1 Instructins fr authrs Jurnal f Physilgy and Bichemistry Aims and Scpe The Jurnal f Physilgy and Bichemistry publishes riginal research articles n relevant new bservatins n the different aspects f human physilgy and pathphysilgy, bichemistry, and related fields. It als publishes mini reviews n thse fields. All areas f the physilgy are cvered, frm the mlecular t the glbal rganism level. Special emphasis is placed n the integratin f thse levels in the whle-rganism, with the specific cntributin f the nervus and endcrine systems. The Jurnal f Physilgy and Bichemistry als welcmes articles n nutritinal studies and wrks related t the genmic r prtemic bases f the physilgical functins. Manuscript Submissin Manuscripts will be accepted fr review with the understanding that the same wrk has nt been published, and that it is nt under cnsideratin fr publicatin elsewhere. Submissin f a manuscript implies: - That the wrk described has nt been published befre - That it is nt under cnsideratin fr publicatin anywhere else - That its publicatin has been apprved by all c-authrs, if any, as well as by the respnsible authrities tacitly r explicitly at the institute where the wrk has been carried ut. The publisher will nt be held legally respnsible shuld there be any claims fr cmpensatin. Permissins Authrs wishing t include figures, tables, r text passages that have already been published elsewhere are required t btain permissin frm the cpyright wner(s) fr bth the print and nline frmat and t include evidence that such permissin has been granted when submitting their papers. Any material received withut such evidence will be assumed t riginate frm the authrs. Online Submissin Authrs shuld submit their manuscripts nline. Papers shuld fllw this rder: Title, Abstract with Key wrds, Intrductin, Materials and Methds, Results, Discussin, Acknwledgements and References. The text shuld be preferably written in the third persn. Tables, Legends t the figures shuld appear in separate pages. Manuscript Types The Jurnal f Physilgy and Bichemistry accepts submissins f the fllwing article types: - Original Research Articles - Mini Review Articles Mini Review articles shuld prvide a synthesis f state-f-the-art knwledge in specific research areas, highlighting new questins and especially future research directins. Authrs are particularly encuraged t use tables, diagrams and figures. Mini Review articles may be slicited by the editrs, but unslicited reviews will be cnsidered fr publicatin. Fr questins regarding if yur tpic fits within the scpe f the jurnal, please cntact the editrs. Mini Review articles shuld have a maximum f 5000 wrds (including references) and 70 references. It shuld be divided int: (1) abstract ( wrds), (2) intrductin, (3) text subdivided in paragraphs, (4) cnclusin r discussin. All Mini Review articles underg the same peer-review and editrial prcess as riginal research reprts. Title Page The title page shuld include: - The name(s) f the authr(s) - A cncise and infrmative title (< 120 characters including spaces) - The affiliatins and addresses f the authrs - The address, telephne and fax numbers f the crrespnding authr Abstract The abstract shuld be a ne-paragraph, self-explanatry, cncise text f 150 t 250 wrds. It shuld describe the backgrund and aims f the study, the methds used, the main results btained and the cnclusins reached. The abstract shuld nt cntain any uncmmn r undefined abbreviatins, Figures, Tables r References.

2 Keywrds Please prvide 4 t 6 keywrds (wrds r shrt phrases) that are relevant t the article, which can be used fr indexing purpses. Intrductin The intrductin shuld be shrt, with just the unavidable references t state the purpse f the study in relatin t ther wrks in the field. Materials and Methds Material and Methds shuld include enugh data t permit reprductin f the experiments, aviding details published elsewhere fr which references are sufficient. Statistical methds shuld be described clearly with references when apprpriate. In animal r human experimentatin supprting the results, all the Legal and Ethics requirements shuld be bserved. Results Results must be cncise and clearly expressed. Unnecessary repetitin f data fund in tables and figures shuld be avided. IS units shuld t be used, accrding t WHO advices. Discussin The Discussin shuld be written with bjectivity and cnciseness, aviding gratuitus hyptheses r excessive references. Citatin Reference citatins in the text shuld be identified by numbers in square brackets. Sme examples: - Negtiatin research spans many disciplines [3]. - This result was later cntradicted by Becker and Seligman [5]. - This effect has been widely studied [1-3, 7]. References The list f references shuld nly include wrks that are cited in the text and that have been published r accepted fr publicatin. Persnal cmmunicatins and unpublished wrks shuld nly be mentined in the text. D nt use ftntes r endntes as a substitute fr a reference list. The entries in the list shuld be numbered alphabetically by first authr. Fr the riginal research articles (nt fr the mini reviews), the number f references shuld nt be mre than 30-35: 1.) 