Intrductin The ION-U system has embedded intelligence that clearly guides the design, planning, installatin, setup, cmmissining, and ptimizatin f yur DAS with startt-finish simplicity. The System Cnfiguratin Tl r SCT is a key ION-U cmpnent that generates the autmatic dcumentatin required t install, cmmissin, perate, and mnitr an ION-U system based n user input. The utput f the SCT is a cmplete prject package that includes an Equipment List Reprt (bill f materials), a Wrk Order Reprt (ppulating hardware and cabling), detailed Rack Layut and Clr Cded Rack reprts, a Pwer Cnsumptin reprt, a Schematic drawing, and a system cnfiguratin file. The system cnfiguratin file (generated_xml.xml) is then imprted int the ION-U Site Manager sftware. This file prvides all the DAS design infrmatin required by the Site Manager t cmmissin, manage, and mnitr the ION-U system. figure 2-1 SCT input / utput verview Users simply lgin t a server using a standard web brwser and fill in the DAS parameters such as the number f znes and Remte Units, wireless technlgies, and peratr details. The SCT takes that input and builds a cmplete ION-U DAS package based n an extensive built-in set f rules. The Interactive Tl allws yu t edit the system design by mving and/r adding system hardware cmpnents t tailr the design t yur specific site requirements. Prerequisites The ION-U System Cnfiguratin Tl will create a build f materials based n the users input s a thrugh knwledge f the CmmScpe ION-U system and cmpnents is nt required. Hwever, DAS details such as the number f znes and remte units, frequency bands, technlgies, and pwer allcatin generated by a prgram such as ibwave Design will be needed t prvide the input int the SCT. A cmputer with a netwrk cnnectin and a web brwser are als required ION-U System Overview One f the advantages f the System Cnfiguratin Tl is that it allws an engineer r technician with a gd understanding f DAS systems t build a cmplete ION-U DAS system withut a thrugh knwledge f the CmmScpe ION-U system and cmpnents. Hwever, an verview f the ION-U system is helpful when making Prject Cnfiguratin selectins and fr understanding the reprts generated by the SCT. The fllwing is a brief verview f the ION-U cmpnents. Fr details please see the ION-U Hardware Manual. figure 2-2 ION-U system verview The ION-U is a flexible mdular system that can be tailred t the specific requirements f a DAS. The basic functins f the ION-U cmpnents are described in the fllwing table. Sme devices are ptinal depending n the design requirements f the system. 16 2. ION-U System Cnfiguratin Tl Overview i-poi POI Subrack The i-poi measures and adjusts the signals t and frm the BTS t the prper levels required t interface t the ION-U. It is als capable f generating test signals fr DAS pre-ptimizatin. The POI subrack supprts up t 8 i-poi mdules and an IFC-S mdule. It des nt supprt the LP i-poi. LP i-poi IFC-S The Lw Pwer i-poi measures and adjusts the signals t and frm a lw pwer BTS t the prper levels required t interface t the ION-U. It is hused in an ION-U subrack. The IFC-S (Interface Card- standard) is used t set the POI subrack number. It als displays alarms and prvides cabling assistance during cmmissining. Sectr Matrix The Sectr Matrix mdule maps up t 8 sectrs t 4 znes in bth UL and DL path. Each pair f inputs is cmbined (high and lw band) and ruted tgether. Sectr Cmbiner Zne Cmbiner OTRX The Sectr Cmbiner 8x8 mdule (SC) has eight wideband input prts and eight wideband utput prts in bth the DL and UL paths. It acts as a cmbiner n input and a splitter n utput. The Zne Cmbiner mdule cmbines up t 8 inputs and bradcasts the cmbined signals t 8 utputs, which, in turn, feed the OTRX mdules in DL. It als supprts UL path. The Zne Cmbiner is available in 8x8 and 2x2 mdels. The OTRX mdules cnvert the RF inputs t ptical t feed DL signal t the RUs. LP versin can feed 4 RUs. 17 2. ION-U System Cnfiguratin Tl Overview Optical Splitter The Optical Splitter (O/2) prvides tw ptical links frm a single HP OTRx prt. The (O/4) type prvides fur ptical links frm a single HP OTRx prt. RU IFC SRC dsmr Remte Units (RU) receive DL signal by fiber frm OTRX, cnvert the signal t RF, amplify the signal, and send it t the DAS antennas. Als, receive UL signals and send them by fiber t the OTRX mdules. The IFC (Interface Card) is used t set the ION-U subrack number when features f SRC are nt required. It als displays alarms and prvides assistance during cmmissining. The Subrack Cntrller card manages the entities f 1 r mre subracks including subrack number setting, cmmunicatin t RUs, and Ethernet prts fr cascading units and lcal maintenance. The dsmr cmbines the functins f the SRC with an advanced measurement receiver that can be used fr PIM testing and ther measurement functins. ESC 8 The ESC 8 is an Ethernet switch supprting the cmmunicatin f up t 7 subrack cntrller mdules with the Rack Master Cntrller. ION-U Subrack Sectr Matrix Subrack The ION-U subrack supprts all ION-U mdules (up t 12) including LP i-poi. It is available with r withut the measurement backplane t supprt the dsmr mdule. Sectr Matrix subrack is simply a term used fr an ION-U subrack when it is used t huse LP i-poi and Sectr Matrix mdules. M0200A2E Page 17

