1 CAMPBELL COUNTY GILLETTE, WYOMING Electrical Inspectr Senir Electrical Inspectr Class specificatins are intended t present a descriptive list f the range f duties perfrmed by emplyees in the class. Specificatins are nt intended t reflect all duties perfrmed within the jb and/r department. DEFINITION T perfrm technical and administrative electrical inspectins t ensure cmpliance with and enfrce the Wyming State Statutes, Campbell Cunty Minimum Building Standards, Internatinal Cnference f Building Officials (ICBO) electrical guidelines, the Natinal Electrical Cde (NEC), and the Department f Public Wrks Plicies and Prcedures. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Electrical Inspectr - This is the entry/jurney level in the class series and serves as the training class fr Electrical Inspectrs. Psitins at this level usually perfrm mst f the duties required f the psitins f the Senir level, but usually exercise less independent discretin and judgment in matters related t wrk prcedures and methds. Exceptins r changes in prcedures are explained in detail as they arise. Senir Electrical Inspectr - This is the advanced jurney level in the class series. Psitins at this level are distinguished frm the Electrical Inspectr level by the perfrmance f the full range f duties as assigned, wrking independently and exercising judgment and initiative. Psitins at this level require specialized knwledge, abilities, skills, and experience, and ften exercise independent judgment in the perfrmance f their duties. Psitins at this level are fully aware f the perating prcedures and plicies f the department. Psitins at the Senir level are nrmally filled by advancement and successful perfrmance at the Electrical Inspectr level. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Exercise n supervisin. EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES Imprtant and essential duties may include, but are nt limited t, the fllwing: 1. Cnduct inspectins f buildings being cnstructed, repaired, r remdeled t determine cmpliance with NEC, state statutes, cunty adptins, and the Department f Public Wrks Plicies and Prcedures. 2. Design and engineer cunty electrical prjects as needed. 3. Write electrical specificatins fr cunty electrical prjects. 4. Review electrical specificatins written by thers. 5. Cunsel builders, cntractrs, engineers, and ther interested parties n electrical cde; make recmmendatins relating t apprpriate electrical cde. 6. Respnd t, investigate, and reslve cmplaints cncerning illegal electrical installatins and ther electrical cde vilatins. 7. Examine and review electrical cnstructin plans, crdinate meetings, and insure cmpliance with electrical cde. 8. Apprve the issuance f temprary electrical permits. 9. Cnsult with the Wyming Department f Fire Preventin and Electrical Safety and the lcal fire department and make recmmendatins n regulatry matters. 10. Dcument and maintain inspectin recrds. 11. Cmmunicate effectively cmmunicatins t enfrce the electrical cde requirements. Cnfer as necessary with ther inspectrs n the mst difficult inspectins r when cde interpretatin may be needed. 12. Prvide electrical cde interpretatin fr staff, architects, and engineers during preliminary design, pre-applicatin, plan check, and cnstructin phases f develpment. 13. Represent the Cunty at varius meetings regarding electrical cde issues. Remain current n electrical cde state statutes and cunty reslutins. Research electrical cde interpretatins t frmulate plicy. 14. Attend required cntinuing educatin classes 15. Adhere t safe wrk practices and prcedures. 16. Attend and participate in staff meetings and related activities; attend wrkshps, cnferences, and classes t increase prfessinal knwledge; serve n cmmittees as assigned. Mdern ffice prcedures, methds and equipment. Principles and practices f wrking safely. Safe driving principles and practices. Skill t: Operate mdern ffice equipment. Operate a mtr vehicle safely. Operate test equipment. Ability t: Perfrm technical inspectin wrk invlving the use f independent judgment and persnal initiative. Prepare and maintain inspectin recrds. Interpret, apply, and enfrce the requirements f the NEC, state statutes, and cunty reslutins including the Department f Public Wrks Plicies and Prcedures. Read and interpret electrical plans and drawings. Wrk and remain calm under stressful cnditins. Wrk with peple f different persnality types. Use cnsiderable tact, diplmacy, and interpersnal/human relatin skills t maintain psitive wrking relatins. Read, analyze, and interpret cmmn technical jurnals. Cmmunicate clearly and cncisely, bth rally and in writing. Exercise gd judgment, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity in interacting with the public and cntractrs. Establish, maintain, and fster psitive and harmnius wrking relatinships with thse cntacted in the curse f wrk. 4 Electrical cnstructin plans. Ability t: Assist with the design and implementatin f cunty electrical prjects. Interpret, explain, and enfrce the electrical cde required by Cunty and State. Independently prepare and perfrm the full range f the plan review prcess. Examine and review electrical cnstructin plans fr accuracy and cmpliance. Respnd t, investigate, and reslve inquiries frm the general public. Write and/r review electrical specificatins fr cunty electrical prjects. Prepare appeal infrmatin fr Bard packets. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES: Any cmbinatin equivalent t experience and training that wuld prvide the required knwledge, skills, and abilities wuld be qualifying. A typical way t btain the knwledge, skills, and abilities wuld be: Experience: Electrical Inspectr Fur years in electrical cnstructin as an Apprentice Electrician meeting Jurneyman Electrician requirements. Educatin/Training: Equivalent t tw years f cllege r trade apprenticeship and/r specialized training. Higher level skills requiring mre training time. Senir Electrical Inspectr Experience: Five t six years in electrical cnstructin (as an Apprentice and as a Jurneyman) meeting Master Electrician requirements. Educatin/Training: Equivalent t tw years f cllege r trade apprenticeship and/r specialized training. Higher level skills requiring mre training time. LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, OR REGISTRATIONS:

5 Must be current r btained within a specified time frame as defined upn emplyment. Electrical Inspectr Licensed Wyming Master Electrician. Valid driver's license. Senir Electrical Inspectr In additin t the qualificatins f Electrical Inspectr: ICBO Electrical Certificate (annual renewal). IAEA Electrical Certificate (annual renewal). WORKING CONDITIONS: Essential duties require the fllwing: Wrking Envirnment: Cnsiderable expsure t undesirable wrking cnditins such as extreme cld, heat, nise, and wrking utdrs. Wrking near mving equipment. Physical Activities: Essential functins require maintaining physical cnditin necessary fr cnsiderable physical activity such as sitting, standing, walking cruching/stping/squatting, climbing, and lifting an average f 20 lbs.; ability t drive t different sites and lcatins.
