1 /2.12 The METRA HIT 27M is a compact miiohm resistance meter pus mutimeter and thermometer for the measurement of ow-vaue contact resistance on aircraft outer skins (ightning protection, wick test), and for genera ow-resistance measurements. The METRA HIT 27I is used additionay for service and repair work performed on airpane and heicopter eectrica systems (votage, insuation, miiohm and temperature measurement). In addition to its own mutimeter functions for eectrica quantities, the instrument aso incudes a mega-ohm measuring function with insuation test votages of 50, 100, 250 and 500 V, as we as temperature measurement with Pt100 and Pt1000 sensors. 2 Appications The METRA HIT 27 is a compact, rugged and reiabe instrument, which is equay suitabe for precision measuring and recording tasks in the factory, for on-site service and in the aboratory: Adjustment of shunts in instrumentation Testing of eectrica connections at conductor bars for openpit mining, in potentia bonding systems, and for industria and househod appications Testing of cabe resistance, wiring, shunt resistors in PCBs and thick-fim circuits Measurement of contact resistance in reays, contactors and power interrupters Testing of resistance in fuses, as we as conductor resistance in heavy current circuits Testing of winding resistance in transformers, cois, sma motors etc. Testing of discharge resistance on aircraft, and at aircraft outer skin components Contact resistance testing in uninterruptibe power suppies Measurement of ce votages, for exampe in on-board batteries and emergency power suppies Contact resistance testing at weding seams Genera The METRA HIT 27 miiohm resistance meters are the modern aternative for the we known TH2 (Thomson) and Wh2 (Wheatstone) measuring bridges. They provide an expanded measuring range, greater accuracy and easier reading. As universa measuring and test instruments, they acquire and record vaues to an integrated memory modue incuding resistance in the miiohm and micro-ohm ranges, as we as norma mutimeter resistance vaues in the ohm to mega-ohm ranges by feeding a measuring current to the resistor, conductor or contact under test. The respective measuring current is determined by the rotary seector switch setting and ies within a range of 1 to 0.02 A in the miiohm ranges. The instrument aso measures and records insuation resistance (METRA HIT 27I ony) with test votage seectabe in steps, for exampe in order to test resistance in on-board eectrica systems for aircraft, ocean going vesses etc., and for testing overvotage arresters and much more. Easy Operation Operation is very easy. Simpy connect the ow-resistance device under test to the instrument with the incuded measurement cabes, Kevin cips or 4-poe probes (KC27), and seect the idea measuring range. Integrated Measured Vaue Memory and Interface Each METRA HIT 27 is equipped with a measured vaue memory modue and can thus be utiized as a data ogger or a recording instrument for a measuring functions. Measurement resuts can be transmitted to a PC either off-ine via the optica interface which is furnished as standard equipment, or onine with an optiona bidirectiona adapter. In this way, for exampe, characteristic votage and temperature curves (see figure beow) can be dispayed and anayzed in ine recorder format reative to rea-time, or individua measured vaues, e.g. votages for each of the ces in a storage battery, can be saved with the DATA Hod function and anayzed at a PC in tabuar form. METRAwin 10/METRA HIT (software option): Recorded characteristic temperature curve and triggering characteristics (2-channe recording with 2 METRA HIT instruments) pus evauation at a PC METRAwin 10/METRA HIT Software Option Measurement data recorded to the measured vaue memory modue can be evauated at a PC if required with the hep of the IR interface suppied as standard equipment and a bidirectiona IR adapter (BD adapter) with conversion to the RS 232 protoco. METRAwin 10/METRA HIT software (see above figure) is recommended to this end, and is suitabe for dispay, anaysis and documentation of measurement resuts using Windows 98, NT, 2000, XP, VISTA or 7. The software is avaiabe as an accessory. User-friendy compete packages (e.g. the BD Pack or the compete METRA HIT 27AS case) are easy to connect and insta and incude everything required for high performance measurement data processing. Offset Baancing Automatic offset baancing is provided for the ower measuring ranges. Manua offset baancing, as required with the METRA HIT 17 predecessor mode, is thus no onger necessary. Protection Against Operator Error The METRA HIT 27 is safeguarded against erroneous short-term connection to devices under test with faut votages of up to 600 V by means of protective devices. Test Functions and Automatic Functions A METRA HIT 27 instruments are equipped with diode and continuity test functions, as we as automatic and manua measuring range seection and battery shutdown. Protective Cover for Harsh Conditions The device features a very compact, rugged design. Beyond this, it is protected against damage in the event of impacts or dropping by means of a soft rubber cover with tit stand. The rubber materia aso assures that the instrument does not wander if it is set up on a vibrating surface. 6 Accessories (See aso tabe Order Information beow) The foowing accessories, some of which are incuded as standard equipment, are recommended for use with the METRA HIT 27: Miiohm Measurement with Type KC4 Kevin Cips Kevin cips are suitabe for estabishing contact between the METRA HIT 27 and ow-resistance devices under test. They compensate for infuence resuting from cabe and contact resistance. The KC4 set incudes two cips with insuated, twist-resistant jaws and good camping action. They can be used for estabishing contact with very fine wires, up to rais and rods with a maximum diameter of 15 mm. 4-poe connection is highy advisabe for the measurement of vaues of ess than 30. Temperature Measurement with Z3409 / Current Measurement with CP330 The Z3409 is just one of many temperature sensors which can be seected from a wide ranging product spectrum.
