Prior to class, you will need to stop by the shop so that we may help with your quilt design and calculate your fabric yardage needs. Each month you will learn the techniques needed to hand stitch a different appliqué block from the book Jo s Floral Album by Jo Morton. Register for either the afternoon or evening session, as both sessions will be identical. 3rd Monday of the Month February 19 October 22 Time: 2:00 4:00 p.m. OR 6:30-8:30 p.m. Instructor: Lorraine McNeal Class Fee: $10 Member/ $12 Non-Member Brimfield Block In the spring of 2017, two friends donned fanny packs and combed the acreage of Brimfield Massachusetts looking for textiles from decades past. They unearthed orphaned quilts and blocks, pieced by hand and long forgotten. They thought it was time to bring this artistry back to our century. Join Lorraine and explore English Paper Piecing and all the wonderment of the Brimfield Block. Date: Wednesday, February 21 Time: 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Instructor: Lorraine McNeal Class Fee: $12 Member/$15 Non-Member Sea Glass We usually associate a Diamond Rectangle unit with a traditional Storm at Sea design, but think again! The Sea Glass project from Studio 180 Design is a great example of what else you can do with this simple unit. As always, when using Studio 180 Design rulers, Barb will show you how to make your units oversized and then trim them to perfection using the Diamond Rects tool. Coopering Beginning Coopering Learn a truly unique and historic skill in this fun beginners class! You ll make a complete wooden bucket from start to finish using the same tools and techniques coopers have been using for centuries. From making the staves and bottom to assembling and banding the bucket, this will be a great and memorable experience! Apprenticeships Broom Making Have you ever wanted to learn to make a broom from one of our craftsmen but didn t know where to start? We are excited to offer our broom apprentice program! You ll get one-on-one training from our own master craftsmen and make beautiful works to take home. We ll work with you to arrange a day and time that works best for you once you register. Custom Rug Hooking Class Come learn the basic techniques of traditional rug hooking or get some help on a project you are working on. If you have a project already, bring it along. This is your chance to improve your rug hooking skills. Date: Flexible Instructor: Rebecca Landin Class Fee: $35 Member / $40 Non-Member Skill Level: Open to all skill levels (3 hours of instruction) Spinning Come and learn to turn wool into yarn! You will have an opportunity to work with various spinning tools (drop spindle, great wheel, castle wheel, saxony wheel) and use them to spin yarn. Supplies are included in the class fee. Wheels for spinning will be available, but you are encouraged to bring your own drop spindle or spinning wheel in good working condition. In addition, you will receive a discount on spinning supplies from our spinning shop.
