 foor track section equa in ength to the interna height of the window frame. Position this over the open edge of the 853 stud to form a box section to the window aperture. Rivet it into pace using the 298 pop rivets Take the seected 854 pre-bracketed transom. With brackets pointing downwards, pace it inside the foor track between vertica studs. This is for safe-keeping and ease of assemby ater If erecting fu height, haf or top gazed eevations, insta a suitabe ength of 853 stud into the head track and between the vertica studs Where a mid gazed or gazed to door head eevation is required, take the seected 854 pre-bracketed transom stored in the foor track (stage 4.13). Using 302 pan head screws, oosey fix it at the marked positions (stage 4.11) between the vertica studs Take the unwrapped pre-assembed window frame, ensuring that the factory fixed gazing beads on the singe offset and centre gazed frames are to the inside of the office being constructed. Offer the assemby between the vertica studs and, if required, side it upwards into the head channe On fu height, haf or mid gazed eevations hod the frame into position, pick up the transom stored inside the foor track and butt it to the underside of the window frame assemby. Screw fix it into pace using the 302 pan head screws. If mid gazed or gazed to door head are required the transom security screws shoud be fuy tightened The second vertica stud shoud now be pushed tighty onto the window frame and ocked into pace in the same manner as the first stud (stage 4.2). Make sure it is aso pumb in both vertica panes Subject to the gazing eevation seected, fix the securing transom on top of the window assemby with both brackets pointing upwards Repeat this window insertion process progressivey aong the partitioning run. Insert the 836 pasterboard packing strips verticay between stud and the window frame. At the same time cut and insert suitabe size pasterboard strips between the stee head track and the window frames as shown in the detais.

4.21 Instaing fu height or banded gazing. Before fitting the gazing cover strip M25, measure the distance between the underside of the head channe and the foor and deduct 75mm. Cut the section to size Take a fu ength of M27 skirting and ay it in position against the window frame. (It is important that a fu ength of skirting is used, as the use of a sma off cut wi not aow for the foor runout.) 4.23 Carefuy offer the preiminary cut ength (stage 4.21) of gazing cover strip against the window frame ensuring the top is touching the underside of the head channe. Mark, ighty in penci, the point at which the trim intersects the top of the skirting From the measurement obtained cut the strip to the fina ength Insta the cover strip by pushing it over the edge of the window frame, working from the head channe downwards For haf and mid gazed eevations use the M14 cover trim and M15 pastic infi (do not use the M25 gazing cover strip as the pane joint must aso be masked) Prepare and insta the M15 and M14 sections using the same method as for soid partition modues (stages 1.23 to 1.28) Where required (haf and mid gazed), cut and fit a the intermediate studs above and beow the window frames To improve the acoustic performance above and beow the gazing, fit either the mm thick fibregass quit or the mm thick Rockwoo R2/33 sab (as at stage 1.14) When gazing at dado height, estabish the size of the pre-decorated or unfinished pasterboards for fitting beow the window frames. This is cacuated by measuring the distance between the foor and the dado eve and deducting 5mm. DIMENSION 'W' = DADO HEIGHT - 5mm 4.31 To estabish the size of panes above the gazing, measure the distance between the top of the window frame and the ceiing and deduct 5mm. Note: If pre-decorated panes are to be used above and beow the gazing, it is recommended that they shoud be cut from the same board and used in a singe modue to keep continuity in pattern, coour and pane ine If the 837 cip on skirting is being used, the bottom panes shoud be fitted with 832 skirting cips (as at stage 1.17) Insta pre-decorated or unfinished panes using the same method as for soid partitioning modues (see stages 1.18 to 1.27) The skirting shoud now be fitted (see stages 1.28 to 2.6) Unscrew and remove the oose fixed stee gazing retainer from the window frame ready to insert the gass. For non-fire rated appications the system wi accept 6mm toughened or 6.4mm aminated gass. For fire rated appications any of the approved fire safety gasses detaied in the Gazed Fire Resistance Summary of Performance may be used. A appications of gazing must conform to British Standard 6262:1982 and be instaed in accordance with Document 'N' of the Buiding Reguations Offer the bottom edge of the sheet of gass into the window frame against the factory pre-fitted stee gazing retaining bead. Ensure that the bottom edge of the gass remains hard against the pre-fitted bead whist pushing the gass into pace With assistance, hod the gass in pace and using suitabe gazing packing shims, adjust the gass verticay and horizontay so that it is equay positioned within the window frame aperture.

4.38 Take the stee gazing retaining bead removed at stage 4.35 and repace it into the iner to retain the gass. It is important that the stee retaining bead is sitting square into the ocation groove. Each ength must be secured using 301 no.6 x 5/16" sef tapping screws, with one screw in every fourth hoe pus one at each end The pastic gazing cover bead removed at stage 4.5 shoud now be retrieved from safe storage. Seect the required pre-cut ength and pace the edge of the bead in the pre-mouded sot of the window frame. Aow the bead to fa at an ange onto the stee gazing retainer. Starting from one corner push the pastic gazing bead pip into the stee retaining bead to secure Finay, cean a the partition meta work by wiping down using a damp coth with a soution of washing up iquid and warm water.
