Q: Can I have these devices installed t my business address? A: N, Switch t Save is a carbn reductin prject being cnducted under the Victrian Gvernment s Victrian Energy Efficiency Target Scheme (VEET) and is designed t deliver energy savings and greenhuse gas savings thrugh the installatin f prducts which generate carbn credits. The VEET prgram which is administered by the Victrian Gvernment Essential Services Cmmissin des nt allw the installatin f Standby Pwer Cntrllers at business addresses at this pint in time. Q: I dn t live in Victria, can I still participate in this prgram? A: N, Switch t Save is a carbn reductin prject being cnducted under the Victrian Gvernment s Victrian Energy Efficiency Target Scheme (VEET) and is designed t deliver husehld energy savings and greenhuse gas savings thrugh the installatin f prducts which generate carbn credits. Energy Makevers is accredited t create Victrian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs) frm the prject. Fr this reasn, nly Victrian husehlds can register fr this prgram. Q: What can be linked t the Standby Pwer Cntrller? A: N, There are n hidden csts invlved with this prgram, custmers will nt be required t financially cntribute in anyway with the Switch t Save prgram Q: Hw can this service be free? A: The Switch t Save prgram is funded by the creatin f Victrian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs). Switch t Save is a carbn reductin prject being cnducted under the Victrian Gvernment s Victrian Energy Efficiency Target Scheme (VEET) and is designed t deliver husehld energy savings and greenhuse gas savings thrugh the installatin f prducts which generate VEECs. Energy Makevers is accredited t create VEECs frm the prject. An energy prvider will be purchasing these VEECs t help them meet their mandatry emissin reductin bligatins under the VEET scheme, which in turn funds the free supply and installatin f the Standby Pwer Cntrllers. T take up the ffer, residents will need t sign a frm cnfirming that Energy Makevers prvided and installed the Standby Pwer Cntrllers (SPCs) fr free, assigning the right t create VEECs t Energy Makevers. The signed frms are Energy Makevers prf that greenhuse gas emissins have been reduced by prviding and installing the SPCs. The scheme is regulated by the Essential Services Cmmissin. 4 Cancellatin Q: What if I change my mind and dn t want t have the Standby Pwer Cntrllers installed? A: If yu change yur mind, please call Energy Makevers n at least 24 hurs befre yur scheduled time t cancel yur appintment. Installatins / Prcess Q: I rent my prperty, can I get an Standby Pwer Cntrllers installed? A: Yes, tenants dn t need the wner s permissin t install the devices and they can be taken with yu if yu mve. Q: Hw many Standby Pwer Cntrllers can I have installed? A: A maximum f 4 Standby Pwer Cntrllers can be installed t each hme. Q: Hw lng will it take fr husehlds t receive phne calls and installatins after registratins? A: This will depend n where yu live in Victria with Metr and Reginal Areas being mre serviceable they will be mre readily available t service. A: Installers may nly be in yur area fr a shrt time s please ensure that yu are hme at the scheduled appintment time. If yu are nt hme at the appintment time we cannt guarantee that yu will receive the Standby Pwer Cntrllers. Q: Will installatin teams be installing ver a cmbinatin f weekends, evenings and weekdays r d they have set wrk times and days? A: Mst installers wrk 6 days a week (Mnday t Saturday). A: This frm must be signed by a persn wh is 18 years r lder and respnsible fr paying fr the energy bills. Q: Can I trust the installers wh cme int my hme? A: All installers n the Switch t Save prgram have applied fr and passed a Plice Check and received all necessary training required by VEET. Training includes Energy Efficiency Installers cde f cnduct, Quality and Assurance prcedures, OH&S, Custmer service, Accurate Activity Recrd cmpletin, VEET Infrmatin sheet. The Prduct Q: Hw d the Embertec SmartSwitch, Standby Pwer Cntrllers wrk? A: Standby Pwer Cntrllers mnitr human interactin and electrical parameters, determines the user pwer requirement and turns appliances n r ff at exactly the right time. Fr AV (TV) Standby Pwer Cntrllers when the user switches appliances ff, standby pwer is shut ff cmpletely after a shrt perid f time. Pwer is immediately restred when the TV is reactivated with the remte cntrl. Fr PC Standby Pwer Cntrllers whenever the cmputer ges int standby, hibernate r ff mde, pwer is remved frm all f the cnnected peripherals. Pwer is immediately and autmatically restred when the cmputer is reactivated in