2 Channel Setup Using Aqua4Plus Standard SDI-12 cmmands are limited t returning a maximum f nine values. The GDL, depending n hw it is cnfigured, may have as many as 15 channels. Fr this reasn, Aqua4Plus cntains an SDI-12 setup utility t allw yu t define which channels are returned fr the M r C, M1 r C1, M2 r C2, and M3 r C3 cmmands. Open the SDI-12 setup utility frm Aqua4Plus by clicking n the Cnfigure Menu and then selecting Advanced. Frm the flyut menu, select SDI-12 Setup. Use the SDI-12 Setup windw in Aqua4Plus t define what values are returned fr specific SDI-12 cmmands. This windw cnsists f fur tabs, ne fr the M and C cmmands, ne fr the M1 and C1 cmmands, ne fr the M2 and C2 cmmands, and ne fr the M3 and C3 cmmands. Readings are lcated in tw registers each, starting at address (INW Smart Sensr register addressing is zer based, i.e., starts at zer. If yur equipment uses ne based addressing, yu will need t add ne t the register address. Mdbus parameter data is returned as 32-bit IEEE flating pint values, high wrd first, als referred t as big-endian, flat inverse, r flat AB CD. Each value is 32 bits in length, and therefre ccupies tw Mdbus registers. As a result, the parameter registers must be read as pairs. The GDL prvides a means t explicitly turn pwer n r ff t the analg circuit and any devices attached t the switched pwer utput prir t requesting a reading. This same functin allws yu t specify hw lng the circuit remains n after a reading has been taken. There is a pwer n register n the GDL (register r 0xF500). When a psitive value n is written t this register, the pwer is turned n t the sensing prbe and remains n fr n/4 secnds. When a reading is requested, the timer is reset and the sensing element remains n fr anther n/4 secnds. T frce the pwer ff immediately after a reading, fr pwer savings, write a zer t the register. If the pwer t the entire GDL sensr is turned ff, this value defaults t 30 (r 7.5 secnds). The recmmended prcedure t ensure prper warm-up/stabilizatin and t cnserve pwer is: Write Pwer On value f 30 (30/4 = 7.5 secnds) * Pwer turns n Starts sampling abut tw times per secnd Wait 7 secnds then request a reading * Returns mst recent sample Resets Pwer On value t 30 (30/4 = 7.5 secnds) * Write Pwer On value f 0 (zer) Turns pwer ff Retains last reading * If yur attached sensrs have a lnger warm-up/stabilizatin time, increase these values Page 7 f 9 seametrics.cm

8 If Yu Cannt Write t the Pwer On Register If yu are reading yur sensr using a meter r ther device that cannt write the Pwer On value but simply takes readings n a specified schedule, be sure t set the plling interval t less than 7.5 secnds. This will ensure that the GDL is always prviding pwer t the cnnected sensrs and readings shuld be fresh and stable. Nte that the first reading when yu turn n the GDL will be ld but will refresh within a secnd r tw. Sensr Cnfiguratin/Cntrl Mdbus registers are prvided fr the fllwing cnfiguratin and cntrl functins.
