1 Meet the Brimfield Block Designers Brimfield Block Presentation and Demo Join Brimfield Awakening Designers Kim Martucici and Nisha Bouri as they share their lovely quilt inspirations from The Brimfield Flea Market. Kim and Nisha will have vintage finds on display as well as finished Brimfield Block quilts. The class also includes instruction on how to stitch the Brimfield Block using the English Paper Piecing technique. The Cube tote is such a cute and versatile little purse! It s a smaller version of the popular Tool Tote, with pockets all the way around both the outside and the inside. A heavy-duty metal stay keeps the top of the bag open for easy access. Plus there s a zipper on top to keep the tote closed. The Cube measures 10 long x 7 wide and 5 tall. Learn to make this scooped neckline, relaxed fit sweatshirt. It s an update on the classic style. This sweatshirt can be made entirely on the serger but can also be made using a sewing machine. 2 Page 2 Bailey s Quilt This simple, yet striking quilt will look great in any combination of fabrics you choose. You ll start right at the beginning learning rotary cutting, accurate seaming, block construction, quilt assembly, and settings and borders. At the end of class, you ll have your quilt top done or almost done and ready for quilting. Instructor: Ro Fee: $99 Wednesday, January 10, 17; 6 9 pm Wednesday, January 31; 6 8 pm Wednesday, February 7; 6 9 pm Fishy Placemats If you have ever desired to make an art quilt but don't know where to start, why not begin with a smaller scale design like these fun, colorful fish placemats! They are designed by Laura Heine. We will make one of the fish placemats in class, you will learn about color placement and fused raw edged quilting so you will be able to finish the others at home. Required: Pattern, kit and some easy prep work (beginner) Instructor: Eve. Wednesday, January 10; 10:30 am 2:30 pm Friday, February 23; 10:30 am 2:30 pm Big Flower Pillow Class Do you have leftover fabric with fusible web on the back or smaller fabric scraps you refuse to throw out because you love them and want to include them in another Project? Bias Binding Workshop A well-done binding can make or break the finished product. In this technique class, you ll learn to trim your quilt, cut the binding on the bias, piece the strips together and sew the binding to your quilt. You will work with a practice piece that you can keep for future reference. Great for both first-time binders, and those who want to perfect their skills.. 3 Page 3 Free Motion Quilting Using Rulers Machine quilting using rulers on a domestic sewing machine has been getting a lot of attention in the quilting world recently. If you ve purchased the Bernina 72 foot and ruler kit and want to get started using them, this 2-session class is for you. In the first 3-hour class, you ll learn how to use the Bernina rulers and practice on muslin. You ll play with the 5 rulers that come in the Bernina starter set. In the second 3-hour class, you ll work with the rulers on a simple table runner you ve made prior to class. Working with rulers will open a whole new world of fee-motion quilting to you. It take a little practice, but once you get the hang of it, you ll be hooked. Required: ruler kit and Bernina 72 foot, and confidence in free motion quilting Instructor: Sue Fee: $54 Fridays, January 26 and February 2; 1 4 pm Tee Shirt Class Make your own tee shirt in this class using the Lark Tee Pattern. It s a modern, slim fit shirt ideal for layering. The pattern has four different neck styles and four sleeve lengths for many different looks. Required: pattern, The Lark Tee from Grainline Studio Instructor: Eve Thursday, January 25; 1 5 pm Beginner Machine Quilting I Your quilt top is finally pieced and your pattern ends with those three scary words quilt as desired. Now what? Take a deep breath, drop those feed dogs and start machine quilting! In this class, you ll learn to free-motion quilt some basic designs including curved lines, meandering, echoing, and loops. We ll also discuss needles, threads, batting and tension. Instructor: Sue Sunday, January 28; 12 4 pm Trapunto Trapunto is a quilting technique that adds depth and dimension to a quilt. Also know as the stuffed or stuffing technique, it gives motifs in your quilt a raised or puffy appearance. In this class, you ll learn to create this look by using an extra layer of batting and water-soluble thread. You ll be surprised how easy it is to get this stunning effect. Get ready to take your quilting to the next level. You must be a confident free-motion quilter Instructor: Sue Saturday, February 17, 12-4 pm Class registration policy Full payment is due upon signing up for a class. You can make payment in the store, online, or by phone. A supply list will be given or sent to you at that time. 100% of class fees are refundable or transferable to another class if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before class. No credit, refund or transfer to another class will be given if 72-hour notice is not given. Our teachers prepare for each student in each class in advance of the class. 4 Page 4 Quilts for Kids On the first Tuesday of each month a group of charity-minded quilters meets at PQW to sew together for the organization, Quilts for Kids. Quilts are given to children who are ill, abused, or in difficult situations who could use the comfort of a quilt made for them. Experienced quilters only, please. Please bring your lunch or snack, your machine and sewing supplies. Quilt kits will be provided. Please register ahead so we know how many to expect. Our monthly group is open to anyone who would like to join and learn English Paper Piecing (EPP). This quilt-along lasts 5 sessions. In this club you will receive EPP advice from the instructor, see what others are making, and sit and stitch for two uninterrupted hours. Along the way you will visit with friends old and new, learn the benefit of slow sewing and make a lovely project by hand. **If you are new to English Paper piecing, you must attend a how-to session for an additional fee. Our embroidery club is planned to help you make a new project each month, each designed by Kimberbell Designs, and each featuring a new technique to learn or practice.