ION-U System Cnfiguratin Tl Overview Signal Distributin Subrack RMC1600 PDU PSU Racks Signal Distributin subrack is simply a term used fr an ION-U subrack when it is used t huse Zne Cmbiner and OTRx mdules that distribute the signal t the Remte Units The Rack Master Cntrller (RMC) is the standard cntrller / server platfrm fr the ION-U. It is the primary interface fr remte system cntrl and OMC backhaul. The Pwer Distributin Unit wrking in cnjunctin with the Pwer Supply Units prvides pwer and cntrl fr an ION-U Master Unit. The Pwer Supply Units, (shwn in the PSU subrack) are mdular units that prvide DC pwer t the PDU. AC and DC input PSUs are available. ION-U racks are 19 inch racks designed t munt the subracks and ther cmpnents in secure manner with adequate airflw. A drp-dwn list in the SCT allws yu t select the size and type f racks. 19 2. ION-U System Cnfiguratin Tl Overview 2.4. Cnfiguratin Tl Buttns and Links The SCT web pages have basic cmmn buttns and links in the header f each page and in the fter. Additinal buttns and links are available in the header fr the DAS Cnfiguratin, RU t Zne Mapping, Sectr Definitin, and Pwer Allcatin pages Header Buttns and Links figure 2-3 Header buttns and links Click the Help buttn t access the nline help fr the page. Click the Lgut buttn t exit the SCT site. Any unsaved wrk shuld be saved befre lgging ut. Click the Save buttn t save yur wrk. Nte: The SCT will autmatically save the data entered by the user every 5 minutes t the database, regardless f whether the user presses the Save buttn r nt. The aut-saved data will nly be available in the SCT database it will nt lad with the prject autmatically. If users need t retrieve an unsaved prject, they will need t request the mst recent aut-saved prject frm DCCS Technical Supprt. This prject file (.sctu) can be imprted int the SCT by using the Imprt Prject buttn n the Prjects page. Click the Reprt Bug buttn t pen the Bug Reprt frm t enter and submit a bug reprt t the SCT develpment team. Users are encuraged t reprt any prblems with the tl. figure 2-4 Bug reprt M0200A2E Page 19

T send a mre detailed bug reprt directly t DCCS Technical Supprt, press the Dwnlad buttn t pen a dialg t dwnlad the SCT_Bug_Reprt.pdf frm. Enter the infrmatin in the frm and press the Submit buttn n the frm when it is cmplete. This will attach the frm t an message, which yu can send t the supprt team. Click the Prjects link t return t the SCT Prjects page. Click the Hints link t tggle the prgram hints fr users that appear near the bttm f the page t assist new users with perating the prgram. figure 2-5 SCT hints Click the Reprts link t pen a drp-dwn list f available reprts. In rder t use the SCT, yu will need the Web address f the server, and a username and passwrd issued by the administratr. Using a web brwser, enter the address f the server int the address field f the brwser. Please read the terms and cnditins and then: Click t place a check in the Accept Terms checkbx Click the Cntinue buttn t pen the Prjects page Cnnectin Lst If the netwrk cnnectin t the SCT server is lst while a prject is prgress, the SCT prmpts yu t save the prject t yur lcal machine. This feature can prevent the lss f infrmatin entered int the prject since it was last saved by yu. Click the Dwnlad buttn t pen the save dialg t save the prject file (.sctu) t yur lcal PC. This prject file can be imprted back int the system by clicking the Imprt Prject buttn n the prjects page. Multiple Lgins with Same Credentials The SCT des nt allw multiple simultaneus lgins using the same credentials (username and passwrd). If yu attempt t lgin t the SCT and the accunt is already in use, yu will receive the fllwing message Anther instance f yur accunt is pened. 