The Digital Output grup is cmpsed f three fields: Digital Output Number (Nr), On-Off and the Timer (Min-Sec). The Number field is used t select the specific digital utput t be active, numbers 1 thrugh 32. The On-Off field is used t select whether the digital utput line is placed in the On r Off state during the cntrl actin regardless f the prir state f the Digital Output. This timer determines the length f the cntrl actin starting frm the Next Occurrence grup r the Wait timer. When the Minute field is selected, the user may enter up t 9999 in the Minutes field and up t 99 secnds in the Secnds field. Entering a zer will display as a blank in either field. f) Delay Ave (Averaging) defines the parameters fr which sampling will be delayed fr the time interval entered. The Delay Averaging grup is used t select parameters t delay as a result f the cntrl actin, such as parameters that are briefly impacted by the switching f the digital utput. Multiple parameters may be selected and marked dwn, r invalid fr the perid specified in the Sec (Secnds) field. This timer begins at the Next Occurrence time unless a Wait perid has been selected. g) Invalid used t define ne r mre parameters fr which sampling will be marked dwn as invalid fr the duratin f the cntrl actin. The Invalid field is used t mark dwn, r invalidate, parameters fr the duratin f the cntrl actin. Multiple parameters may be selected and will be marked dwn fr the entire perid defined in 76

The expected uses in the Statin Manager Data lgger are fr CEMS functins and several examples f this type f applicatin are ffered fr the user. While these examples are available t the user, several ther methds may exist t accmplish the same applicatin Stream Switching Example 77

79 An example f a Timer-Cntrller applicatin is a system, which switches frm ne sampling stream t anther sampling stream. This type f CEMS peratin is referred t as Stream Switching. This may ccur when the Statin Manager Data lgger is perating cntinuusly but selecting the surces, such as discharges frm multiple vents r exhaust pipes, n a rutine cycle. Figure 4-14 is an example cnfiguratin fr Stream Switching: 78

80 Figure 4-14 Example Table Defined fr Stream Switching The example parameters fr Stream Switching shwn here are defined with a minimum number f 15 valid 1-minute data samples per hur in the Initialize Parameters table as shwn in Figure 4-15: Figure 4-15 Example Table Defined fr Stream Switching 79

81 Stream Switching begins with the digital activatin f an autmated slenid valve allwing the mnitring equipment t receive the first surce, Stream A in this example. A built-in delay f 5 secnds allws fr the clearing f the residual vlume frm the surce piping. The data channels fr the alternate surces, Stream B and C, are marked dwn r invalid fr the sampling interval. After 5 minutes, the digital utput will return t the ff cnditin, clsing the autmated slenid valve fr Stream A. The wait timer fr Stream B, set t 300 secnds (5 minutes), will enable a secnd digital utput t pen a slenid valve fr Stream B sampling. Again the delay f 5 secnds allws fr the residual vlume in the surce piping t be exhausted prir t the cllectin f data. The assciated data channels fr Stream A and C are marked invalid. After 5 minutes, the digital utput will return t the ff cnditin and the slenid valve fr Stream B will clse. The wait timer fr Stream C, set t 600 secnds (10 minutes), will enable the third digital utput t pen the slenid valve fr Stream C sampling. The delay f 5 secnds clears the surce piping and data cllectin begins. The data channels fr Stream A and B are marked invalid and sampling fr Stream C will begin. After the cmpletin f the sampling perid, the digital utput will clse the slenid valve fr Stream C. The Repeat clumn, set t 15 minutes fr all streams, will cycle back t the Stream A sampling and cntinue the rtatin f the Stream Switching sequence Backflush Example The rutine functin f flushing the surce line is anther example f a timed event using the Timer-Cntrller prgram. Cmmnly referred t as Backflush, the applicatin invlves the reverse flw f cmpressed air thrugh the surce piping remving the misture r particulate material that may have been drawn int the line. Figure 4-16 is an example f scheduled Backflush activities: Digital Input Example Figure 4-16 Example Table Defined fr Backflush 80

82 When selected, the Timer-Cntrller tests fr a digital input every secnd and n receipt f an input initiates the actin determined in the table. An example f the use f this feature is the discharge f accumulated misture in surce piping. Figure 4-17 demnstrates a pssible use f this feature. Figure 4-17 Example Table Defined fr Digital Input The example sequence begins with the digital input frm a misture detectin sensr in the surce piping. The Timer-Cntrller flags the assciated data invalid and, thrugh a digital utput, activates an autmated slenid valve allwing the reverse flw f cmpressed air thrugh the surce piping r the draining f an accumulatr. When the sensr ceases t detect misture, the digital input is released and the valve clsed. The Timer-Cntrller will release the validity flags and data cllectin will resume as nrmal PM10 Sampler Example The sampling f particulate material in the atmsphere is ften accmplished by use f a PM- 10 Sampler, using a filter media and weight measurement. The sampler is run fr a perid f time usually 24 hurs. Figure 4-18 demnstrates a typical entry fr PM-10 sampler. 81
