It als invlves carrying ut user maintenance and fault-finding prcedures n radi equipment and pwer supplies, and perating an emergency psitin indicating radi beacn (EPIRB), a search and rescue radar transpnder (SART), autmatic identificatin system - search and rescue transmitter (AIS-SART), and autmatic identificatin system man verbard (AIS- MOB) device, and digital selective calling man verbard (DSC-MOB) device. This unit applies t Cxswains and Masters f cmmercial vessels wh use marine radi and telephne equipment t transmit and receive infrmatin t and frm shre and vessel-based peratrs. They wrk relatively independently under brad peratinal requirements, with limited accuntability and respnsibility fr themselves and thers in achieving the prescribed utcmes. ASSESSMENT CONDITIONS Assessrs must satisfy Natinal Vcatinal Educatin and Training Regulatr (NVR)/Australian Quality Training Framewrk (AQTF) assessr requirements. Assessment must ccur in peratinal situatins n bard an peratinal cmmercial r training vessel. Where this is nt apprpriate assessment must ccur in simulated radi cmmunicatin activities and exercises, cvering a range f nrmal and emergency radi cmmunicatin situatins that are typically experienced n a vessel. Fr certificatin requirements specified in the Radicmmunicatins Act 1992 assessment must cmply with the assessment requirements f the relevant maritime regulatins. The candidate must demnstrate accurate and cnsistent use and maintenance f radi equipment t send and receive messages and signals under nrmal and emergency situatins accrding t internatinal and natinal radi regulatins.