26 4. SCT Prjects 4. SCT Prjects The SCT Prjects page is used t create new prjects and t view and manage existing prjects. The fields required fr creating a new prject are lcated at the tp f the page. 27 4. SCT Prjects Click in the Prject Name field and enter a name fr yur prject. Enter a Design Cmpany name fr the prject. Type in a Designer name, which is typically yur name. Click n the calendar buttn in the Date field t pen the date picker and select a date fr the prject. Use the frward and back arrws t select the mnth and then click n a day n the calendar t select it. By default, the current date is selected. figure 4-3 Select new prject date Sme user accunts allw users t design prjects fr mre than ne regin and cuntry. If yur user accunt has multi-regin r multi-cuntry access, the Regin and Cuntry fields will appear belw the default fields. These settings have a direct impact n system ptins such as Remte Unit types, available bands, and wireless peratrs. Select the desired regin frm the Regin drp-dwn list. Select the desired cuntry frm the Cuntry drp-dwn list. The cuntries available in the list are filtered based n the Regin selected. When all the fields are cmpleted, click n the Create buttn t create the prject, which may take yu t the DAS Cnfiguratin page r t the Operatin Mdes ppup windw based n the Regin selected fr the prject Manage Prjects Prjects Table The prjects table displays a list f existing prjects that belng t the user that is lgged int the system including bth cmpleted prjects and prjects that are in prgress. Nte: Pressing the Delete buttn will permanently delete the prject. Yu cannt und this actin! Exprt Prject Click the Exprt buttn t save the SCT prject file, which has a.sctu file extensin, t yur lcal hard drive r a netwrk drive. The.sctu file cntains all f the prject infrmatin that yu entered when the prject was created. The file des nt include the reprts that were generated by the SCT, hwever. Yu can use this feature t backup yur prjects lcally. Yu can lad the prjects again using the Imprt Prject buttn if yu need t make further mdificatins r updates and then generate the reprts and packages. 31 5. Operatin Mdes Select the Open with radi buttn t brwse t an applicatin such as a text editr t pen the.sctu file (nt recmmended) then click the OK buttn. After pening the file in the editr, save the file (withut mdificatins). Select the Save File radi buttn and click the OK buttn t save the.sctu file t yur hard drive. The file will be saved t the brwser s default dwnlad lcatin. The naming cnventin fr the file is prject name.sctu. Imprt Prject Click the Imprt Prject buttn t pen the Select File t uplad ppup t imprt a prject file (.sctu). This culd be a file that yu exprted previusly r a prject that yu saved with the brwser after lsing the cnnectin t the SCT server. It culd als be prject file sent t yu by anther user. Please nte, if yu imprt a.sctu file int an existing prject, all infrmatin fr that prject will be verwritten withut warning! T avid verwriting a prject, yu shuld create a new prject first and then imprt the.sctu file int that new empty prject. After imprting the file, yu can make mdificatins r updates t the prject and then generate the reprts and packages. Launch Interactive Tl After running the System Cnfiguratin Tl t create the prject package and reprts, the buttns t launch the Interactive Tl will becme visible in the Actins list. The Interactive Tl is a graphical interface that allws yu t edit the System Cnfiguratin Tl design by mving and/r adding system hardware cmpnents t tailr the design t yur specific site requirements. Yu must select the radi buttn fr the Standard Mde r ne f the peratr-specific templates befre mving n t the DAS Cnfiguratin page. Selecting ne f the peratr-specific templates limits the ptins available such as peratrs and bands but ensures that the DAS design meets the requirements f the peratr. figure 5-1 Operatin mdes Nte: When lading an existing prject, selecting ne f the peratr-specific templates may change the band and peratr settings previusly cnfigured fr the prject. Select the Standard Mde r ne f the peratr-specific templates and click the Cntinue buttn. 6. DAS Cnfiguratin After creating r lading an SCT prject, the System Cnfiguratin Tl will pen the DAS Cnfiguratin page. The DAS Cnfiguratin page is used t define the number f znes and the mdels and quantities f Remte Units and Extensin Units required fr cverage f thse znes. These znes are generally defined by a design and planning tl such as ibwave design. The verall DAS cverage area is divided up int a number f smaller cverage areas knwn as znes. A zne is generally defined as the smallest physical area t which yu can assign sectrs and traffic fr cverage. In a stadium, fr example, a zne may represent each blck f 2500 seats. In an ffice building, each flr may be represented as a zne. In the example in figure 6-2, the cverage fr a sccer (ftball) stadium is divided up int 18 cverage znes (represented by the clr cded blcks labeled Z1 t Z18) with tw t fur Remte Units (represented by circles) assigned