We had a very busy and productive fall at Country Treasures ending with a small but fun-filled fall retreat full of fellowship and, of course, plenty of quilting! We are now busy gearing up for the Holidays and Winter Classes. We are offering many new classes to help keep your machines warmed up while we wait for the first of many snowy days. Changing bobbins is a lot more fun than shoveling the walk! Sue has been sewing double time creating new samples to demonstrate new techniques. Carolyn is enthralled by Cotton + Steel, the new fabric line from RJR Fabrics. Carolyn will lead a 6-week Sunday afternoon class based on Tula Pink s book: 100 Modern Blocks. This will be a great winter class filled with 100 blocks of new ideas perfect for using your stash of modern or traditional fabrics. The staff at Country Treasures is joining in the fun to surprise Carolyn with their own interpretation of the Tula s blocks. Sarah, our Deb Tucker certified instructor, has been working very hard with some beautiful Studio 180 designs to develop more fun classes for us to enjoy this winter. Please note that we start our schedule early in January to allow for the occasional Snow Day. In the event of a weather cancellation, make up days may extend the schedule beyond that described in this newsletter. Our enthusiasm in the shop will be on display with our very own trunk show of the book Animal Parade. We will have a super display of each of the baby quilts in this delightful book, pieced by the staff at Country Treasures. We will be sure to post photos on our blog and on Facebook. Two sizes are available: tablerunner or large lap quilt. This class is perfect for beginning or more advanced quilters who would like to improve their accuracy! All quilters are welcome. The online version of Sue s Farmer s Wife class has been a big hit: twenty quilter s are piecing away. Sue always enjoys seeing the photos of a completed lesson arrive each in its own colorway. Check out our blog and Facebook for completed blocks and quilts. One big plus of the online class format is that you are not tied to our schedule but you can start and proceed through the lessons on your own schedule. Both Dear Jane and Farmer s Wife are available as on-line classes for $ Here is how it works: after you have paid for the class, we will the first lesson. Once you have completed the homework, you send us a picture of the completed block(s) and we send you the next lesson!
