Welcome to the Term 4 class listing for Quintessential Quilts. Sorry we are a bit late this term, but the year has just run away from me. As well as this terms classes, we have a list of our January Workshops that will be run in the New Year. The class samples for these workshops will be up for display from December as some are still being put together and some are still ideas (mine). I hope everyone is enjoying the lovely mild weather we are experiencing at the moment. Not too hot & not too cold, just right for quilting. Requirements for class will only be given out on payment of registration. Class fees are non-refundable. You may transfer to another class up until 7 days prior to scheduled class. After that we are committed to run the class so there are no transfers or credits. A credit will be give for classes cancelled due to lack of numbers. Have your sewing machine in good working order. Your own Rotary cutter, Board and Rulers are required for classes. Please purchase all class requirements prior to day of class. Please do not bring children or guests to a class. Use either a beautiful Feature fabric or that stunning piece you bought but just can t seem to cut up. Add some co-ordinating prints and this little wall hanging will brighten up any wall in your home. Quilters rulers required for class 2. Beginners Machine Sampler (Beg) $ x 2 ½ hrs, with Gayle Jones, 9:30-12:00 Wednesday October 26 th November 2 nd, 9 th, 16 th, 23 rd & 30 th A Sampler quilt is made up of a variety of blocks so you can learn many different quilting techniques. Join Gayle for some fun and learning and end up with a beautiful new quilt with either 6 or 9 blocks. Quilters rulers required for class 3. Christmas Stars Table-Runner (Beg-Int) $ x 5 hrs, with Sue Drill, 9:30-3:00 Saturday October 29 th Make it in your favourite colours for year round use. Or in the more Traditional Red, Green & Gold for Christmas. The stars in this table-runner will sparkle and brighten up any table. Quilters rulers required for class

5 4. Beautiful Baskets (Beg-Int) $ x 2 ½ hrs, with Robyn Macdonald, 9:30-12:00 Monday October 31 st November 7 th & 14 th PAGE 5 Make either 9 or 12 Beautiful basket blocks. This is a bright and cheerful appliqué quilt suitable for beginners onwards. The quilt also requires a small amount of hand embroidery. 5. Two Colour Baltimore (Int) $ x 2 ½ hrs, with Robyn Macdonald, 12:30-3:00 Monday October 31 st November 14 th & 28 th Another masterpiece from Robyn. A very soft and pretty quilt incorporating all the pink & blue fabrics from the Aviary range by Moda the finished Quilt is just lovely. 6. Block Book or Thread Keeper (Beg) $ x 5 hrs, with Kim Pascoe, 9:30-3:00 Tuesday November 1 st This beautiful block book is an ideal way to keep your stichery and appliqué blocks neat and clean and in perfect order. Pick your favourite fabric to make Kim s lovely threadkeeper roll. With a delicate stichery on the front, the roll will protect your precious threads and keep them neat and tidy. Please note Blocks for block book cover and stitchery for the thread keeper need to be made or stitched prior to class. Poinsettia: Foundation Pieced Table-Runner (Int) $ x 2 ½ hrs, with Sue Drill, 9:30-12:00 Friday November 4 th & 11 th Beautiful foundation pieced flowers run down the centre of this lovely Christmas table-runner. Not a beginner s project, but not too hard if you have a little experience. Quilters rulers required for class. PAGE 6 8. Beginners Patchwork (Beg) $ x 5 hrs, with Sue Drill, 9:30-3:00 Saturday November 5 th A great starting point. Learn how to use your tools correctly and to stitch an accurate ¼ seam. This class covers the basics of cutting, stitching and re-squaring your blocks and will set you on the path to making many beautiful quilts in the future. Sewing machine with ¼ foot, Rotary cutter, Board and Quilters rulers required for class 9. Fun with Stripes (Beg) $ x 2 ½ hrs, with Judith Lubieniecki, 9:30-12:00 Tuesday November 8 th & 15 th Pick a striped fabric, take out your mirror and look at your finished blocks before you even start cutting. The finished blocks are framed and then set on point with sashing and corner posts before the borders are added to the quilt top. 7 PAGE Beginners Appliqué (Beg) $ x 2 ½ hrs, with Robyn Macdonald, 12:30-3:00 Wednesday November 9 th, 16 th, 23 rd, 30 th December 7 th & 14 th Join Robyn for six lessons covering all the basics of needle turn appliqué. At the end of the six weeks you will have a beautiful appliquéd quilt top ready to be quilted. Robyn can also show you the basics of how to hand quilt your masterpiece. 11. Interlocked Squares (Beg) $ x 5 hrs, with Davena Watts, 9:30-3:00 Saturday November 12 th Blue and White quilts always appeal to quilters. This lovely quilt is made up of three different pieced blocks and background squares. Make sure when choosing your fabrics for this project that you have good contrast. Can be made in all sizes single to king. * Pre-cutting required prior to class 12. Angel or Ho,Ho,Ho Oh No, Advent Calendars (Beg) $ x 2 ½ hrs, with Sue Drill, 9:30-12:00 Friday November 18 th & 25 th Make an Advent calendar for the little people in your life. Pick from either (non traditional) Santa stuck in a chimney, or a (traditional) manger with sheep and angels. Tuck a chocolate coin or little gift in the pockets for the count down till Santa visits.

