3 Intrductin ZTS-00 Z-Thermstat Welcme t the Z-Wave wrld f hme autmatin, yur ZTS-00 Z-Thermstat (Figure ) is a cmfrt cntrl master that allws t cntrl yur rm temperature with prgrammable time schedule, AWAY, HOME and SLEEP event which can maximize energy cnservatin and cmfrt while minimizing the effrt required t maintain the apprpriate temperature in yur hme whether yu are at hme r away. Als, it can be utilized t cntrl / check yur rm temperature by the smart phne r PC while yu are at ffice, hme anywhere r arund the wrld which can g thrugh the Z-Wave gateway cntrl. ZTS-00 can be cnfigured as either "Frequently Listening Ruting Slaves" (FLiRS) r "Always Listening" nde and it will distinguish the pwer surce (batteries r 24Vac) autmatically and switch t apprpriate mde during inclusin stage. FLiRS nde type is targeted fr battery perated applicatins and will enter sleep mde frequently in rder t cnserve battery cnsumptin that can prvide flexibility if there is ut f 24Vac pwer line. Always Listening nde type is targeted fr AC pwer perated applicatins and it can act as a repeater, which will re-transmit the RF signal t ensure that the signal is received by its intended destinatin by ruting the signal arund bstacle and radi dead spts. 5 Glssary Device r Nde Inclusin Exclusin Remve Netwrk Wide Inclusin (NWI) Z-Wave Netwrk Primary Cntrller Secndary Cntrller Devices and ndes are all terms t describe an individual Z- Wave device. These are all interchangeable when setting up yur Z-Wave netwrk. Add a Z-Wave device t the netwrk. Delete a Z-Wave device frm the netwrk. T take a device ut f a grup, scene r assciatin grup while that device still exists in the same Z-Wave netwrk. Netwrk Wide Inclusin (NWI) enables bth end-user friendly, Plug and Play like Z-Wave netwrk installatin as well as prfessinal installatin scenari where the inclusin prcess in terms f time will be reduced significantly. NWI is a feature supprted by a new frame type named Explrer which enables the Z-Wave prtcl t implement Adaptive Surce Ruting. A cllectin f Z-Wave devices is cntrlled by primary and secndary cntrllers perating n the same system. A Z- Wave netwrk has its wn unique ID cde s that cntrllers nt in the netwrk cannt cntrl the system. The first cntrller is used t set up yur devices and netwrk. Only the Primary Cntrller can be used t include r delete devices frm a netwrk. It is recmmended that yu mark the primary cntrller fr each netwrk fr ease in mdifying yur netwrk. A cntrller cntaining netwrk infrmatin abut ther devices within the netwrk and is used fr cntrlling devices. Secndary cntrller is created frm the Primary Cntrller and cannt include r delete devices t the netwrk. 4

6 Inclusin Cntrller Scene Assciatin A cntrller cntaining netwrk infrmatin abut ther devices within the netwrk and is used fr cntrlling devices. Inclusin cntrller is created frm the Primary Cntrller in a SIS enabled Z-Wave netwrk. Inclusin Cntrller has the ability t add and remve devices frm the netwrk. A cllectin f Z-Wave devices cnfigured t turn t a specific level, setting, mde, r perfrm an peratin. Scenes are usually activated by a cntrller, timed event, r specific cnditins. Assciatin is used t rganize ndes in different grups allwing the device t identify the ndes by a grup identifier. The grups can als be cpied t ther devices. Physical Installatin and Wiring CAUTION - Read the enclsed instructins carefully befre installing yur new Z- Thermstat. Pay clse attentin t all warnings and ntes and carefully fllw the installatin steps in the rder they are presented t save time and minimize the risk f damaging the thermstat r the system it cntrls. - Turn ff ZTS-00 and the electrnic devices (e.g. heater, cler) which will be cnnected and the electric surce befre installatin and maintenance. It is highly recmmended that the installatin prcedure is prcessed by trained persnnel. Battery safety! - Use new batteries f the recmmended type and size nly. - Never mix used and new batteries tgether. - T avid chemical leaks, remve batteries frm the ZTS-00 if yu d nt intend t use the unit fr an extended perid f time. - Dispse f used batteries prperly; d nt burn r bury them. 5

7 Installatin Lcatin: The Thermstat is restricted t be used in indr nly. It shuld be munted n an inner wall abut.5m abve the flr at a psitin where it is readily affected by changes f the general rm temperature with freely circulating air. Avid munting abve r near ht surfaces r equipment (e.g. TV, heater, refrigeratr). Avid munting where it will be expsed t direct sunshine, drafts, r in a laundry rm r ther enclsed space. D nt expse this unit t dripping r splashing. The ZTS-00 can be pwered by alkaline batteries AA x 4pcs r 24Vac. Cnnect the "24Vac Cmmn" (typically the black wire/terminal) and "24Vac Pwer" (typically the Red wire/terminal) frm the HVAC system t the ZTS-00 HVAC System terminal blck "C" and "RH" r "RC" terminals (the RH and RC terminals are default tied tgether). Cmmn r Split Transfrmer Systems: Mst HVAC systems have a cmmn heating and cling transfrmer. A wire is cnnected t tie the RH and RC inputs tgether fr this cnfiguratin. If yu have a system with separate heating and cling transfrmers, yu will need t discnnect the RH and RC wire. 6