t each zne. Yur system design may r may nt need mre than ne prfile. Yu need t use mre than ne prfile when: The system has bth SISO and MIMO znes. A MIMO Remte Unit cnfiguratin shuld nt be used fr SISO znes because this wuld generate a design with unused Remte Units in the SISO znes. Different types f Remte and Extensin Units are required. Fr example, a five-band RU may be required in sme znes but nly a dual band RU in ther znes. High pwer RUs and lw pwer RUs are required in the same system. Prfile 1 is the default prfile. A Nde can cnsist f ne Remte Unit, a Remte Unit paired with an Extensin Unit, multiple Remte Units, r a mix f Remte and Extensin Units. Each Extensin Unit must be paired with a Remte Unit. Tw Remte Units r a cmbinatin f a Remte Unit and an Extensin Unit are typically required fr LTE MIMO cverage but there are sme exceptins when using Extensin Units with mre than ne PA cvering the same band.. As yu make the selectins in the Band List, the list f Remte Units displayed in Remte Unit List updates t shw nly thse units that meet the requirements. Click n a Remte Unit t highlight it and then click the Select buttn t add it t the Nde Cnfiguratin and clse the ppup. Nte: The RU types with -Vdc/100 in the name have a special purpse dual DC pwer supply fr use where the pwer supplied by each cable must be limited t a maximum f 100 VA. Please refer t the ION-U Remte Unit specificatin sheet fr mre infrmatin. Band Cnfiguratin ION-U Remte Units supprt a wide range f bands. In sme designs all f the PAs in the RU may nt be needed. The Band Cnfiguratin allws yu t activate the specific bands required fr the system and deactivate the bands that are nt needed. figure 6-14 RU Band Cnfiguratin Click n a Remte Unit r Extensin Unit in the Nde Cnfiguratin t select it. The pwer amplifiers f the unit are listed by band in the Active Band Amplifiers sectin. Click n a checkbx t check (activate) r uncheck (deactivate) a band. The SCT will nly use the active bands fr the design. Select the Nde Path fr each band (PA). A Nde Path represents the signal path t a Remte r Extensin unit antenna. Typically Nde Path-1 represents the SISO path and Nde Path-2 represents the MIMO path in an LTE MIMO system. Fr MIMO, select Nde Path-1 fr the RU and Nde Path-2 fr the same band (PA) in the paired RU r EU. Fr sme system designs, each Nde Path (up t fur) may be assigned t a separate antenna. The prfiles defined previusly n the DAS Cnfiguratin page are als used t rganize the Ndes n this page. 41 7. RU t Zne Mapping 7.2. Unit Table The Unit table lists all f the RU/EUs defined fr a prfile, including clumns fr the Unit ID, Unit Type, and Munting Kits. Cverage Area, Nde ID, and RU/EU Serial number infrmatin can be added in a ppup windw. If additinal Ndes are required fr a prfile, click the Back buttn t return t the DAS Cnfiguratin page t add the necessary Ndes. T change the default RU r EU names, click in the field and type the new name. Unit Type The Unit Type clumn lists each RU r EU by type (mdel number). This list is based n the infrmatin entered n the DAS Cnfiguratin page. It is pssible t change the pwer supply type f the RU/EU riginally defined in the prfile fr a Nde. Click n the dwn arrw beside an RU/EU and select a unit with a different PSU type frm the list if necessary. Munting Kits The SCT allws yu t select wall and ple munting kits fr high pwer Remte and Extensin units n this page. This ptin is nt available fr lw pwer Remte Units because wall munting kits are included by default with the LP Remte Units. Click in the Serial Number field and type in the serial number f the Remte r Extensin Unit if it is knwn during the planning prcess. Typically, the serial number will nt be available when planning the system. The serial number field is ptinal in the SCT Zne Table The Zne table lists the znes defined previusly n the DAS Cnfiguratin page, including clumns fr the Zne number, Zne ID, Zne name and Ndes. Initially this clumn will be empty until yu add ne r mre Ndes t the zne. The Ndes are represented by gray bxes and identified by Zne number (#) as shwn in the Ndes table. T select nncnsecutive Ndes, hld dwn CTRL, and then click each Nde that yu want t select. T select cnsecutive Ndes, click the first Nde, hld dwn the SHIFT key, and then click the last Nde in the list. Drag the Ndes nt the desired Zne rw in the Ndes clumn. A semitransparent image f the Ndes will be shwn. When the image appears ver the prper rw, release the muse buttn. Yu can drag and drp additinal Ndes t the zne as needed. Remve a Nde by clicking the X beside the Nde in the Ndes clumn. If EMEA LP i-pois are used, it is pssible t cmbine MIMO sectrs with the same