3 1 Highlights during the reprting perid Task 1: Develp a cmmn methd f access t data held in repsitries: Cultural heritage: (i) as the gathered data n the wrecks in the Mediterranean and Black Sea regin were incmplete, cntacts have been made (several s were sent withut any feedback) with the prject manager f the Oxfrd Rman Ecnmy Prject t check the availability f mre cmplete data (with gegraphical psitins f all wrecks) and t identify ther relevant surces. (ii) Discussin with data prviders n wrecks and lighthuses have been reactivated after summer break with the bjective t find an agreement fr an extractin f their database and define the cnditins fr their disseminatin thrugh EMODnet prtal. Aquaculture: (i) Cllecting updated data fr freshwater farming in Belgium and harmnising cllected data. (ii) Checking the availability f up-dated data fr the cuntries already cvered. (iii) Cntacts are in prgress t ensure better gegraphical cverage. (iv) Marine aquaculture data set revisin. The pssible imprvements cnsidered by the members f the cnsrtium, regarding new datasets (seaweeds aquaculture), new segmentatins (species, rearing techniques, activity...), the accuracy f data (mving frm pints t plygns, crssing different surces...), the access t layers frm ther EMODnet prtals (depth, temperature, nutriments and planktn density, pllutants...), the integratin f interesting znings (sanitary and z-sanitary areas fr shellfish, areas targeted fr the develpment f aquaculture in natinal/reginal plans...) have been discussed with aquaculture natinal rganisatins during the AAC meeting which tk place in Brussels n 8 Octber The interest f prfessinal fr EMODnet has been cnfirmed and the ways fr enhancing its interest (regarding prfessinal s needs) have been identified. New datasets and prducts will be prpsed in the next mnth accrdingly Other updates: update f the aggregate extractin dataset; update f the hydrcarbn extractin dataset (active licenses and ffshre installatins); update f the cean energy facilities dataset; update f the wind farms dataset. All these updates are nt yet available nline. A new dataset n algae prductin has been received thrugh the Data Ingestin Prject. Submitted by the JRC, the dataset is nw being analysed in view f including it int EMODnet Human Activities. Task 2: Cnstruct prducts frm ne r mre data surces that prvide users with infrmatin abut the distributin f parameters in time and space: a dedicated machine has been purchased t prcess AIS data and create the vessel density maps. Barring unfreseen circumstances, the maps will be available befre the end f the year. New maps will be released as they becme available. Task 3: Develp prcedures fr machine-t-machine cnnectins t data and data prducts: nthing t reprt Task 4: Develp a web prtal allwing users t find, visualise and dwnlad data: the fllwing imprvements are being tested and will sn be available t users: (i) Allw nn-gis users t dwnlad csv files f each layer within a specified area; (ii) Implement adjustment f layer transparency (useful when multiple plygns are visualised); (iii) implement tls fr print, labelling and anntatin; (iv) implement a search facility; Task 5: Ensure the invlvement f reginal sea cnventins: nthing t reprt Task 6: Facilitate interperability with data distributed by nn-eu rganisatins: nthing t reprt. 4 2 Challenges encuntered during the reprting perid Main challenge Enlargement f the aquaculture dataset: In rder t ensure a better gegraphical cverage and t gather data fr cuntries that were nt cvered yet, several cntacts have been made, withut significant feedback frm the authrities.