the nrmal way. Q: Can the Embertec SmartSwitch damage my equipment? A: N. Embertec prducts are simple pwer switching devices that cannt interfere with yur equipment. They are manufactured and tested t cmply and meet Internatinal standards. It is imprtant t nte that the Embertec SmartSwitch SPC uses "Zer Crssing Detectin" fr switching ff, meaning that the current is switched ff during the zer pint f an alternating current cycle. This eliminates any chance f causing damage t equipment. Q: Des the Embertec SmartSwitch have surge prtectin? A: Yes, Embertec SmartSwitch AC and PC bth have surge prtectin that prtects all yur appliances cnnected t an Embertec SmartSwitch; prviding assurance that yur equipment is prtected against dangerus pwer surges frm yur electricity surce. Embertec SmartSwitch has a ttal surge prtectin up t up t 537 Jules / 13,500 amp. In the event f a majr pwer surge, electrical verlad r wall utlet failure, Embertec SmartSwitch will remve pwer t bth sckets t further prtect yur cnnected equipment. Q: Des switching my Cmputer, Peripherals (mnitr, speakers etc) and Audi Visual equipment n and ff reduce the life f my equipment? A: N. In tday's mdern electrnic equipment, cmpnents are nt cmprmised by switching devices n and ff. In fact, Embertec SmartSwitch extends the life f yur equipment by switching them ff while nt being used and allwing cmpnents t cl dwn. By leaving devices n when nt used allws the electrnic cmpnents t heat up and expand. This cntinued heat and expansin f the electrnic cmpnents may cause failures within the device(s) and therefre shrten the life cycle f yur electrical equipment. Date: 2012 Pg 5 f 7

6 Q: What if the prduct fails? Is there a warranty? A: All Embertec SmartSwitches are supplied with a 12 mnth replacement warranty frm Embertec Pty Ltd. Fr details f the warranty, please see the user manual supplied with the Embertec SmartSwitch. If yur device fails, please cntact custmer supprt at and we will act t reslve the issue as sn as pssible. Q: Can I plug mre than ne device int the 'Always On' scket? A: Fr Embertec SmartSwitch PC cnnect ne PC nly. Fr Embertec SmartSwitch AV (TV) cnnect as many devices (via yur nrmal pwer bard) as needed. Devices can be cnnected nt bth, 'Always On' and 'Pwer Saver' sckets. Q: Can I plug mre than ne device int the 'Pwer Saving' scket? A: Yes. When there is mre than ne device that needs t be cnnected t 'Pwer Saving' scket, any pwer bard r surge bard may be cnnected t this scket. Please nte; devices cnnected t the 'Pwer Saving' scket via any trailing pwer bard r surge bard will be switched ff in a pwer saving cycle. Q: Can I activate my Embertec SmartSwitch if I have damaged, r misplaced my remte cntrls, r if the batteries have run ut? A: Yu can activate the Embertec SmartSwitch using the push buttn n the EmberSensr. Simply press the EmberSensr buttn nce t apply Standby pwer t the cnnected devices. Yu can then cntinue t perate yur appliances in the nrmal way, using the switches, and cntrl panel n the appliance itself. Q: Can I cnnect electrical equipment t the Embertec SmartSwitch even if the equipment desn't have a standby functin such as a lamp r turntable? A: Yes, any appliance can be cnnected t the Embertec SmartSwitch; these items will be autmatically switched ff during a pwer saving cycle. Date: 2012 Pg 6 f 7

7 Paperwrk fr husehld Installatins (Assignment Frm) Q: Why d residents need t sign the Assignment Frm? A: T take up the ffer, residents must sign an Assignment Frm which is prf that the installatin and prvisin f prducts has taken place. In exchange fr receiving FREE installatin and prducts FREE f charge frm Energy Makevers, residents assign the right t create carbn credits (Victrian Energy Efficiency Certificates - VEECs) frm the installatin t Energy Makevers. Q: What happens t my persnal infrmatin n the Assignment Frm r Installatin Agreement? A: The persnal infrmatin cllected n the Assignment Frm is required by the VEET scheme. The infrmatin is cllected, used and disclsed by Energy Makevers t the Essential Services Cmmissin (ESC) fr regulatry purpses related t the gvernment scheme and its evaluatin. Energy Makevers accepts and cmplies with the Infrmatin Privacy Act (Vic), the Natinal Privacy Principles and the Privacy Act. N persnal infrmatin is disclsed withut the cnsent f the individual. Please nte: Energy Makevers will, upn cmpletin f the Switch T Save prgram, prvide Bendig Bank with data cllected thrugh the Assignment Frm t allw Bendig Bank t cnfirm thse husehlds that have received an installatin f Embertec SmartSwitches via the Switch T Save prgram and cmmunicate with participants in the future.
