1 Around the Village from The Village Quilter The Village Quilter Charles Street, Historic Mt. Holly, NJ Fall 2017 Hello Villagers! Can you believe how quickly our summer went? I think time flies quicker as I get older. Today I am sitting in my classroom trying to pull it all together before the students arrive. As we prepare for our fall classes I am reminded of the talent of the wonderful women that teach and work in the shop. Class samples are being hung, supply lists are being copied and the shop s calendar online is being updated. We are just about ready. Beginning in September, Let s Get Organized, by Annie. We will begin with the Stash and Dash in September followed by the Nesting Baskets in October and the Ditty Bags in November. I know you will fall in love with the practical designs as well as the opportunity to create stylish organizers while learning new skills and techniques. I hope you will join me on this organizing journey! Details are available at the shop! All of our holiday fabrics are now in the shop. We are expecting a few more flannels, including wide backs for those toasty warm quilts you will be creating. I will begin sharing class descriptions online and if you have any questions about the upcoming schedule, please don t hesitate to give the shop a call. 2 SMR= Sewing Machine Machine Quilting With Style Sue Morrison 1 Session SMR Skill Level: Beginners Mon. 9/ pm $35 + book + fabric + supplies Beginners Learn to Quilt If you re interested in quilting with your home sewing machine, this class is for you! You ll learn some basic walking-foot and free-motion techniques from Christa Watson s book, Machine Quilting with Style. We ll work on small samples, and then you can use the techniques on your own quilts or try some of the 12 projects included in Christa s book! No experience required we ll cover the basics. Over eight classes you will learn how to rotary cut, do basic piecing, assemble, quilt and bind your project, using Alex s block design and your choice of fabrics. A Taste of Quilting Sue 3 session SMR Skill Level: Beginner Mon. 11/6, 11/13, 11/20 & 11/27 2-4pm $ fabrics + supplies Are you interested in learning to quilt? Get a taste of quilting with this 3-week beginner course! You ll learn how to do rotary cutting, piecing, simple quilting and binding as you make an easy block-design placemat (you may even want to make a set of four!) Chatterbox Apron Betsy 1 session SMR Skill Level: Advanced Beginner Sun. 11/5 12:30-3:30 pm The Chatterbox Apron is an asymmetric Granny type vintage apron that is redesigned with modern style and details. And it s reversible, which allows for many design possibilities. One size fits most and is fairly quick and easy to sew.

Can be made with canvas, cotton or quilted fabrics. Sassafras Lane Designs has made it even easier by compiling an inexpensive hardware pack! Pumpkin Apron Betsy 1 session SMR Sun. 10/8 12:30-3:30pm This adorable child s apron sizes 3-8 with Jack-o-lantern and black-cat appliques is sure to make the little ones in your life very happy this Halloween. This pattern also includes a snowman and Santa s helper apron.

6 Essential Tote Sue 1 session SMR Sun. 9/17 1-4pm or Mon. 10/23 1-4pm Fall Memories Kim 1 session SMR The Essential Tote is a large lined tote with plenty of interior pockets, and it is a great beginner bag. If you are new to making totes and purses this is a good project to start with. It is approximately 12 3/4 H x 19 1/4 W x 4 D, with lots of room to carry your quilting supplies or other gear! Happy Village Sue 1 session SMR Mon. 10/2 12-4pm Treat Basket Sat. 12/9 10am-1:30pm This fabric collage technique is pure fun no piecing or hand applique required! Simple fabric shapes are used to make your village, and free motion stitching holds it all together. Be as creative as you like each village is unique! Learn how to make beautiful fabric Bowls/Baskets by wrapping Strips of fabric around clothesline and then sewing them together. You won t be able to stop at just One. Composition Cover Sat. 11/11 10am-1pm Make your journal or notebook a stylish and practical notebook cover. Create using coordinating fat quarters. Use up that stash with a sampler design by Jen Kingwell. Art Quilt Club All Levels The Art Quilt Club is a monthly club for quilters/sewers/artists interested in exploring a new style. Club meets the first Thursday of each month from 2-4 pm or 6:30-8:30 pm. Members will sign up for a 6-month membership for $30.00 and work on projects based on the group s interests. No experience required - new members welcome!! 1st Thursday of each month 2-4 pm or 6:30-8:30 pm $ for 6 months membership!! Contact the shop for to see what sessions have space. Tea & Applique Club Jo s Little Women Club There are currently 3 different sessions for this club 2nd Tuesdays 11-1pm, 2nd Thursdays 11-1pm or 4 th Tuesday 6-8pm Class Fee: $30 for 6 month pass + pattern packet& fabric For the lovers of reproduction fabrics we are delighted to offer you Jo s Little Women Club by Jo Morton. Jo is a maker of small reproduction quilts and has numerous fabric lines. She has developed a club with club member exclusive patterns. Each meeting begins with a short program by Karen featuring some interesting history of the quilts of this time period. Contact shop to see what sessions have room. Tuesday 9/5, 10/3, 11/7, & 12/5. Class 10:30am-12:30pm Fee $5 each class This club meets the first Tuesday of each month from 10:30-12:30 to work on appliqué techniques & projects. Appliqué club open to anyone interested in sharing ideas and refining appliqué skills. We love to share with beginners. Join the fun and the fellowship & Tea!!!
