1 Class Schedule for Quilters Crossing 2013 Quilts: Bargello Quilt Teacher: Kathy Ryan Stunning! For the confident beginner--learn to make this bargello quilt. 2 Honeycomb Waffle Teacher: Diana Gilbreath You can make this impressive 3-dimensional optical illusion with simple value selections, once you know the trick. Build the blocks using the strip-piecing method-so it s fast, too! In fact, it is easy enough for the confident beginner to do. Join our class and see how your blocks stack up! Oh yes, and there are NO y-seams! Come join the fun! Class meets: Saturday, June 8 th, OR Wednesday, Sept 18, 9:30 4pm Class fee: $40. Friendship Star Quilt Teacher: Patsy Mosby Skill level: Confident Beginner Using Alex Anderson s quilt as inspiration, Patsy has adapted the pattern for you to learn even more. This class takes the new quilter beyond the basics to include bias seams, triangles, and mitered borders. Quilt on your machine with straight lines, as well as a little free motion on the border. The 42 X54 quilt is completed with a hand finished, mitered corner binding. Imagine a crib quilt in kids fabric or patriotic throw in red, white and blue! Prerequisite: Beginners Nine Patch class, Cut, Pin, Stitch class OR have knowledge of rotary cutting and machine piecing ¼ inch seams. 3 Beginner s 9 patch Teacher: Patsy Mosby Confidence builder! Make your very first quilt from start to finish! Learn to select fabrics, rotary cut accurately, and sew a quilter s ¼ seam. Make the quilt top with borders, and quilt it on your sewing machine. French fold binding completes this 41 X41 quilt, great for wall hanging, table topper, or baby. A sewing machine is required for this class. Class meets for 4 sessions: Tuesday, July 30 th 1pm 4pm, and Aug 6 th, 13 th & Sept 10 th, 2pm 4pm. Jellyroll Star Sampler Quilt Teacher: Margaret Persinger (picture coming soon!) Great for you beginning quilters! Use jellyrolls (2 ½ precut fabric pack) to make a pretty star sampler quilt. Fast and fun! Class will teach you to complete entire quilt, including quilting/binding! Book required and available at the shop. Class meets for 8 sessions on Wednesdays beginning August 14 th, 2013 from 9:30 12:30(other dates: 8/28, 9/11, 9/25, 10/9, 10/23, 11/13, 12/4). Class fee: $75 for all sessions.

Ivy Twist Teacher: Kathy Ryan Create this easy to make, but looks complex Southwind Designs quilt. Don t be fooled by the curves! This is straight piecing. Class meets: Saturday, September 14 th, 9:30 4. Class Fee: $45. Rail Fence Teacher: Margaret Persinger Perfect class for the beginning quilter: This class shows you how to begin and completely finish your throw-sized quilt. Class meets for 5 sessions on Wednesday, Sept 4 th, 18 th, October 2, 10 & 16th 5pm 8 pm. Class fee:$50 for all sessions.

6 French Braid Teacher: Dolores Wood Learn this technique and make either a table runner or an entire quilt. These quilts are always great eye-catchers. Class meets: Wednesday, July 31th & August 7 th 5 8pm. Class fee: $45 Skillbuilder Sampler Teacher: Margaret Persinger A variety of techniques will be learned in making this pretty sampler quilt. Class meets for 8 Tuesday evening sessions: 9/17, 9/24, 10/15, 10/22, 11/19, 11/26, 12/17 & 1/21. Class fee: $75 for all sessions.

7 Bali Bedrunner/quilt Teacher: Carolyn Bisbee Level: intermediate paper piecing. You choose to complete either Judy Niemeyer s Bali Wedding Star bed runner or quilt. Book required and available at shop. Class fee: $35. Wall Hangings: Cut Your Own Design Teacher: Susi Looney Learn how to cut your own unique appliqué designs and create a one-of-a-kind custom quilt. Applique method of your choice, although this best lends itself to fusible appliqué. Choice of two sessions: Class fee: $45.

