2 AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS Does your child have a creative side? Does it seem like you are always buying arts and craft supplies? Why not register your child for an art class! We have been offering an interdisciplinary visual arts program for students in Kindergarten-12th grade at the Community Center since The Art Center encourages students to explore their individual creative needs by defining their own projects. Mediums include sewing, collaging, weaving, sculpting, print making, paper making, painting, puppet making and anything else your child can dream up! At the Art Center we help our students develop an appreciation for the value of learning. The choices at the Art Center are extensive and our creative instructors are able to provide the inspiration and education necessary for students to reach their individual goals. Register early to get your desired class. Please contact the Community Center Offices at with any questions. 2 nd Semester January 21 through May 8, 2019 (15 weeks) Class times to choose from: Wednesday Art with Me (3 yrs. old with adult & 4 yrs. old) 9:30 10:30 am Fee: $37/resident $43/nonresident per semester. Monday After School 3:30-5:00 pm (K-12) Tuesday After School 3:30-5:00 pm (K-12) Wednesday Home School Classes 11:00am-12:30pm (Must be 5 years old and in Kindergarten) Fee: $42/resident $50/nonresident per semester. Wednesday After School When school is dismissed 90 minutes early, the class will be held from 2:00-5:00 pm; otherwise class will be held from 3:30-5:00 pm. (K-12) Fee: $70/resident $84/non-resident per semester. No refunds will be issued once the semester has started. If there is a medical reason an in-house credit may be given if the Community Services Manager is notified prior to the start of the third class. No credits will be issued after the start of the third class.

3 KIDS ART CLASSES The Pella Community Art Center is offering art classes with all materials being provided. An instructor will lead project. Pre-registration is required, please call or stop by to register and pay. Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice will not receive a refund. Giant Painted Wooden Tulip: Having a 3 tall Giant Tulip of your own design would be wonderful wouldn t it? Good thing we have this class! You will be able to design and take home your own Giant Wooden Tulip!! Instructor: Mary Robertson Location: Painting Studio Date: Friday, February 15 Ages: 8 yrs and up Time: 1:00-3:00 pm Class limit: 15 Fee: $10 resident, $12 non-resident Spring Break Art Camp: (7yrs & up) Spring Break Art Camp is a minicamp where we will work on several different projects over the four camp days. Participants need to bring their own lunch for a 30 minute lunch break in the middle of our art day. Each day we will work on different parts of each project so that on the last day each participant will take home completed works of art. Medias we will be exploring are Paper-Mache, clay, papermaking, mixed media painting and art journals. 4 ADULT ART CLASSES The Pella Community Art Center is offering adult (16 & up) classes with all materials being provided. An instructor will lead each project. Pre-registration is required! Water Color Pine Trees: Give watercolor painting a try with this winter pine tree scene. Learn some simple techniques to create a frame worthy picture. Location: Painting Studio Date: Thursday, January 10 Time: 6:30-8:00pm Fee: $15 resident, Printing without a Press: Explore many ways to make mono prints using different, simple items that don t require a printing press. We will make our own mark making tools and create many colorful papers. What do you do with theses papers? We will turn them into a few fun projects during the second class. Location: Painting Studio Date: Thursday, January 24 & 31 Time: 6:30-8:00pm Fee: $30 resident, $36 non-resident Maximum: 12 Valentine Sign: Get ready for Valentine s Day! Create this unique 15 inch square wood sign for your home or Favorite Valentine. Couples Multi Media Painting: Start your date night with a couple s art class! We will walk you through the whole process of this Multi Media painting class. All art supplies are provided and each of you will leave with a wonderful new piece of art. 5 ADULT ART CLASSES continued Slice of Life Watercolor: Record milestones, achievements and memories for yourself or loved one with this keepsake Slice of Life painting. Spring Hoop Wreath: Get in the mood for some Spring decorating with this hoop wreath made with twigs, burlap and muslin flowers that you will create. Location: Painting Studio Date: Thursday, February 21 Time: 6:30-8:00 pm Fee: $15 resident Location: Art Center Date: Thursday, March 7 Time: 6:30-8:00 pm Fee: $15 resident Maximum: 12 Mixed Media Necklace Building: Don t you just love those chunky BoHo glam necklaces? We have all the beads, bling, chunky, BoHo, glam parts and pieces for you to make your very own. Customizing your necklaces makes it even better. Each participant will be able make & take 2 necklaces. Instructor: Mary Robertson Location: Art Center Date: Wednesday, March 13 Time: 5:30-7:00 pm Fee: $15 resident Cinder Block: Update your front porch with an Initial Block that you will decorate start to finish in one class. We will provide everything you need to make a personalized block! Instructor: Mary Robertson Location: Painting Studio Date: Friday, March 22 Time: 6:00-7:30 pm Fee: $15 resident, Maximum: 12 Journals: Bookbinding is a lost art BUT we have found it again! Our creative Instructor will demonstrate several different sewing techniques. Time should allow for each participant to make a few of these cute little journals. These fun little journals are perfect for keeping notes, used as drawing journals or even as given as gifts. 6 ART CENTER PARTIES Are you Ready for an Art Party? Are you looking for a fun and creative birthday party for your child? Are you entertaining a church group, bridal shower, baby shower, scouting group, or art night with friends? Look no farther then the Pella Community Art Center as an entertaining, easy, and cost effective place for a party that everyone can enjoy. Our art instructors take you step by step through your chosen project. Each participant leaves with a completed piece of art. We have the space and supplies to make these events even more memorable for everyone. Allow us to organize a private party for you today! Craft Project: $60 for 10 people plus 1 supervising adult (kids classes), you will receive 2 hours of instructor led time for your project. $2 for each additional person. You are welcome to bring cake and presents. We will be happy to work a break time into the activity. Ceramic, Tie Dye or Painting Party: $80 for 10 people plus 1 supervising adult (kids classes), you will receive 2 hours of instructor led time. $5 for each additional person. If you would like a special project or unique painting, you will be charged an additional $25 for development time. Any group with over 15 individuals, will be charged an additional $25 for an additional instructor. Call for class maximums. Must make reservation with a 30% non-refundable deposit 10 days in advance. Full payment is due 3 days before the party. Total number of participants must be reported 10 days in advance. Must cancel 3 days prior to receive a refund, less the 30% non-refundable deposit. Winter weather cancellation policy applies.
