3 AmpiCenter Instaatin Instructins DESCRIPTION The AmpiCenter is a high quaity sid state paging ampifier with the fwing features (Figure 1): Avaiabe in 50, 100 and 200 watt mdes. Specia paging pre ampifier matched t the utput f teephne system paging adapters. This pre amp has a frequency respnse taired t accept and imprve vice signas frm teephne transmitters. Factry pre set cmpressin circuit that prvides a cntred utput eve ver a wide range f paging input eves. Separate and isated pre ampifier channe fr backgrund music. Sid state MUSIC/PAGE switch that siences music during paging. Fitered and reguated 24VDC pwer suppy that prvides pwer fr assciated externa equipment, such as teephne paging adapters (the 100 and 200 watt mdes have a 1 amp utput, the 50 watt mde has an utput f.5 amp). Lw eve 600 hm baanced utput designed t feed an externa ff premise ampifier via a dry pair. Switch seected 25V r 70.7V speaker utput. The 50 and 200 watt mdes are shwn. 4 AmpiCenter Instaatin Instructins INSTALLATION Wa Or Equipment-Rack Munting Each AmpiCenter has tw munting brackets, which are factry instaed n the tp and bttm f the unit (Figure 2). 5 AmpiCenter Instaatin Instructins The AmpiCenter may be wa munted by remving the brackets and reinstaing them n the sides f the AmpiCenter, using the same screws (Figure 3). 6 AmpiCenter Instaatin Instructins Cautin: When recating the brackets t the side f the unit, D Nt put unused screws back int either the tp r bttm f the AmpiCenter. Instaing screws in the tp r bttm withut the bracket may cause interna eectrica damage, as the screws are ng enugh t cntact interna cmpnents. Munting n a PagePac Cabinet The AmpiCenter may be used as a repacement fr ne that has been remved frm a PagePac cabinet. 7 AmpiCenter Instaatin Instructins Cnnectins (When Used With a PagePac Cabinet) If the AmpiCenter has been munted n a PagePac cabinet, the cabinet wiring must be cnnected t the AmpiCenter as indicated in Tabe A. 9 AmpiCenter Instaatin Instructins Tabe B AmpiCenter Termina Descriptins SCREW TYPE TERMINALS FUNCTION 0dB/AUX/OUT MUSIC/PAGE SIGNAL G PAGE IN MUSIC IN An auxiiary utput that differs Frm the main 70.7V utput in that it is a w eve (0dB), 600 hm baanced utput used fr driving a remte r ff premises ampifier. A cmmn grund is cnnected t this termina and is used t switch the input frm music t page. This grund can be cntred frm a remte key r reay assciated with the teephne paging trunk. A dry csure can be utiized by inserting the remte key r reay cntact in series with the MUSIC/ PAGE and G terminas f the AmpiCenter. Used t terminate and mutipy a cd water pipe grund. Nte: A cd water pipe r ca teephne signa grund MUST be cnnected t this termina. The tw SIGNAL G terminas are intern ay strapped tgether fr cn venience. Used fr terminating the baanced 600 hm utput frm the page trunk r adapter. Nte: This must be a dry pair, free f any DC ptentia (battery and/r grund). 10 AmpiCenter Instaatin Instructins Tabe B (Cnt.) SCREW-TYPE TERMINALS G AND 24VDC FUNCTION A surce f fitered 24VDC that is prvided fr pwering externa equipment such as a paging adapter. C, 70.7V and SHIELD Baanced utput used fr terminat ing the paging system s udspeaker wiring. Either 25V r 70.7V utput can be seected by peratin f the OUTPUT switch. The SHIELD termina must be used fr terminating the shied r drain wire when shieded speaker wire is used. ALC Nte: The shied wire must be terminated ny at the AmpiCenter. It shud nt be terminated n any individua speaker. Dracn cne type speakers have a termina marked "S". This termina is pr vided as an aid in cntinuing the the shied wire when wiring frm speaker t speaker, it has n in termina cnnectin t the speaker circuitry r grund. These terminas are factry strap ped and the strap shud nt be remved. OPERATION AmpiCenter cntrs and indicatrs are shwn in Figure 7 and described in Tabe C. After the AmpiCenter has been instaed, it's pwer crd shud be cnnected t a grunded (three prnged) AC wa scket ( VAC, Hz). The scket shud nt be cntred by a switch that may be mistaken fr a ight switch. T turn the AmpiCenter n, set the PWR (pwer) switch t ON. See Figure 7. Page 8

Nte: The gain f the Page pre ampifier and cmpressin circuits are preset t prvide a paging utput eve f 70.7V + 1dBm ver a paging input eve range f 15dBm t 0dBm N fied adjustment is required. A green LED that ights when AC ine vtage is being appied t the AmpiCenter (PWR switch must be in the "ON" psitin.) A red LED that ights when the AmpiCenter utput exceeds its utput pwer rating. This can ccur when tta speaker ad is greater than the utput pwer rating, r when speaker wiring is shrted. The AmpiCenter shud be turned ff and the trube ceared. The AmpiCenter s utput may cyce n and ff during a page due t the prtective circuitry in the ampifier. This is generay caused by the AmpiCenter receiv ing a page input signa greater than 0dBm. Page 9

LF CUTOFF: If hrn speakers are cnnected t the AmpiCenter, set the LF CUTOFF switch t HORN, therwise set it t NORM. Music Gain Cntr: Set the backgrund music eve (if prvided) as fws: (1) (2) Set the vume cntr n the externa music surce t mid range. Adjust the AmpiCenter MUSIC GAIN cntr t prvide a suitabe music eve, as determined by the custmer. MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING Detaied maintenance and trubeshting prcedures fr the AmpiCenter are prvided in the Dracn Practice, PAGEPAC VOICE PAGING SYSTEM, Dcument Number The AmpiCenter is nt fied repairabe.