3 Manuscripts with mathematical cntent can als be submitted in LaTeX. Headings Please use n mre than three levels f displayed headings. Abbreviatins Abbreviatins shuld be defined at first mentin and used cnsistently thereafter. Ftntes Ftntes can be used t give additinal infrmatin, which may include the citatin f a reference included in the reference list. They shuld nt cnsist slely f a reference citatin, and they shuld never include the bibligraphic details f a reference. They shuld als nt cntain any figures r tables. Ftntes t the text are numbered cnsecutively; thse t tables shuld be indicated by superscript lwer-case letters (r asterisks fr significance values and ther statistical data). Ftntes t the title r the authrs f the article are nt given reference symbls. Always use ftntes instead f endntes. Acknwledgments Acknwledgments f peple, grants, funds, etc. shuld be placed in a separate sectin befre the reference list. The names f funding rganizatins shuld be written in full. Tables The use f tables shuld be kept t a minimum. Tables shuld cntain as few rws and clumns as pssible and whenever pssible, data shuld be statistically elabrated. - All tables are t be numbered using Arabic numerals. - Tables shuld always be cited in text in cnsecutive numerical rder - Fr each table, please supply a table captin (title) explaining the cmpnents f the table. - Identify any previusly published material by giving the riginal surce in the frm f a reference at the end f the table captin. - Ftntes t tables shuld be indicated by superscript lwer-case letters (r asterisks fr significance values and ther statistical data) and included beneath the table bdy. Artwrk Fr the best quality final prduct, it is highly recmmended that yu submit all f yur artwrk phtgraphs, line drawings, etc. in an electrnic frmat. Yur art will then be prduced t the highest standards with the greatest accuracy t detail. The published wrk will directly reflect the quality f the artwrk prvided. Electrnic Figure Submissin - Supply all figures electrnically - Indicate what graphics prgram was used t create the artwrk - Fr vectr graphics, the preferred frmat is EPS; fr halftnes, please use TIFF frmat. MS Office files are als acceptable - Vectr graphics cntaining fnts must have the fnts embedded in the files - Name yur figure files with "Fig" and the figure number, e.g., Fig1.eps Line Art - Definitin: Black and white graphic with n shading - D nt use faint lines and/r lettering and check that all lines and lettering within the figures are legible at final size - All lines shuld be at least 0.1 mm (0.3 pt) wide - Scanned line drawings and line drawings in bitmap frmat shuld have a minimum reslutin f 1200 dpi - Vectr graphics cntaining fnts must have the fnts embedded in the files Halftne Art - Definitin: Phtgraphs, drawings, r paintings with fine shading, etc - If any magnificatin is used in the phtgraphs, indicate this by using scale bars within the figures themselves - Halftnes shuld have a minimum reslutin f 300 dpi Cmbinatin Art - Definitin: a cmbinatin f halftne and line art, e.g., halftnes cntaining line drawing, extensive lettering, clr diagrams, etc. - Cmbinatin artwrk shuld have a minimum reslutin f 600 dpi

4 Clr Art - Clr art is free f charge fr nline publicatin - If black and white will be shwn in the print versin, make sure that the main infrmatin will still be visible. Many clrs are nt distinguishable frm ne anther when cnverted t black and white. A simple way t check this is t make a xergraphic cpy t see if the necessary distinctins between the different clrs are still apparent - If the figures will be printed in black and white, d nt refer t clr in the captins - Clr illustratins shuld be submitted as RGB (8 bits per channel) Figure Lettering - T add lettering, it is best t use Helvetica r Arial (sans serif fnts) - Keep lettering cnsistently sized thrughut yur final-sized artwrk, usually abut 2 3 mm (8 12 pt) - Variance f type size within an illustratin shuld be minimal, e.g., d nt use 8-pt type n an axis and 20-pt type fr the axis label - Avid effects such as shading, utline letters, etc. - D nt include titles r captins within yur illustratins Figure Numbering - All figures are t be numbered using Arabic numerals - Figures shuld always be cited in text in cnsecutive numerical rder - Figure parts shuld be dented by lwercase letters (a, b, c, etc.) - If an appendix appears in yur article and it cntains ne r mre figures, cntinue the cnsecutive numbering f the main text. D nt number the appendix figures, "A1, A2, A3, etc." Figures in nline appendices (Electrnic Supplementary Material) shuld, hwever, be numbered separately Figure Captins - Each figure shuld have a cncise captin describing accurately what the figure depicts. Include the captins in the text file f the manuscript, nt in the figure file - Figure captins begin with the term Fig. in bld type, fllwed by the figure number, als in bld type - N punctuatin is t be included after the number, nr is any punctuatin t be placed at the end f the