9 Landscape Fabric Picture or Wall hanging Teacher: Dolores Wood Convert a favorite picture to a fabric picture or wallhanging. Class meets: Monday, September 9 th & 30 th, 2 5pm. Class fee: $45 Machine Applique Teacher: Dolores Wood Back by popular demand! Choose one of the many BJ Design patterns (available at the shop) and create a beautiful wall hanging. This is a perfect project to use those fabrics you purchased and have never found a use for! Dolores will help you with color to enhance your wall hanging. Class fee: $45. 13 Handwork: Hand Quilting Teacher: Patsy Mosby Using the Queen s Crown pre-printed quilt top, make this 16 x16 whole cloth wall hanging, using the rocking method of hand quilting. Learn the basics: types of batting, thread, needles, basting layers, quilter s knot and quilting straight and curved lines. Class meets on Saturday, August 10 th, 10am 2pm. Class fee: $30. Beginners Hand Piecing Teacher: Patsy Mosby Learn to make a quilt top like your great grandmother did---before she had a sewing machine! Peaceful piecing is very relaxing and a great TV or takealong project. Four authentic patterns (in two sizes) from 1926 are included: Shoo Fly, Churn Dash, Ohio Star and Jacob s Ladder. One 5 hr. class: Tuesday, January 28 th 9:30 2:30pm Class fee: $35.00

14 Do You need therapy? Scrap Therapy sessions: Facilitator: Dolores Wood Scrap therapy, that is! Do you have bags/bins/boxes of fabric left over from all your projects, but you can t seem to throw them away because you know you will use them? Then this is the group for you! Come to our Cut-It-up session where you will cut your scraps up into usable sizes. Then in subsequent months, we will offer different projects where you will use the scraps to create beautiful items! Cut it up session is required for all new participants. Fee for this is and the first month of any new project is $15 and you can decide which projects you would like to attend, after your Cut it up session.. There are two scrap therapy sessions currently in progress that meet the 3 rd Monday afternoon of each month (1pm 4pm) or the 3 rd Thursday evening of each month. We ask that you pre-pay for a session you plan to attend in order to reserve your space. Check calendar on website for specific projects and details. Once the cut-it up session is attended, you can sign up for any or all of the meetings. Call the shop for more information.

15 Other cool projects: Fabric Bowls: Teacher Venetta Morger This is a fun class and you will have at least one bowl made at the end of it! Create these beautiful, durable fabric bowls using clothesline and 2 ½ strips! Class meets: Thursday, September 19 th, OR Wednesday October 16 th 10am 4pm. Class fee: $35 After you have mastered the fabric bowl technique, you may want to try: Fabric Purse Teacher: Venetta Morger Students must take the fabric bowls class first in order to learn the technique used. Tall Trees Teacher: Margaret Persinger This is a fun make-and-take to get you in the holiday spirit. Class meets: Saturday, October 5 th 1pm 4pm. 17 Technique Classes: Cut, Pin, Stitch Teacher: Patsy Mosby Brand new to sewing and want to make a quilt, but don t feel confident? This is just the class you need to get started! Learn to rotary cut safely and accurately, as well as precision pinning, and stitching the quilters quarter inch seam. Discover pressing techniques that will make your projects outstanding. Master these very basic skills and you ll be ready to move on to the next level. Instruction/Sample folder included in class fee. A sewing machine is required for this class. Class meets: Saturday, September 21 st, 1:30 4:30pm. Class fee: $25. Borders, Schmorders! Teacher: Susi Looney This is a great class where you will have the opportunity to consider a new design approach to borders, experience pleasing intuitive design, sew a variety of sample borders. Class meets: Wednesday, October 2 nd, 9:30 4pm. Class fee: $45

18 Machine Quilting Level 1: Intro to Machine quilting Teacher: Ida Anderson Learn to use the walking foot, some decorative stitches on your domestic machine and free motion quilting. Class meets: Thursday, June 20 th OR Tuesday Oct 22 nd from 9:30 12:30 OR Tuesday, August 20 th, 5 8pm. Class fee: $30 Level 2 Machine Quilting: Feathers and Free Motion Teacher: Ida Anderson Pre-requisite: basic machine quilting knowledge, must feel comfortable with free-motion quilting and have quilted a few quilts but are ready to feather your next quilt! Class meets: Monday, August 26 th, 1:30 4:30. Class fee: $30 One Line At A time Teacher: Ida Anderson Learn to quilt crosshatching, clamshells and much more! Book required and available at the shop. Class meets: Thurs June 20 th OR Thursday August 15 th OR Tuesday October 22 nd, 1:30 4:30. Class fee: $30