8 PAGE Appliqué Workshop (Beg) $ x 5 hrs, with Robyn Macdonald, 9:30-3:00 Saturday November 19 th If you have always wanted to try the beautiful art of applique this is the class for you. Robyn will teach you the basics of needle turn appliqué including bias stems, leaves and flowers. 14. Finish your Beginners Patchwork (Beg) $ x 5 hrs, with Sue Drill, 9:30-3:00 Saturday November 19 th A class that covers set-in triangles, corner triangles and borders.bring along your Beginners Patchwork blocks and I will show you how to put them together into a quilt. Christmas Gingerbread Men (Beg) $ x 2 ½ hrs, with Gayle Jones, 9:30-12:00 Tuesday November 22 nd & 29 th Machine appliqué these cute gingerbread men, onto a variety of Christmas prints. Then join them together with the great zig-zag pieced border. Makes a great wall hanging or table-topper for the festive season.. Zig Zag (Beg) $ x 5 hrs, with Gayle Jones, 9:30-3:00 Saturday November 26 th Using a Layer Cake (40 x 10 squares) or your own fabrics, plus a neutral background fabric make up this fast, fun and so very effective quilt Sewing machine with ¼ foot, Rotary Cutter, Board & Quilters Rulers required for class.

9 PAGE Santa Sacks or Santa Sox (Beg-Int) $ x 2 ½ hrs, with Sue Drill, 9:30-12:00 Friday December 2 nd & 9 th The choice is either a Santa Sack (bag) with machine (or hand) appliqué on the front with pieced stars and a scrappy border, Or a Santa Sox (stocking) with bells or beads stitched to inset folded triangle points and Christmas print strips across the front. Making a Point Bag (Beg) $ x 5 hrs, with Judith Lubieniecki, 9:30-3:00 Saturday December 3 rd Make a nifty bag to throw all your overnight essentials into for a night away, or just use as your new day handbag. A great looking oblong bag. Quilters Rulers required for class. 19. Stars & Stripes (Beg) $ x 5 hrs, with Elinor Milewski, 9:30-3:00 Monday December 5 th In these masculine colours this quilt is great for any of your boys, Do the pattern in soft pretty florals and it would make a lovely quilt for any young lady. Four & One (Beg) $ x 2 ½ hrs, with Judith Lubieniecki, 9:30-12:00 Tuesday December 6 th & 13 th Take four 1 meter cuts of fabric graded light to dark, and join Judith for this easy, fast and fun quilt. The finished quilt is so effective and with pre-cutting you will be amazed how quickly it comes together * Pre-cutting required prior to class Sewing machine with ¼ foot, Rotary cutter, Board and quilters rulers required for class 21. Machine Quilting Workshop (Beg) $ x 5 hrs, with Davena Watts, 9:30-3:00 Saturday December 10 th Does the thought of machine quilting your beautiful quilt top worry you? If so then come and have a fun day learning lots of different techniques for machine quilting. In the workshop you will cover all the basics, using your foot and various threads. You will be able to use various stencils to learn how to make them fit any quilt. A darning foot is a must as we will then go into the world of freehand machine quilting. Techniques covered include stippling, curved stencils and freehand flowers. Sewing machine able to drop the feed dogs, Walking foot and Darning foot (a must). PAGE Lovely, Lovely Layer Cake (Beg) $ x 5 hrs, with Sue Drill, 9:30-3:00 Friday December 16 th A great fast project, made using pre-cut 10 fabric squares, or a Layer Cakes as they are called. With a contrast fabric and a border print you will have this fast quilt finished in no time at all. Sewing machine able to drop the feed dogs, Walking foot and Darning foot (a must).

The button hole and the slanted zig zag stitch. The flowers and leaves can be any shape or design you desire or you can use Elinor s pattern Sewing machine with ¼ foot, Rotary cutter, Board and quilters rulers required for class Bespangled Balis (Beg) $50.00 Tuesday January 17 th with Gayle Jones, 9:30-3:00 Bali fabrics are beautiful to look at and to sew with. Try this spin on an old favourite pattern with some beautiful new fabrics, another fast and fun quilt from Gayle

12 Celtic Dreaming (Beg-Int) $50.00 Wednesday January 18 th with Robyn Macdonald, 9:30-3:00 PAGE 12 A lovely little hand appliquéd little wall hanging. Combining Celtic knots and mythical birds. Cathedral in a Day (Beg) $50.00 Thursday January 19 th with Judith Lubieniecki, 9:30-3:00 A Layer cake (40 x 10 squares) will make you this 8 block lap quilt in (almost) a day. Join Judith to learn the secret of her Cathedral window like squares, done the easy way. Sewing machine with ¼ foot, Rotary cutter, Board and Quilters rulers required for class Jelly Roll Floral (Beg) $50.00 Friday January 20 th with Sue Drill, 9:30-3:00 Red & White & Black All Over (Beg) $50.00 Saturday January 21 st with Davena Watts, 9:30-3:00 Choose a fabric you love, and don t want to cut up into small pieces (print). Add a strong contrast fabric (black, and another complimentary fabric (red) and this stunning quilt is the result of this mixture with Davena. Pre- cutting required prior to class A lovely single bed quilt made from a Jelly Roll. And add a few co-ordinating fabrics for the machine appliquéd vine and flowers and you have this great girls quilt.
