6 PSR Extractr Switch t Master Guide General This dcument is part f the TA10 upgrade packet made by Intersft Electrnics. It handles abut the steps which have t be taken t switch frm the current TA10 setup t a PCT791 cntrlled setup. The current TA10 radar cnsists f an antenna grup, transmitter, receiver, PSR extractr fllwed by a Cmbiner. 7 PSR Extractr Switch t Master Guide Switch t Master Guide The PCT791 unit (PSR Cntrlled Timing Unit) interfaces between the radars current setup and the new installed extractr equipment. Belw yu can see a picture f the frnt panel. Figure 2-2: PCT Settings Master - Slave This unit can wrk in 2 different peratinal mdes: Master and Slave (changed by dip switch n frnt panel) In Slave mde yu can simply cnnect the PCT791 unit with a fur fifty wire flatcable t the radar intercnnectin panel. The cntrlled timing unit is nw slaved n the signals generated by the TPL800. This mde is used t evaluate the system while the radar is staying fully peratinal. 8 PSR Extractr Switch t Master Guide In Master mde yu have t discnnect the TPL800 f the intercnnectin panel and cnnect the PCT791 unit. Nw the PCT791 unit will cntrl the radar sync signals (SL, MOD, SSR sync, Extrasync, PEFR, PEMR, ), STC, beam switching. The STC and Beam switching are in Flash memry which cntent can be changed by the radar technicians (see CAM manual IE-PSR-Extractr-UM-vxx.pdf). If yu change t Generatr mde, the PCT791 unit will als generate ACP/ARP signals! This is useful t simulate a radar with a PCT791 unit under test. Befre setting a PCT791 unit t Generatr mde be sure that there is n radar cnnectin 2.2 Status indicatrs Nte that these indicatins belw are als reprted t the CAM sftware (currently nt all yet implemented) Tx On (red) The led lights up when the timing signals are generated. This setting is under sftware cntrl N clck (red) If an external clck surce is selected (see CAM sftware) and this signal is nt crrect (t weak, nt activ ) the LED lights up Operatinal (green) This led lights up when the radar is in nrmal mde and there s n flash prgramming active ARP (green) Lights up when a nrth crssing f the antenna is detected.

Has n meaning fr the mment Pwer (green) Lights up when the system pwer is present. 2.3 Clck surces The PCT791 unit can wrk with three clck surces: External 30MHz surce : cax n frnt panel, 50 Ohm, 0dBm External 15MHz surce: n flatcable Internal 15MHz surce (nrmal used)

10 PSR Extractr Switch t Master Guide Step-by-step Slave t Master cnfiguratin Fllw the steps belw: Shutdwn the Extractr/Tracker functins with the CAM interface. Switch ff the radar transmitter (PR & SR) Switch ff the TPL800 (Pwer supply TPL A + TPL B ff) Pwer ff the PCT791 unit (pwer cable ut) Switch the settings dipswitch n the PCT791 unit frnt panel t master, nrmal. Disable the receiver autmatic gain (Frnt Rx AGC OFF) Discnnect the Flatcables n the TPL800 side (nly PCT791 unit cnnected t Intercnnectin panel) Pwer n the PCT791 unit Discnnect the STC high beam signal cable n J2140 and cnnect it t J2143 n the intercnnectin panel. Mdificatin as in beauvechain may be needed. Discnnect the SSR sync cable n the intercnnectin panel and cnnect it t the SSR sync utput n the PCT791 unit frnt panel. Start the Extractr functin with the CAM interface (live mde). The PCT791 tab shuld be enabled (see sectin PCT791 tab) Set the transmitter setting in the CAM t OFF, verify it n the PCT791 unit frnt panel. If all seems nrmal yu can switch the transmitter setting in the CAM interface t ON. Switch On the radar transmitter (TPL800 remains ff) Start the tracker functin The switch t Master mde is cmpleted.

11 PSR Extractr Switch t Master Guide Master t slave cnfiguratin Fllw the steps belw: Set the transmitter setting in the CAM t OFF Shutdwn the Extractr/Tracker functins with the CAM interface. Switch ff the radar transmitter (TPL800 is still ff, if nt, switch ff) Pwer ff the PCT791 unit Enable again the receiver autmatic gain cntrl. RR800 SM; MF 800 S/T: AGC ON. Switch the settings dipswitches n the PCT791 frnt panel t nrmal, slave. Cnnect the flatcables again n the TLP800 (nw the PCT791 unit, TPL800 and the intercnnectin panel are all cnnected in parallel). Cable 1, 2, 3, 4 n TPL A. Remve the SSR sync frm the PCT791 unit frnt panel and cnnect it again n the intercnnectin panel. (P2124, black cable) Discnnect the STC high beam signal cable n J2143 and cnnect it t J2140 n the intercnnectin panel. Pwer n the PCT791 unit Pwer n the TPL800 Pwer n the radar transmitter. Start the extractr and tracker functin by using the CAM interface. The switch t Slave mde is cmpleted.

12 PSR Extractr Switch t Master Guide CAM interface PCT791 tab Figure 2-5: PCT791 tab Cmmands available in the CAM fr the PCT791 tab are the fllwing: Transmitter: yu can switch the timing generatin f the PCT791 unit On/Off with this cntrl. Stagger: turn the stagger On r Off STC: yu can select the autmatic STC generatin r fixed. When the autmatic mde is selected the cntent f the flash in the PCT791 unit will be used as STC. If yu select the fixed mde, the values given in the setting windw are used (see picture belw). 13 PSR Extractr Switch t Master Guide Test pulses: PERF Range: this value cntrls at what range the fixed test pulse is placed. The fixed test pulse will appear fr al azimuths. PEMR Range: this value cntrls at what range the mving test pulse is placed. PEMR Azimuth: this value chses at what azimuth the mving test pulse is generated. The test pulse will start at the value given and lasts fr 15ACP s. Beam switching: yu can chse between 3 mdes Autmatic: the cntent in the flash f the PCT791 unit will be used fr beam switching. H-beam: the high beam is selected. The cntent f the flash is verridden. L-beam: the lw beam is selected. The cntent f the flash is verridden.