captin - Identify all elements fund in the figure in the figure captin; and use bxes, circles, etc., as crdinate pints in graphs - Identify previusly published material by giving the riginal surce in the frm f a reference citatin at the end f the figure captin Figure Legends - Figure legends shuld appear n a separate sheet at the end f the manuscript and be cmprehensible withut reference t the text. - The apprximate place f tables and figures must be indicated n the margin f the text. Permissins If yu include figures that have already been published elsewhere, yu must btain permissin frm the cpyright wner(s) fr bth the print and nline frmat. Please be aware that sme publishers d nt grant electrnic rights fr free and that Springer will nt be able t refund any csts that may have ccurred t receive these permissins. In such cases, material frm ther surces shuld be used. Electrnic supplementary material will be published as received frm the authr withut any cnversin, editing, r refrmatting Electrnic Supplementary Material Springer accepts electrnic multimedia files (animatins, mvies, audi, etc.) and ther supplementary files t be published nline alng with an article r a bk chapter. This feature can add dimensin t the authr's article, as certain infrmatin cannt be printed r is mre cnvenient in electrnic frm. Submissin - Supply all supplementary material in standard file frmats - T accmmdate user dwnlads, please keep in mind that larger-sized files may require very lng dwnlad times and that sme users may experience ther prblems during dwnlading Audi, Vide, and Animatins Always use MPEG-1 (.mpg) frmat Text and Presentatins - Submit yur material in PDF frmat;.dc r.ppt files are nt suitable fr lng-term viability - A cllectin f figures may als be cmbined in a PDF file

5 Spreadsheets Spreadsheets shuld be cnverted t PDF if n interactin with the data is intended. If the readers shuld be encuraged t make their wn calculatins, spreadsheets shuld be submitted as.xls files (MS Excel). Numbering - If supplying any supplementary material, the text must make specific mentin f the material as a citatin, similar t that f figures and tables (e.g., "... as shwn in Animatin 3") - Name yur files accrdingly, e.g., Animatin3.mpg Captins Fr each supplementary material, please supply a cncise captin describing the cntent f the file Ethical standard All papers using bth animals and humans must indicate that the prcedures fllwed were in accrdance with institutinal Guidelines Changes t authrship Authrs shuld carefully review the list and rder f authrs befre submitting their manuscript and give the definitive list f authrs at the time f submissin/resubmissin. Exceptinally, changes in the authrship (additin, deletin r rearrangement f authr names) culd be made nly befre the manuscript has been accepted and nly after the apprvalf the Editr. N changes in the authrship will be allwed after the acceptance f the manuscript. After acceptance Upn acceptance f yur article yu will receive a link t the special Authr Query Applicatin at Springer s web page where yu can sign the Cpyright Transfer Statement nline and indicate whether yu wish t rder OpenChice, ffprints, r printing f figures in clr. Once the Authr Query Applicatin has been cmpleted, yur article will be prcessed and yu will receive the prfs. Open Chice In additin t the nrmal publicatin prcess (whereby an article is submitted t the jurnal and access t that article is granted t custmers wh have purchased a subscriptin), Springer prvides an alternative publishing ptin: Springer Open Chice. A Springer Open Chice article receives all the benefits f a regular subscriptin-based article, but in additin is made available publicly thrugh Springer s nline platfrm SpringerLink. We regret that Springer Open Chice cannt be rdered fr published articles. Cpyright transfer Authrs will be asked t transfer cpyright f the article t the Publisher (r grant the Publisher exclusive publicatin and disseminatin rights). This will ensure the widest pssible prtectin and disseminatin f infrmatin under cpyright laws. Open Chice articles d nt require transfer f cpyright as the cpyright remains with the authr. In pting fr pen access, they agree t the Springer Open Chice License. Offprints Additinal ffprints can be rdered by the crrespnding authr. Clr illustratins Online publicatin f clr illustratins is free f charge. Fr clr in the print versin, authrs will be expected t make a cntributin twards the extra csts. Prf reading The purpse f the prf is t check fr typesetting r cnversin errrs and the cmpleteness and accuracy f the text, tables and figures. Substantial changes in cntent, e.g., new results, crrected values and title, are nt allwed withut the apprval f the Editr. After nline publicatin, further changes can nly be made in the frm f an Erratum, which will be hyperlinked t the article. Online First The article will be published nline after receipt f the crrected prfs. This is the fficial first publicatin citable with the DOI. After release f the printed versin, the paper can als be cited by issue and page numbers.
