1 Brisbane Camera Grup 'Annual Cmpetitin' takes place in Nvember each year. It's the highlight f the club cmpetitin year and submissin standards are cnsistently high. All graded members are eligible and encuraged t cmpete. Trphies and prizes are ffered t sectin winners. The prize-giving takes place at the annual dinner and the names f the winners are nt revealed until the award ceremny Print and DPI Annual Cmpetitin Rules This year s BCG Annual Cmpetitin will be judged n Sunday, 4 Nvember 2018 with results presented at the Annual Dinner n Mnday 3 December The due date fr entries is: Mnday, 22 Octber 2018 fr all media. It is the respnsibility f the entrant t arrange delivery f entries prir t the cut-ff date. N late entries will be accepted. Prints are t be submitted in persn t the Print Manager, and the assciated DPI is t be submitted via the website. Print entries withut a submitted DPI will nt be accepted. DPI entries are t be submitted via the website. Cmpetitin Rules 1. The BCG Annual cmpetitin is pen t Life Members and Members nly. Affiliates and Hnrary Members are nt eligible t cmpete. 2. Members must cmpete in their grade. (If yu have nt been graded unfrtunately yu are nt eligible t enter.) 3. Acceptable media fr the annual cmpetitin are phtgraphs submitted as prints and DPIs (digitally prjected images). The APS definitin f a phtgraph is an image taken n a camera. Only images that were primarily generated using a camera are eligible fr entry t the print and DPI cmpetitins. Cmputer generated imagery (digital art) is eligible nly fr the AV cmpetitins. In additin t this, members may als submit audi-visual (AV) presentatins which are bradly gverned by the Interclub AV Rules (refer AV rules fr mre infrmatin). 4. The Annual Cmpetitin is made up f six subjects: Pictrial Mnchrme Pictrial Clur Nature Peple Creative / Experimental Scial Dcumentary / Phtjurnalism 5. A maximum f fur images can be submitted in each subject f the Annual Cmpetitin. These can be made up f any cmbinatin f prints and DPIs as lng as the number des nt exceed a ttal f fur images. The fllwing cmbinatins are acceptable: 4 prints, 0 DPIs 3 prints, 1 DPI 2 prints, 2 DPIs 1 print, 3 DPIs 0 prints, 4 DPIs 1

2 6. If a member has submitted mre than 4 entries acrss prints and DPIs in any subject, the Cmpetitin Managers will have the right t remve enugh entries t meet the guidelines abve. If the errr is nt discvered until after the judging has been cmpleted, entries will be remved in rder f highest scre until the guidelines have been met. Nature - Depicting wild animals and uncultivated plants in a natural habitat, plus natural and gelgical phenmena such as icebergs and weather patterns. Phtgraphs featuring dmesticated r caged animals and cultivated plants are ineligible. Phtgraphs can include man-made elements (e.g. wild animals and natural disasters in urban areas) hwever they must nt be the main fcus f the image. Individual elements f the image must nt be added r remved. Peple - A phtgraph featuring humans as the main subject matter, either by themselves r in grups. Images submitted int this subject can be candid (e.g. a wedding) r staged, such as in a prtrait. Other bjects can be present within the image, as lng as they are secndary t the persn r peple that the pht features. Creative / Experimental - A phtgraph which cntains an unusual viewpint and/r cmbinatin f bjects which is used t create a pleasing effect, r a phtgraph that have been mdified during r after expsure by the use f a creative r experimental technique (such as crss-prcessing and dubleexpsures, amng ther things). The picture must have a basic phtgraphic image. Digital prcesses that are the wrk f the entrant are included. Scial Dcumentary / Phtjurnalism - Prtraying and interpreting sciety using bth human and nn-human subject matter in either an editrial r stry-telling fashin; similar t what is seen in news media and peridicals. They may include dcumentary, cntemprary life, current events, sprt and sprting news r human interest. Individual elements f the image must nt be added r remved. Eg a rubbish bin r sign cannt be remved. Mnchrme - Any phtgraph that cntains shades f nly ne clur. If tning is carried ut, it must be ver the ttal phtgraph partial tning and/r the additin f ne extra clur are nt acceptable in the mnchrme subject. Clur Any phtgraph that cntains shades f multiple clurs. Mst Human Interest Mnchrme (HIM) - Media: Open t images in bth media (Prints & DPIs). Presenting peple and their prblems, cncerns, r achievements in a way that aruses interest r sympathy. Images are t be entered in this cmpetitin via the website. Nte: this is a Mnchrme nly award. Mst Artistic Phtgraph (MAP) - Media: Open t images in bth media (Prints & DPIs). Image must be cnsidered Fine Art. Fine art phtgraphy refers t phtgraphs that are created t fulfil the creative visin f the artist. Fine art phtgraphy is created primarily as an expressin f the artist s visin and feelings. All images must have been expsed by the wner Images are t be entered in this cmpetitin via the website. Only 2 images can be selected fr HIM. Nte: This is a Mnchrme nly award. Mst Artistic Phtgraph (MAP) Media: Open t images in all media (Prints & DPIs). Image must be cnsidered Fine Art. Images are t be entered in this cmpetitin via the website. 4 Entry Requirements Please ensure yu understand the cmpetitin rules prir t entering! Digitally Prjected Images (DPIs) fr the Annual Cmpetitin Submissin f DPIs Entries are t be submitted via the website. Entries are due n r befre midnight n Mnday 22 Octber 2018 File Size & Labelling Requirements fr DPIs Digital entries must cmply with the fllwing frmat: maximum width (hrizntal dimensin) is 1920 pixels maximum height (vertical dimensin) is 1080 pixels file must be in srgb JPEG frmat maximum file size is 2MB per image Filenames must have a [title] nly. DPIs that are entered fr special awards must be entered twice. Cmpetitins have been set up fr these entries. If a special award entry is nt a secnd entry, it will nt be accepted. Fr example, a member enters [Dwn and Out] as a mnchrme in Pht Jurnalism, they wuld als enter this image in Human Interest. 5 Submissin f prints Prints fr the Annual Cmpetitin Entries are due at the BCG meeting n Mnday 22 Octber 2018 Entries may be submitted in persn t the Print Manager (Mary Wilsn) r t anther BCG Cmmittee member by arrangement. Prints can be any size and shuld be matted hwever the maximum mat dimensin is 400 mm x 500 mm (16 x 20 ) Labels printed frm the Cmpetitin sectin f the website are t be affixed t the back f yur print. If yur print is an entrant in a Special Award, the label fr that award shuld be affixed als. Please ensure that when printing the Labels yur name is NOT included. Nte: This checklist is nt t be handed in, it is yur reference. Yu must have been graded befre submitting yur entries. Members wh have nt been graded are nt eligible t enter. 1.
