We will cover all aspects of a quilt; cutting, piecing, block sizing, borders, basting, quilting and binding. You will have a completed quilt when you graduate from this class. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND ALL 5 CLASSES. Each class feeds on the previous class. We will have another quilt class starting in September if you cannot make this session. 2 Page 2 THE ING SQUARES SHOP CALL FOR CLASSES ******REMEMBER: 10% OFF ALL CLASS SUPPLIES****** * S* S*S*S*S* Pineapple Quilt by Foundation This is a great class for scraps or organized scraps or colors you just love! It s not paper piecing and it doesn t take a ruler. This class uses a muslin foundation to make the 10 pineapples. Joan Skalski will guide you through the process. Thurs April pm Cost: $25. Need to purchase foundation for class. Trees for sale This quilt is very easy and involves slicing and slashing Gail Lewis, your instructor, has made the quilt using fabric from Moda s Simple Marks Collections. It s not even Christmas fabrics, but it is so cute! Stop by the shop to see it. Tues June p or 6-9pm Cost: $20/ pattern required. LABELS We have been told that we should always label our quilts but it seems after the binding is on, we just want to be done with it. Kathy will teach you how to make labels that are easy to get done. Mon May p or 6-9p Cost: $20 SQUARE IN A SQUARE REVISITED Need a brush up on the technique? Having problems with any of the quilts you are working on? Have a kit you haven t started on? This is your opportunity to get some help. Fri May pm or 6-9pm Cost: $20 MACHINE ING PRIMER The first in a series of technique classes to teach you how to free motion quilt on your home machine. We will talk about setting up your workspace, basting, & preparation, plus hands on work. This class helps you to feel at ease with machine quilting. Cost: $20/book required Mon April 15 or Thur June p or 6-9 Disappearing 9 Patch quilt Use up those scraps! A fun, fast, and easy quilt to make. Kay has shown this method in her Scrapology classes, now make the quilt! No excuses! Get it done and lose the scrap stash. Mon June p or 6-9p Cost: $25/ pattern provided SASSY SQUARES This is a new pattern that we are designing. Help us work out the kinks. We like to have students work with the pattern so we can make any changes that we feel necessary. Be a part of a design team!! Mon May p or 6-9p Cost: $25/ pattern included BINDINGS GALORE We are so excited about a new technique that we have been working on! It combines a flat piping and binding together. Not only that, but it is done at the same time and it is a machine binding technique. NO HAND WORK INVOLVED! If you hate binding, you are going to be so excited about this class!! Cost: $15 Thurs May noon or 6-8pm LET S DOODLE The second in a series of technique classes teaches how to draw leaves, flowers and other designs using your home sewing machine. The class will give you ideas for blocks & borders as well as gaining experience in free motion quilting. Quilting Primer Cost:$20 Thur May p Prerequisite: Machine Kit N Caboodle Bag Makes a great overnight bag or with its size can hold a quilt. It has a secure top zipper enclosure and double handles. Size: 23 W x 19 H x 8 D Thurs May pm Cost: $25 Must purchase pattern. STENCILS & SUCH Learn how to use stencils, enlarge or reduce them & how to fit them into borders & blocks. We will experiment with different marking systems to help get that quilt done. Can bring a quilt to discuss options, but will not be working on it. Cost:$20 Wed May p or 6-9p

3 Fun Things we do at The Quilting Squares There is a $10 FEE for PMS night, Poker Night, & Soup s On. This reserves your spot,the use of the room and a light lunch or dinner Pizza, Munchies, & Sewing 1st Fridays of the month April 5, May 3 & June 7 Starts at 5pm. Cost: $10 This is a night to kick back & enjoy some quality tine with fellow quilters and your unfinished projects. Poker Night 3rd Fridays of the month April 19, May 17 & June 21 Starts at 5pm Cost: $10 Bring your unfinished projects and join the fun. We don t really play poker but we do give out a card every time you come to PMS or Poker. At the end of the year, the best hand wins a $50 gift certificate from the store Soup s On 3rd Wed of the month April 17, May 15 & June 19 Starts at 10am We offer several opportunities throughout the calendar year for our customers to come in to sit and sew. This is a good time for fun, food and fellowship.
