3 2017 NEC Significant Cde Changes Part 2 LEARNING OBJECTIVES Upn cmpletin f this curse the student will be able t: 1. Becme familiar with sme f the significant changes including additins, deletins, and mdificatin t the 2017 Editin f NFPA 70: Natinal Electrical Cde (NEC) frm the 2014 Editin. 2. Cmprehend, after reviewing the significant changes and additins t the 2017 Editin f NFPA 70: Natinal Electrical Cde (NEC) the large scpe f the changes t the cde, thereby seeking additinal and mre thrugh reviews f the entire cde, fllwing cmpletin f this curse. INTRODUCTION Every three years, the Natinal Electrical Cde (NEC ) is revised and expanded. Initially the NFPA received 4,012 public suggestins fr changes, which resulted in 1,235 first revisins. There were 1,513 public cmments submitted in respnse t these 1,235 first revisins, resulting anyne participating in the electrical industry t get up t speed with all the changes. What t Expect In this curse the student will be presented an verview f the mst significant changes fund in the 2017 NEC. This is part 2 f a series f curses cvering the changes and will prgress thrugh each chapter and its articles presenting the many imprtant changes. The changes will be highlighted fr easy recgnitin and a shrt synpsis f the reasn fr the change is presented as well. in 559 secnd revisins. Changes included editrial clarificatin, expanded requirements, new requirements, deleted requirements, and the relcatin f ther requirements. Nine new articles were prpsed, and five new articles were added t the 2017 NEC. With the fast pace f technlgy, it s mre imprtant than ever fr 2017 NEC Significant Cde Changes Part 2 1
