ISSUE 37, TERM Welcome to the class listing for third term It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Judith at the end of the school holidays. As you all know, Judith has been a main stay of the shop since just after we opened, and she will be sadly missed by us all. Jude may be leaving the shop but we will still see her around as she has agreed to become our shop quilter. Jackie, who has been with us for just about as long as Judith, (She followed Judith to us) has offered to put up a class for us for term 3. So as one door closes another is opened. Davena s class this term is something special in blues but also a second quilt using the same techniques but a simpler pattern so very suitable for the ladies who have done their beginners and would like to try something a little more challenging. Gayle has a really lovely pieced bag as well as some super quilts. And I have a few new quilts to offer as well. We hope to see you in the shop checking out the class samples and all the new fabrics we have in stock. I would like to say thank you to all the ladies who visited and took advantage of our weekly specials last term. I have had a play with it and this terms weekly specials are on page three. Requirements for class will only be given out on payment of registration. Class fees are non-refundable. You may transfer to another class up until 7 days prior to scheduled class. After that we are committed to run the class so there are no transfers or credits. A credit will be give for classes cancelled due to lack of numbers. Have your sewing machine in good working order. Your own Rotary cutter, Board and Rulers are required for classes. Please purchase all class requirements prior to day of class. Please do not bring children or guests to a class. Or how about a panel and some coordinating fabrics to make this little beauty. Beginners Patchwork (Beg) $ x 5 hrs with Sue Dill. 9:30-3:00 Saturday July 29th A great starting point. Learn how to use your tools correctly and to stitch an accurate ¼ seam. This class covers the basics of cutting, stitching and re-squaring your blocks and will set you on the path to making many beautiful quilts in the future. Beginners Machine Sampler (Beg) $ x 2 ½ hrs with Gayle Jones. 12:30-3:00 Tuesday August 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th & September 5th. Join Gayle and over six weeks learn all the different techniques to make up the nine blocks in this lovely Sampler Quilt. You are sure to have some fun and a few laughs along the way. Sewing machine with ¼ foot, Rotary cutter, Board and Quilters Beginners Hand Applique Sampler (Beg) $ x 2 ½ hrs with Robyn Macdonald. 12:30-3:00 Wednesday August 2nd, 9th, 16th 23rd, 30th & September 6th. Join Robyn for six lessons covering all the basics of needle turn appliqué. At the end of the six weeks you will have a beautiful appliquéd quilt top ready to be quilted, Robyn can also show you the basics of how to hand quilt your masterpiece.

6 P 6 P AGE AGE 6 Elephant Tracks (Beg) $ x 5 hrs with Gayle Jones. 9:30-3:00 Saturday August 5th. This quilt is made with simple piecing, using your favourite feature fabric, and Gayle will show you how to bind your quilt with double bindind to frame and finish your new quilt. Sewing machine with ¼ foot, Rotary cutter, Board and Quilters Tangled Triangles (Int) $ x 5 hrs with Davena Watts. 9:30-3:00 Saturday August 12th This quilt is made using the Tri-Recs ruler. Join Davena and she will show you the many uses of it. Patterns for both Twisted Triangles and Tri-Recs Twirls will go home with each student from the class. The Twisted Triangles Quilt look difficult but it is not so, I think the pieced border makes this quilt. But you will be amazed how easy it is to make. Sewing machine with ¼ foot, Rotary cutter, Board and Quilters Tri-Recs Twirls (Beg) $ $ x 5 hrs with Davena Watts. 9:30-3:00 Saturday August 12th Tri-Recs Twirls is the more beginner friendly quilt Davena is offering in this class, but you will receive both patterns on the day. So why not start easy with this class and put the pattern for Tangled Angles away for a little while till you feel a bit more able to tackle it. Finish your Beginners Patchwork (Beg) $ x 5 hrs with Sue Drill. 9:30-3:00 Saturday August 19th A class that covers set-in triangles, corner triangles and borders. Bring along your Beginners Patchwork blocks and I will show you how to put them together into a quilt. Sewing machine with ¼ foot, Rotary cutter, Board and Quilters

7 P 7 P AGE AGE 7 Oh, Oh, Oh. (Int) $ x 5 hrs with Sue Drill. 9:30-3:00 Saturday August 19th This is a quilt I started a while ago, I came across it the other week and decided to finish it up. It is made with Fat ¼ s so if you have a stack of fabrics all from one range this may be the quilt for it. Now that it is all together I really like it. It has been made from a range of fabric we had when the shop was only a few years old. Japanese Windmill Bag (Int) $ x 5hrs with Gayle Jones. 9:30-3:00 Saturday August 26th Using the pre-cut 4 squares of textured, woven, Japanese fabrics, we have in the shop. Gayle has made this really special bag, with a zip top and an inside pocket. Join Gayle and make your very own special bag. That you will be proud to say. I made it myself. Stepping Stones (Beg) $ x 5 hrs with Jackie Bailey. 9:30-3:00 Saturday September 2nd This is Jackies first class with us as a teacher and we are all very happy she has agreed to teach her Stepping Stones Quilt. Jackie made hers quilt from Flannels a couple of years ago. But I think it would look just as lovely in cottons. Say soft floral s for yourself or a girlfriend but a strong masculine range would make a lovely quilt for the man in your life. rulers required for class Side Framed (Beg) $ x 5 hrs with Sue Drill. 9:30-3:00 Saturday September 9th Free Class with Purchase of the Kit. Another fast and fun quilt that makes the feature fabric the star of the show. I put this quilt together from start to finish in a weekend. Made using strata s and strips this is a quilt that takes no time at all to put together. If you have a fabric that needs to stand alone this may be the pattern for you.

Purchase of the kit allows you to take this class for free. Or make it with your own range of fabrics, for a super fast lap quilt in no time at all. Beginners Hand Applique Workshop (Beg) $ x 5 hrs with Robyn Macdonald. 9:30-3:00 Saturday September 16th Let Robyn show you how to make beautiful pictures with fabric. Using the art of needle turn appliqué. This is a beginners class covering Pattern transfer, flowers, leaves & bias stems Beginners Hand Quilting Workshop (Beg) $ x 2 ½ hrs with Robyn Macdonald 12:30-3:00 Saturday September 16th Have you ever wanted to learn how to Hand Quilt? Join Robyn for this 2 ½ hr workshop and she will explain to you all the in s and out s of Hand Quilting. Pre-Printed panel with wadding and backing at $24.95 available On the Town (Beg) $ x 5 hrs with Gayle Jones. 9:30-3:00 Saturday September 23rd This quilt from Gayle gave her a few headaches in the making but a usual, she conquered it and the quilt is just lovely. The Feature fabric we have in stock in either Pink or Blue. So one for the boys and one for the girls
