1 Upcoming Classes Lucky Stars: A Start to Finish Quilt Count the number of stars you want to make, select that many fat quarters and some background fabric, then put them together in a setting that is both unique and easy. From the first cut to the last stitch we ll be with you all the way. The quilt we will make in this class is 60 x75. It requires a pattern. Have you only tried tote bags or drawstring bags? Time for the next step! These basic purse making skills can carry onto other bags you want to make in the future: sewing with sturdy interfacing, a welted zipper pocket, adjustable strap, twist lock hardware, and a sewn on pocket. Machine quilting using rulers on a domestic sewing machine has been getting a lot of attention in the quilting world recently. If you ve purchased the Bernina 72 foot and ruler kit and want to get started using them, this 2-session class is for you. Working with rulers will open a whole new world of free-motion quilting to you. It takes a little practice, but once you get the hang of it, you ll be hooked! Our embroidery club is planned to help you make a new project each month, each designed by Kimberbell Designs, and each featuring a new technique to learn or practice. Most of the materials needed will be included in your class fee. Register for each month. Bunny Treat Bag Some bunny is going to be very hoppy to receive this little bag filled with treats. More Free Motion Quilting Using Rulers Ready to have some more fun with rulers? In this class, we ll create a sampler piece using designs from Bernina s online WeAllSew Ruler work Quilt-Along and Amanda Murphy s book Rulerwork Quilting Idea Book. And, of course, there will be lots of Sue s tips and tricks thrown in too! We ll stitch out 15 different designs using the Bernina straight-edge ruler, circle rulers and oval rulers. Find your favorite fabrics, do some prep before class, and finish this project in class. This makes a great gift and is fat quarter friendly. Pattern is required and includes overlay. Instructor: Arlene Fee: $27 Date: Monday, March 25, 6-9pm Tiffany Bag Tiffany is a satchel bag, perfect for everyday style! This pattern has been cleverly designed to avoid using any bias binding. The finished size is 10 wide, 9 high, and 5 deep. This bag features an adjustable crossbody strap, handles, an exterior slip pocket, wide opening top with luggage style zipper closure, and is fully lined. 6 Page 6 Instructor: Nyssa Fee: $72 Sundays, March 3, 10, 17, 31 Nine Patch on Point A beginner class where we put together a quilt top from start to finish! The pattern is included free with this class! Refresh your cutting, piecing, and ironing skills or come and learn them for the first time. Homework will be required between classes so a machine at home is a must, but you may use one of our machines in class if you like. Makes a great bigger baby quilt or a lap quilt for an adult. This is a beginner class but sewing machine knowledge is required. Block Loc Tablerunner If paper piecing is not your favorite technique but intricate looking blocks are, Block Loc rulers may be your answer. Learn how to use triangle in a square and kite in a square rulers. The blocks, techniques and table runner has been designed to teach you that you can make complicated-looking blocks easily. 7 Page 7 Beginning Machine Applique Tired of piecing blocks consisting of geometric shapes. Ready to try curves, flowers, leaves, circles, letters, swirls and more? Then it s time to learn machine appliqué. Applique is the process of seeing fabric shapes onto a background fabric and stitching them in place along the edges. In this class, you ll learn how to trace, fuse and cut out appliqué shapes. We ll go over how to machine-stitch the raw edges of your designs using 3 different stitches-the blanket stitch, the zigzag stitch and the straight stitch. You ll make samples in class and get lots of tips to take home with you. Instructor: Sue Hurley Fee: $40 Sunday, April 7, 12-4pm Leaf Applique Tablerunner Is it a towel or tablerunner? This is a perfect runner for your kitchen, with leaves and dots appliquéd on tea toweling. In class, you ll cut, fuse, and machine appliqué the designs onto the toweling using a blanket-stitch. This is a good project for those wanting to work on their machine appliqué skills. Instructor: Sue Fee: $30 Friday, April 26, 1-4pm

8 Page 8 Collage Class Using Laura Heine Patterns If you would like to make one of Laura Heine s collage quilts or if you have started one and would like some direction, this class is for you. Choose any of her designs to work on in class. We will focus on fabrics, placement, paper backed fusible and finishing. Expect lots of individual attention! Instructor: Eve Fee: $27 Thursday, April 4, 4-7pm Binding Workshop Finish that quilt the way it deserves! A well done binding can make or break the finished project. In this technique class, you ll learn to trim your quilt, cut the binding on the bias, piece the strips together and sew the binding to your quilt. You will work with a practice piece that you can keep for future reference. Great for first-time binders and those who want to perfect their skills. 9 Page 9 Beginner Machine Quilting Your quilt top is finally pieced and your pattern ends with those three scary words quilt as desired. Now what? Take a deep breath, drop those feed dogs and start machine quilting! In this class, you ll learn to free-motion quilt some basic designs including curved lines, meandering, echoing and loops. 10 Page 10 Quilts for Kids On the first Tuesday of each month, a group of experienced, charity-minded quilters meet at PQW to sew for the organization, Quilts for Kids. Quilts are donated to care facilities to be given to children who are ill, abused, or in difficult situations who could use the comfort of a handmade quilt. Although all the spots for sewing participants are filled, we can certainly use more volunteers to sew quilts at home. Kits will be provided. Meets: 10:15 am 3 pm April 2, May 7, June 4 Class registration policy Full payment is due upon signing up for a class. You can make payment in the store, online, or by phone. A supply list will be given or sent to you at that time. 100% of class fees are refundable or transferable to another class if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before class. No credit, refund or transfer to another class will be given if 72-hour notice is not given. Our teachers prepare for each student in each class in advance of the class. No-shows forfeit any refund or exchange. Private Class For times when a regularly scheduled class just won t do, we offer private classes to fill the void. Let s say that a class you're interested in requires rotary skills, and you re still snipping along with scissors. Well a 1-hour private class will bring you up to speed. Or say that you really want to get the hang of paper-piecing or some other skill. Or maybe our classes just don t fit in your schedule. Talk to any one of us and we ll find you the right person at the right time to teach you what you need to know. $25 per hour per person.

11 Page 11 English Paper Piecing Group 2019 Sew excited that you will be joining us for the 4th year of the Pennington Quilt Works English Paper Piecing Club. In this club you will receive EPP advice from the instructor, see what others are making, and sit and stitch for two uninterrupted hours. Along the way you will visit with friends old and new, learn the benefit of slow sewing and make a lovely project by hand. We will be focusing on the following EPP project: Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses. Required: **If you are new to English Paper Piecing, you must attend a how-to session for an additional fee. The mission of the QoVF is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts since The Peacemakers formed just over a year ago, have 27 members and have over 100 quilts either presented, in process or ready to be presented. We will be sewing at Pennington Quilt Works from 10:30 to 3:00 on the following Mondays: March 11, April 8, May 13, June 10, August 12, September 9, October 14, November 11, and December 9.
