2 Page 2 Sew and Craft for the Holidays Pennington Quilt Works is excited to be partnering with Princeton Public Library for a Sew and Craft Event on Saturday November 18th. Instructors from Pennington Quilt Works provide sewing machines and a variety of fabrics and trimmings for many holidays for these one-hour sessions. Participants can create a fabric gift bag, a personalized card, a unique photo frame using washi tape plus an ornament. Sessions available for tweens, teens and adults. I ll give you hints on how to pick and cut ahead so you can get most of a quilt top done in 4 hours. Instructor: Eve Friday, December 15; 12 4 pm Fishy Placemats If you have ever desired to make an art quilt but don't know where to start, why not begin with a smaller scale design like these fun, colorful fish placemats! They are designed by Laura Heine. We will make one of the fish placemats in class, you will learn about color placement and fused raw edged quilting so you will be able to finish the others at home. 4 Page 4 Big Flower Pillow Class Do you have leftover fabric with fusible web on the back or smaller fabric scraps you refuse to throw out because you love them and want to include them in another Project? This big Flower pillow is a perfect use for those pieces (you can certainly choose new fabric if your stash is low)! We will be cutting shapes from a template positioning and fusing them to a background and embellishing with some free motion quilting. piece becomes a lovely top to a zippered pillow you will make in class. Instructor: Eve Saturday, January 20; 10 am 2 pm Free Motion Quilting Using Rulers Rulers aren t just for longarm quilters anymore. Machine quilting using rulers on a domestic sewing machine has been getting a lot of attention in the quilting world recently. If you ve purchased the Bernina 72 foot and ruler kit and want to get started using them, this 2-session class is for you. In the first 3-hour class, you ll learn how to use the Bernina rulers and practice on muslin. You ll play with the 5 rulers that come in the Bernina starter set. In the second 3- hour class, you ll work with the rulers on a simple table runner you ve made prior to class. Working with rulers will open a whole new world of fee-motion quilting to you. It take a little practice, but once you get the hang of it, you ll be hooked. Required: ruler kit and Bernina 72 foot, and confidence in free motion quilting Instructor: Sue Fee: $54 Fridays, January 26 and February 2, 1 4 pm Beginner Machine Quilting I Your quilt top is finally pieced and your pattern ends with those three scary words quilt as desired. Now what? Take a deep breath, drop those feed dogs and start machine quilting! In this class, you ll learn to free-motion quilt some basic designs including curved lines, meandering, echoing, and loops. We ll also discuss needles, threads, batting and tension. Instructor: Sue Sunday, January 28; 12 4 pm Class registration policy Full payment is due upon signing up for a class. You can make payment in the store, online, or by phone. A supply list will be given or sent to you at that time. 100% of class fees are refundable or transferable to another class if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before class. No credit, refund or transfer to another class will be given if 72-hour notice is not given. Our teachers prepare for each student in each class in advance of the class. No-shows forfeit any refund or exchange. Private Class For times when a regularly scheduled class just won t do, we offer private classes to fill the void. Let s say that a class you're interested in requires rotary skills, and you re still snipping along with scissors. Well a 1- hour private class will bring you up to speed. Or say that you really want to get the hang of paper-piecing or some other skill. Or maybe our classes just don t fit in your schedule. Talk to any one of us and we ll find you the right person at the right time to teach you what you need to know. $25 per hour per person.

5 Page 5 My MACHINE CLUBS AT PQW Quilts for Kids On the first Tuesday of each month a group of charity-minded quilters meets at PQW to sew together for the organization, Quilts for Kids. Quilts are given to children who are ill, abused, or in difficult situations who could use the comfort of a quilt made for them. Experienced quilters only, please. Please bring your lunch or snack, your machine and sewing supplies. Quilt kits will be provided. Please register ahead so we know how many to expect.