sectrizatin using the Interactive Tl. Mre custmizatin tls fr cnnecting tw sectrs t an i-poi are available in the SCT Interactive Tl. Add Services The Add Services feature allws yu t add multiple services t a system which can be used t represent pre-cmbined services r multiple inputs in an EMEA LP i-poi. Splitter Mde: In splitter mde, the SCT enables the hybrid and rutes the signal frm BTS Prt 1 t the DAS 1 and DAS 2 prts. The Aut calculate functin will calculate the pwer allcatin percentage fr each system based n the fllwing criteria: 1. The SCT lks at each band and determines hw many services are assigned t the band. 2. The SCT divides the number f services fr each peratr per band. S if Operatr A has services fr a band and Operatr B has services fr the band, each peratr will be allcated 50% f the PA s pwer. The SCT will, by default, prvide equal pwer sharing between peratrs. 3. The SCT then divides the allcatin based n the number f services per peratr. S if Operatr A has tw services assigned t the band and Operatr B has ne service assigned t the band, each f Operatr A s services will receive 25% f the pwer allcatin (50% divided by 2 services = 25%) and Operatr B s ne service will receive 50% f the pwer allcatin (50% divided by 1 service = 50%). Hwever, there is a limitatin because the tw paths fr LTE MIMO shuld have the same pwer allcatin percentage assigned. The rder f calculatin is then: 1. Divide pwer equally between the peratrs 2. Divide the allcatin between services taking int cnsideratin that the tw MIMO paths must be equal. The values in the System table Pwer Allcatin fields and the Summary table PA percentage per path values and P/Ch in dbm utput values are immediately updated with the calculated values after yu press the Aut calculate buttn. Interactive Tl Overview The Interactive Tl is a highly graphical interface that allws yu t edit the ION-U system design by mving and/r adding system hardware cmpnents t tailr the design t yur specific site requirements. The Interactive Tl allws yu t: Add racks and subracks, including POI, ION-U, and Pwer Supply subracks Add pwer supply mdules and Pwer Distributin Units Add cmpnents including cntrllers (RMC1600, dsmr, SRC, IFC), ESC 8 switches, fillers (blind cvers, cable trays, blind plates), and Site Manager (RMC1600) units. Merge i-pois r replace i-pois with different i-poi types. Edit cable selectins based n cable length requirements Mve subracks Mve mdules within subracks r mve them between subracks The current versin f the Interactive Tl des nt allw yu t: Add r delete, i-poi, Zne Cmbiner, Sectr Matrix, Sectr Cmbiner r OTRx mdules. (If tw i-pois are merged using the Interactive Tl, the unused i-poi will be deleted by the tl as part f the merging functin) Launching the Interactive Tl Nte: Editing the prject with the Interactive Tl will make permanent changes t the prject file (.sctu). This feature culd be used t make the system mre future-prf, fr example, by replacing single path i-pois such as the 18G with LTE capable dual path i-pois such as the 18/18. Select all f the i-pois that yu wish t substitute with a different type by CTRL-clicking each i-poi. Click the Replace i-pois buttn t pen the Replace i-pois ppup windw. 3. Click Replace buttn 1. The ION-U subracks accept a variety f cntrllers ranging frm the basic IFC (Interface) card t the SRC (Subrack Cntrller card) and dsmr measurement receiver. All cntrllers must be installed in Slt 1 (1 st slt n the left side f the subrack). T add a subrack cntrller t a subrack: Select Subrack Cntrllers frm the drp-dwn list in Cmpnents windw. Click and drag a cntrller frm the Cmpnents windw nt slt 1 f the subrack and drp it in place by releasing the muse buttn. T replace a subrack cntrller with a different type f cntrller: Click t select the current subrack cntrller and click n the Delete buttn under Rack Design r press the Delete key n the keybard. The ptins are: Ple Munting Kit Wall Munting Kit Nt Selected (n munting kit will be included) Type the serial number fr the RU/EU in the Serial Number field (ptinal). Click and drag t select the default Unit ID and then type in a new identificatin string fr the unit if necessary Add a Site Manager RMC1600 Cntrller The SCT supprts designs with multiple RMC1600 cntrllers. The SCT determines the number f RMC units based n tw rules. 1. One RMC 1600 can cntrl up t 200 mdules and 100 Remte Units. The SCT will add additinal RMC1600 units as needed fr larger systems. 2. T initiate the validatin prcess: Click n the Validate buttn lcated near the tp right f the screen r pen any reprt frm the Reprts menu. The Interactive tl checks the validity f the prject befre generating a reprt.
