Take 20% off holiday precuts, kits, books, and patterns Free Motion Quilting Using Rulers Machine quilting using rulers on a domestic sewing machine has been getting a lot of attention in the quilting world recently. If you ve purchased the Bernina 72 foot and ruler kit and want to get started using them, this 2-session class is for you. In the first 3- hour class, you ll learn how to use the Bernina rulers and practice on muslin. You ll play with the 5 rulers that come in the Bernina starter set. In the second 3-hour class, you ll work with the rulers on a simple table runner you ve made prior to class. Working with rulers will open a whole new world of fee-motion quilting to you. It take a little practice, but once you get the hang of it, you ll be hooked. Round Tuffet Wouldn t it be fun to use our favorite fabric to make a piece of furniture? If this sounds interesting, then this is the class for you. In just two classes you will create your own unique tuffet. If you know how to use a rotary cutter and can sew a straight line, the class will be nothing but fun. In the first class you learn the technique to make the cover to your tuffet. You will then have time to complete your cover before the second class. The second class we put it all together. Required: Upholstery kit - $120 fee payable to the instructor. Rotary cutter experience. Instructor: Julie Fee: $63 Saturdays, January 13; 12 3 pm and February 3, 12 4pm Our embroidery club is planned to help you make a new project each month, each designed by Kimberbell Designs, and each featuring a new technique to learn or practice. Most of the materials needed will be included in your class fee. Register for each month. Snowflake Kisses Pillow From the first snow flurry of November through Valentine s Day this charming snowman will melt your heart. He features a chenille cuff on his hat and a cursive backstitched sentiment (If snowflakes were kisses I d send you a blizzard) that is done in a separate hooping. You can use some of your scraps to join the two elements into a decorative pillow, a useful hot pad or whatever else your creativity comes up with. 4 Page 4 Have your completed your Block? This month s Saturday Sampler Demos are December 6, 7, or 8 Show us your completed block to receive your next block free! Square Tuffet As with the very successful round tuffet class, the square tuffet will require sewing skills. With the use of templates, you will cut out all the pieces you need to finish your unique piece of furniture. The remainder of our time is spent learning how to sew 1/4 of your tuffet cover together. This will give you the confidence to go home and sew the remaining 3 sections. In the second class, we get out the power tools and you put it all together. 5 Page 5 Quilts for Kids On the first Tuesday of each month (exceptions starred) a group of experienced, charityminded quilters meet at PQW to sew for the organization, Quilts for Kids. Quilts are donated to care facilities to be given to children who are ill, abused, or in difficult situations who could use the comfort of a handmade quilt. Although all the spots for sewing participants are filled, we can certainly use more volunteers to sew quilts at home. Kits will be provided. Meets: 10:15 am 3 pm January 15*, February 5, March 6*, April 2, May 7, June 4 English Paper Piecing Group 2019 Sew excited that you will be joining us for the 4th year of the Pennington Quilt Works English Paper Piecing Club. In this club you will receive EPP advice from the instructor, see what others are making, and sit and stitch for two uninterrupted hours. Along the way you will visit with friends old and new, learn the benefit of slow sewing and make a lovely project by hand. We will be focusing on the following EPP project: Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses Required: **If you are new to English Paper Piecing, you must attend a how-to session for an additional fee or the Lucy Boston class. A supply list will be given or sent to you at that time. 100% of class fees are refundable or transferable to another class if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before class. No credit, refund or transfer to another class will be given if 72-hour notice is not given. Our teachers prepare for each student in each class in advance of the class. No-shows forfeit any refund or exchange. Private Class For times when a regularly scheduled class just won t do, we offer private classes to fill the void. Let s say that a class you're interested in requires rotary skills, and you re still snipping along with scissors. Well a 1-hour private class will bring you up to speed. Or say that you really want to get the hang of paper-piecing or some other skill. Or maybe our classes just don t fit in your schedule. Talk to any one of us and we ll find you the right person at the right time to teach you what you need to know. $25 per hour per person.

6 Page 6 Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses The beloved children s book author Lucy Boston was also a prolific quilt maker. In this class you will learn how to use the English Paper Technique to make her most famous quilt, The Patchwork of the Crosses. You will also learn tips and tricks for perfect fussy cutting. Required: Book Instructor: Marisa Fee: $30 Wednesday, January 23; 10:30am-1:30pm Beginner Machine Quilting Your quilt top is finally pieced and your pattern ends with those three scary words quilt as desired. Now what? Take a deep breath, drop those feed dogs and start machine quilting! In this class, you ll learn to freemotion quilt some basic designs including curved lines, meandering, echoing and loops. We ll also discuss needles, threads, batting and tension.