19 Free Motion Doodle Quilting Teacher: Ida Anderson Book required and available at shop. Class meets: Class meets: Tuesday, May 28 th from 5 8 pm OR Monday June 24 th either at 1:30 4:30 or 5pm 8 pm OR Monday August 26 th 9:30 12:30 OR Tuesday, Aug 27 th 5pm 8pm. Baltimore Block of the month: Baltimore Hand Applique quilt (all levels): Teacher: Patsy Mosby Beginners, meet with this hand applique instructor for a 2 hr. class each month. You ll use Mimi Dietrich s book, Baltimore Basics, and some additional patterns provided by the teacher. By completing a block (10 or 12 ) each month, you ll have 12 finished blocks ready to set together in your own album quilt. Master curves, points, stems and perfect circles. Explore hand basted preparation, freezer paper, plastic template, stitch marked, and needle turn techniques. Class will meet on the second Monday of each month from 10 noon for six 2 hr. classes beginning on Monday, September 9th. Class fee for 6 sessions is $84. Sign up for 12 months and get $12 discount or $154 for 12 sessions.

20 UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED, ALL CLASSES REQUIRE: *Basic Sewing Supplies: Pins, needles, scissors, seam ripper, bobbins, thread, rotary cutter and ruler( many teachers ask you to bring a 6 x24 ruler), pencil, paper. Cutting mats, cutting table, irons and ironing boards are available in the classroom. Feel free to bring your own, if you d like. Sewing Machines: You should be familiar with your sewing machine and it should be in good working order. Bring your manual, just in case! Bring the cord and pedal! We work hard to offer you well-organized and interesting classes. Please be responsible when signing up for a class. We ask that you show your commitment in planning to attend by paying for each class when you sign up. Of course, we understand that emergencies happen. However, in most cases, a phone call or is possible explaining the situation. In that case, we will gladly refund your money or apply your payment to a later class. Not showing up, with no notice may prevent another person from attending the class or result in the teacher preparing and driving to the shop needlessly. For our Open House signups, please bring cash or check and pay the teachers directly, in order to speed up checkout during the sale in the shop. The check will not be cashed until the day the class is scheduled. Thanks for your understanding in this. 21 Free clubs/bees: (Currently in progress, but we would love to have you can join us! ) Dear Jane club Come join us! This B O M is free! You must have either the Dear Jane software (recommended) OR the Dear Jane book. Both are available through the shop Meeting times: The second Tuesday of the month (5pm 7:30pm). Sidetrack Art Quilt Club meets the second Monday of each month from 5:30 to 8pm. Come join us as we explore the possibilities found in art quilts. Facilitator: Dolores Wood. This club is free and available to anyone interested. Call or shop to sign up. Free-Sew Fridays! Every Friday we have free sewing from 10a.m. 10p.m. Bring your machine and UFOs. We ll supply the irons, ironing boards, cutting table and mats and fun! Applique Block of the Month: Hand or machine Applique meets the first Monday evening OR the third Monday morning of each month. This is a free club with Quilters Crossing purchase of either Edyta Sitar s Spring Bouquet BOM or the Baltimore Christmas BOM.

22 Free With Tri-County Quilt Guild membership (If not a guild member, but you would like to join one of the bees below, we have membership forms for the guild and attendance at guild meetings are recommended, but not required! New Bees: Queen Bee Nancy Terlikoski in this bee designed for beginning or almost beginning quilters. Work to complete your own projects or perhaps there will be a group effort! This bee is currently full. Hoop & Holler Bee Queen Bee: Teresa Wavra This is a machine embroidery bee and meets the 2 nd Tuesday afternoon of each month from 2 4pm. Hand-made in TX Queen bee: Tina Lauzon Bee meets the 3 rd Saturday each from from 10am 1pm. Machine Quilting Bee Queen Bee: Ida Anderson For both domestic and long-arm quilters. Bee meets the 4 th Wednesday evening of each month beginning at 6pm 8pm. This is a Tri-County Quilt Guild Bee. Charitable opportunities: Quilts For Soldiers families facilitator: Marian Page This group meets the second Tuesday of every month from 9:30 1:30. Come and help as they make quilts for soldiers families. You may also donate quilt shop quality fabric to this group. Bring your sewing machine, basic sewing supplies. This is a good opportunity to use your stash for a good cause! Your choice of pattern, but there is a size range requirement (see us for more details). We are also a drop-off location for Project Linus!
