Nancy will share her techniques for ruler-free foundation piecing and you ll make the first of your set of cactus coasters. Fee: $25 for one 2-hour session. Sat. Oct. 26,, or Wed. Dec. 4, 1:30-3:30 Finishing School- You ve successfully completed that beautiful quilt top, sandwiched and quilted it. Now for the final step. Master double fold binding and mitered corners. 4 Fun Classes from Disappearing 9-Patch, or What Paddy Shot At - David Landon Start with 5-inch squares, a few cuts with a rotary cutter, and let the fun begin. This quilt is a great way to use scraps from your stash. The sample quilt uses everything from Southwest, to florals, to Cats! A fun collection of theme fabrics. $25 covers one 4- hour session. Friday, Nov. 15, 1:30-4:30, or Friday, Jan. 17, 1:30-4:30 Fun Feathers! Kathy Harris Have you wanted to learn how to do those fun, whimsical feathers on a quilt top? Now s your chance! Kathy will teach you how to stitch out some free motion feather shapes, without marking! You will practice several shapes then put them into a piece you can make into a pillow or small wall hanging. Jan. 6, 13, Southwest Welcome Sampler- This small wall hanging was inspired by all those wonderful needlework samplers made by young girls in the 1700s & 1800s. I decided to combine embroidery with appliqué for a delightful memory of our beautiful desert. Double Irish Chain Susan Standley This is a wonderful back-to-basics quilt. It s strip pieced, quick and classic. Susan s beautiful blue and white sample reminds her of the beach, but any color combo works. Several size options will be available. $25 for two 2-hour sessions. Mon. Oct 14, 21, or Thurs. Dec. 5, 12,. Basic Machine Quilting #1 & #2- Penny Allen Learn to machine quilt like a pro! Penny will take you through all the basics from straight line stitching to free motion quilting. 5 more Fun Classes & Block of the Month Clubs Oldies but Goodies BOM- The Rebecca Hendrix Quilt The Rebecca Hendrix quilt was originally made in We don t know if she made the quilt, but she was the 1st owner. The quilt is a beautiful example of a folk art style Baltimore appliqué. The colors in the original were red, green, and yellow. Nancy added touches of blue and cheddar to her reproduction. We will begin the project in October. The original quilt had plain borders. Nancy has created appliqué borders based on designs in the quilt. Cost is $50/year and this is a two-year project. Meets the first Saturday of each month, 10:00am, beginning in October, on Saturday, Oct. 5. Oldies Reunion!- Please bring your past oldies projects for a reunion Show-and-Tell in December. We d love to see any and all completed, (maybe not quite completed!? Especially Goldie or Baskets ) quilts and quilt tops. We ll meet at 11:00 on the 1st Saturday in December, that s the 7th. Treats and Door Prizes are planned. Please call to let us know you are coming. Baltimore Ladies of Tucson- The Baltimore ladies of Tucson, continue to meet and explore the art of Baltimore style appliqué. Join us the 2nd Friday of each month at 10:00. There is no fee for this group. Almost Always Appliquéing (AAA), Sit & Sew- (Like Nancy) If you can t get enough time with your needle, whether it s hand work or machine, join us at for a morning stitch along!! We will have an open class room every 4th Friday from 10-noon. No fee, but perhaps new ideas or techniques, and new friends! Twilling- Definition: A super easy dimensional embroidery stitch. All the rage back East, and originating in Europe. Sew,..Nancy thought why not Southwest twilling? Nancy has designed South West images perfect to do in this stitch and will have several quilt layouts for your finished blocks.
