1 Open Call fr Artists and Arts Prfessinals 2018 Open Call fr Artists and Arts Prfessinals 2018 All materials must be received by 5:00 pm EST n Friday, March 16, 2018 Art n the Atlanta BeltLine is seeking visual artists, perfrmers, musicians, lecturers, and histric preservatinists at every stage f their careers t apply fr ur 2018 exhibitin seasn. Histric, envirnmental, cultural, functinal, urban design, and/r aesthetic aspects f the Atlanta BeltLine may be gd starting pints t cnsider fr ptential prpsal submissins. Prjects shuld be well-researched, well-planned and feasible. Althugh nt limited t the fllwing examples, ptential prjects might include all r sme f the fllwing: Temprary art, sculptural r visual installatins; Amenities fr visitrs such as benches, bike racks, shade structures; Gateway r entrance wrks; Perfrmance wrks f all kinds, including but nt limited t street and travelling perfrmers, parade, music, dance, theater and perfrmance art; Utilizatin f fences r screening devices; Lan f existing artwrk, such as sculptures r assemblages; Murals; Envirnmental wrks; Schl r class prjects Prpsed materials shall be mdestly priced and durable, requiring minimal maintenance in an utdr setting. All wrks must be designed t be safely remved at the end f the designated perid, r disintegrate safely int the envirnment. All cnstructin, installatin, and de-installatin methds must be adequate and safe fr public interactin. Prjects must last thrughut the exhibitin perid; hwever, we are als interested in perfrmance wrks r ephemeral wrks that culd be scheduled t ccur peridically thrughut the timeframe. All wrks and perfrmances must be suitable fr all ages and audiences. Artists, Cllectives, and Prfessinals are invited t submit prpsals t any f the fllwing: BeltLine Walls A tw week lng mural festival at the beginning f August. Artists will wrk n their walls side by side fr the duratin f the festival, culminating in a grand reveal and cmmunity celebratin at the end f the festival. Perfrmance Series Artists are invited t perfrm alng the Atlanta BeltLine crridr thrughut the timeframe f the exhibitin. These perfrmances are nt limited in number f times the perfrmances may ccur, nr are they subject t any specific dates n which perfrmances must ccur. These are designed t act as a pp-up style events t creatively activate and celebrate the crridr in many lcatins. 1 art.beltline.rg

2 Open Call fr Artists and Arts Prfessinals 2018 BeltLine Cncert Series - Unlike its pp-up style cunterpart, these may take place in several BeltLine parks including Histric Furth Ward Park, Grdn White Park, The Skate Multipurpse Field, and Piedmnt Park. The Cncert Series prvides pprtunities fr artists that have technical requirements, and thse wh need a fixed lcatin. The dates fr these will be: August 18 th and 25 th Inertia Artists and Prfessinals are invited t submit prpsals fr this year s sculpture exhibitin alng the Atlanta BeltLine crridr. Sculptures may simultaneusly functin as a bench, pavilin, r ther infrastructural cmpnent. Lecture Series Artists and Prfessinals are invited t submit prpsals fr panel r individual discussin that will address tpics related t Arts & Culture, Ethics & Respnsibility, Equity, Affrdability, Science & Educatin, and Transit. Special Prjects We invite Atlanta arts and culture rganizatins t submit prpsals that use the Atlanta BeltLine t shw yur wrk/prject, hst a pp-up event, and many ther exciting ideas. BUDGET Amunts t be awarded vary by prject. Please nte that funds are limited, and in last year s awards the average amunt was $2,600 with amunts ranging between $500 and $6,000. Of the ttal grant amunt, artists shuld incrprate a minimum f 20 percent as an artist s fee in the budget that must be submitted with each prpsal. The award will cver the design (including artist s fee), fabricatin, shipping, installatin, maintenance, and de-installatin f the prject. SUBMISSIONS All materials must be received by 5:00 pm EST n Friday, March 16, 2018 in PDF Frmat. Cntact infrmatin fr all team members including name, address, telephne, and address; 4. Bigraphical infrmatin fr principal team members; 5. A written narrative describing yur prpsal, perfrmance, r existing piece What is the piece and what des it mean? (NOT TO EXCEED 250 WORDS); 6. List f materials and step by step installatin plan. Fr perfrmers, list technical requirements and a step by step lad-in and strike plan; 7. Detailed budget shwing hw much is being requested, hw the budget will be used, surce fr materials, and artist's fee. 8. Visual Artists shuld submit at least three sketches, shwing scale, dimensins, and elevatin f the prpsed r existing wrk; five images f previus wrk (JPEG r PDF) r related prjects f recent artwrks (nt t exceed 1024 x 768 pixels at a minimum f 150 dpi prvided n disk r upladed) accmpanied by a sheet with descriptin f each wrk sample; 9. Perfrming Artists shuld submit a brief descriptin and cntext fr wrk samples. The samples shuld be n a DVD r prvide a URL t an nline surce; Perfrming artists need t identify and explain any technical needs (including electricity) and submit this as a separate dcument identified as the tech rider; 10. Des the wrk fit in with the verall cncept f the Art n the Atlanta BeltLine prject being an utdr, temprary linear gallery space? Artistic Merit/Quality Des the prject demnstrate high technical skill? Is it artistically engaging and stimulating? Will it be appreciated by the general public? D the ther examples f wrk submitted supprt the artistic merit/quality f the prpsal? Feasibility Is the prpsed budget reasnable? Can the prject be executed fr the requested amunt? Can the wrk be executed within the exhibitin timeline? (e.g. n sharp edges r elements which might present a pssible danger t the public) Perfrmance Is the prpsal feasible based n experience, budget, and infrastructure/tech requirements? PROJECT HISTORY The Atlanta BeltLine is an emerging system f parks, trails, transit and ecnmic develpment that reclaims mstly abandned rail crridrs. With an emphasis n public spaces, imprved transprtatin, cultural amenities and revitalizing neighbrhds, it has the ptential t redefine the city and make it a better place t live, wrk and play. TERMS AND CONDITIONS By submitting a prpsal, the Offerr is accepting the fllwing Terms and Cnditins, and these terms and cnditins shall frm the basis f any cntract awarded as a result f the publicatin f this RFP: 1. Offerr shall hld harmless ABI, Invest Atlanta, and the City f Atlanta against any and all claims, judgments r liabilities t which they may be subject as a result f any breach f cntract r negligence assciated with, arising frm, r relating t the submissin by respnder f a prpsal in respnse t this RFP; 2. Offerr agrees that its status shall be that f an independent cntractr, and neither it nr any f its emplyees r subcntractrs is r shall be an agent, servant r emplyee f ABI, Invest Atlanta, r the City f Atlanta; 3. Offerr agrees that ABI shall be permitted t use and reprduce images f the selected prjects fr prmtinal purpses; 4. All prpsal submissins becme the prperty f ABI; and 5. 6 PROTESTS Any prtest f the RFP slicitatin dcuments r prcess shall be submitted fr reslutin t: Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. Prcurement Officer 100 Peachtree Street NW, Suite 2300 Atlanta, GA Such prtest shall be in writing and shall be supprted by the infrmatin necessary t enable the prtest t be cnsidered. A prtest will nt be cnsidered if it is insufficiently supprted r it is nt received within the time limits specified herein. A prtest based upn terms, cnditins, r frm f a prpsed prcurement actin shall be submitted s that it is received by ABI n later than ten (10) calendar days fllwing ntificatin f the actin by ABI.
