Press the sync button and aign the R sync windows of the transmitter and receiver. The encryption key icon wi appear on the transmitter screen when the R sync is compete and the encryption key has been transferred from the receiver. Additiona transmitters can share the same encryption key with a singe receiver. Perform an R sync to encrypt each additiona transmitter. Note: When OFF is seected to disabe encryption, perform an R sync to cear the encryption key from the transmitter and prevent an encryption mismatch error or FAL message. Test the transmitter at performance eves when adjusting the gain. Monitor the audio meter and the audio LED to prevent overoads. TV hr mn channe rf audio gain db Audio Signa Encryption The QLX-D receiver features Advanced Encryption Standard (AES-256) to protect the audio signa. When encryption is enabed, the receiver generates a unique encryption key which is shared with a the transmitter during an R sync. Transmitters and receivers that share an encryption key form a protected audio path, preventing unauthorized access by other receivers. To maintain security, components remain encrypted when turned off and on. Creating an Encrypted Audio Channe 1. Press the menu button to navigate to the encryption menu, indicated by the key icon. 2. Use the arrow buttons to seect an encryption option: on = encryption enabed OFF = encryption disabed 3. Press enter to save. The key icon wi be shown on the receiver dispay. Removing Encryption < 15 cm (6 in.) 1. Press the menu button to navigate to the encryption menu. 2. Seect OFF. 3. Press enter to save. 4. R sync the transmitter and receiver to cear the encryption key from the transmitter and prevent an encryption key mismatch between components, indicated by a FAL message. Note: f encryption has been set from off to on, the receiver wi generate a new encryption key and must be R synced to the transmitter to share the new key. System Set Up Creating Audio Channes A wireess audio channe is formed when a receiver and transmitter are tuned to the same frequency. To ease setup, frequencies avaiabe to the QLX-D system are organized into groups and channes. Each group contains a number of channes, and each channe is assigned to a specific preset frequency. The QLX-D system provides 3 methods for tuning the receiver and transmitter to the same frequency: Scan and R Sync: The receiver scans the RF spectrum for the best avaiabe frequency and an R sync automaticay tunes the transmitter to the receiver frequency Manua Group and Channe Assignment: Manuay setting the receiver and transmitter to the same group and channe number forms an audio channe Manua Frequency Assignment: Manuay setting the receiver and transmitter to the same frequency rather than using groups and channes forms an audio channe 17/34

18 QLX-D Wireess System Shure ncorporated mportant: Before you begin a scan or frequency assignment: Turn off: A transmitters for system you are setting up to prevent interference with frequency scans. Turn on: The foowing potentia sources of interference incuding other wireess systems, computers, CD payers, arge LED panes, and effects processors to prevent seection of occupied frequencies. 4. sync good appears on the dispay when R sync is compete. The bue rf LED wi iuminate indicating that the transmitter is within range of the receiver. Note: f the R sync fais, repeat the R sync procedure, carefuy maintaining aignment between the R windows of the transmitter and receiver. Scan and R Sync The simpest way to create an audio channe is to use the scan function to find the best avaiabe receiver channe, and then use the R sync feature to automaticay tune the transmitter to the receiver channe. Step 1: Scanning to Find the Best Channe The Scan function automaticay seects the best avaiabe receiver channe. 1. Navigate to the Scan menu option. 2. Press enter to start the scan. 3. When the scan is compete, the channe wi appear on the dispay. Network Scan channe scan The Network Scan feature automates frequency assignment by using a singe receiver to scan and depoy frequencies to a networked receiver within the same frequency band. Network Scanning and Frequency Depoyment 1. Connect receivers to an active Ethernet network. A receivers must be on the same subnet. 2.