8 When wiring split systems, wire the heating systems "24Vac Pwer" (red wire) t the ZTS-00 "RH" terminal, and wire the cling systems "24Vac Pwer" t the ZTS-00 "RC" terminal. Check the plarity f the batteries and the "+/-" marks inside the battery cmpartment 4. Cnnect 24Vac pwer if using 24Vac pwer surce 5. Place the cables at the hle near the terminal blck 6. Insert 2 pieces f wall anchrs int the hles f the wall 7. Fasten the thermstat with 2 pieces f lng screws thrugh the 2 munting hles (Figure 6) 8. 10 ZTS-00 Z-Thermstat Operatins The fllwing sectin will guide yu thrugh the set up prcesses fr yur ZTS-00. Different listening ndes are able t act as repeaters t enlarge the netwrk range. Please nte that all Z-Wave thermstat cntrllers are designed and manufactured by varius vendrs whm are cmpatible with yur ZTS-00 as lng as they carry the Z-Wave lg: (Please carefully read thrugh the fllwing then stre the manual fr future reference.) OVERRIDE HEAT 3 Press "Prg" key nce t select PROG mde: PERMANENT OVERRIDE: Permanent verride the schedule until user change back t "PROG ON". PERMANENT OVERRIDE HEAT

13 Override/Permanent Override Nte : Override/Permanent Override is nly available in HEAT, COOL r AUTO mde. OVERRIDE TARGET HEAT Press "Prg" key nce t cnfirm the setting. AUTO 4 Press Up/Dwn key t adjust aut cl set pint temperature in AUTO COOL mde. Hur will keep flashing, press Up/Dwn key t set hur. 4 Press "Prg" key nce t cnfirm the setting and it will g t minutes setting. Minutes will keep flashing, press Up/Dwn key t set minutes. PM 5 Press "Prg" key nce t cnfirm the setting and it will g t 2/24 hur clck selectin. Press Up/Dwn key t tggle the 2/24 hur clck selectin. HR 6 Press "Prg" key nce t cnfirm the setting and it will g t temperature F (Fahrenheit) -> C (Celsius) selectin. Press Up/Dwn key t tggle the temperature F (Fahrenheit) -> C (Celsius) selectin. 7 Press "Prg" key nce t cnfirm the setting and it will g t swing setting. Press Up/Dwn key t set the swing setting. Hur will keep flashing, press Up/Dwn key t set hur. TU WE TH FR 4 Press "Prg" key nce t cnfirm the setting and it will g t minutes setting. Minutes will keep flashing, press Up/Dwn key t set minutes. TU WE TH FR Press and hld "UP" and "DOWN" key fr 2 secnds t disable / enable event during the time setting. TU WE TH FR 5 If the event is disabled, "OFF" will be displayed. TU WE TH FR If the event is enabled, time will be displayed and Hur will keep flashing. 7

Execute the step f "Add (Inclusin) ZTS-00 t Gateway / Cntrller Z-Wave netwrk". 4. ZTS-00 will be cnfigured as FLiRS peratin after step 3 (inclusin). ZTS-00 will nt respnse Z-Wave cmmand very quickly as it will enter sleep mde frequently in rder t cnserve battery cnsumptin. Applicatin fr 24Vac pwer line:. Cnnect 24Vac pwer and pwer up the unit, make sure AAx4pcs batteries has been remved. 2. Execute the step f "Delete (Exclusin) ZTS-00 frm Gateway / Cntrller Z- Wave netwrk". 3. Execute the step f "Add (Inclusin) ZTS-00 t Gateway / Cntrller Z-Wave netwrk". 4. ZTS-00 will be cnfigured as Always Listening peratin after step 3 (inclusin). It can install AAx4pcs batteries fr pwer backup purpse after step 4. 9

21 Imprtant: It is nt allw changing ZTS-00 peratin mde by change f pwer surce. It is need t fllw the abve steps t change ZTS-00 peratin mde. Add (Inclusin) ZTS-00 t Gateway / Cntrller Z-Wave netwrk Step Prcedure / Descriptin Gateway / Cntrller device shuld entry the inclusin mde. Press and hld "Hme" key fr 2 secnds t entry the Add (Inclusin) / Delete (Exclusin) Mde. LCD indicatin 2 Press "Prg" key nce, it will search the netwrk. 3 If the ZTS-00 is added int the netwrk, the signal f "dne" will be shwn. Inclusin is cmpleted. 4 Press "Hme" key nce t g back t the hme page. PROG ON COOL 20

22 Delete (Exclusin) ZTS-00 frm Gateway / Cntrller Z-Wave netwrk Step Prcedure / Descriptin Gateway / Cntrller device shuld entry the Exclusin mde. LCD indicatin Press and hld "Hme" key fr 2 secnds t entry the Add (Inclusin) / Delete (Exclusin) Mde. 2 Press "Prg" key nce, it will search the netwrk. 3 If the ZTS-00 is remved frm the netwrk, it shws n cnnectin. Exclusin is cmpleted. 4 Press "Hme" key nce t g back t the hme page. PROG ON OFF Supprt Assciatin Cmmand Class ZTS-00 supprt 2 assciatin grups, each assciatin grup cntains 5 ndes max. and up t 5 ndes can be assigned in these 2 assciatin grups. Assciatin grup_: - ZTS-00 will send ut basic set cmmand 0xFF autmatically nce Heat Pump peratin has been started in heating mde. - ZTS-00 will send ut basic set cmmand 0x00 autmatically nce Heat Pump peratin has been stpped in heating mde. Assciatin grup_2: - ZTS-00 will send ut basic set cmmand 0xFF autmatically nce Cmpressr peratin has been started in cling mde. - ZTS-00 will send ut basic set cmmand 0x00 autmatically nce cmpressr peratin has been stpped in cling mde. 2
