Moda will provide a winner s prize for the shop winner, then a digital image will be sent to Moda to compete for a national prize. 1st Prize $500 2nd Prize $250 rd Prize $150 Designer s choice $500 Announcement date is May 8. ********NEW BLOCK OF THE MONTHS******** Gossip In The Garden Block of the Month A little piecing, a little appliqué, a little embroidery, & a few hexies thrown in. What a great way to learn some new techniques! Join Kay as she guides you through this 9 month program. Cost: 1st month $60 which includes pattern, fabrics for 1st month, and templates. 2nd through 9th month cost is $0 per month. Meets th Sat. of the Month starting January 2 at 11am. TRADITIONS CLUB In January, February and March of 2015, we are finishing up our club from 201. Stay tuned for a new Traditions Club starting later in the year. BERTIE S WINTER BLOCK OF THE MONTH We re doing ours in wool with a flannel background and borders. Just imagine! You can have this done for Christmas Judy will lead the 7" x " group for 5 monthly meetings starting the 2nd Saturday of January at 11am.. It is a pieced and fusible appliqué in wool. Cost:$ 0 per month includes all fabrics, wool & threads. WIN A $100 GIFT CERTIFICATE As an incentive to come every month to the Block of the Month Clubs, we are giving away a $100 gift certificate at the end of the year. Each time you come, you will get your name put into the pot. Winter Weather Policy Classes are cancelled only if the weather is bad. Call the shop first If you can not reach anyone at the shop, then class is canceled or call Kathy at to verify. Don t come to class if you feel uncomfortable driving in bad weather.

You will make a mini t-shirt quilt that will end up as a pillow sham. This is a great gift for high school grads, sports fanatics, foodies, or whoever! What we like about this pattern is that it looks complicated, but it is not! There is no cutting of triangles. Great way to use up your scrapsl CRIMSON GLORY Thurs. Feb 12 10am-pm Cost: $25/ pattern required Beginners will love this quilt! It is an easy & fast quilt to get done! Made of squares & rectangles, you can use a focal fabric that you love and 8 matching fat quarters to complete this quilt. MY CHARMING SCRAP BASKETS Saturday Feb 7th 10-pm Cost: $0/ pattern included 2 rulers needed (25% discount) teacher: Chris Schulte Do you have lots of 5 squares? Been collecting charm packs? This is a quilt for you! This pattern is made entirely by using only 5 squares. You will work with the designer and learn so many tips and tricks...and you ll leave class having mastered a couple of fantastic rulers. Chris will guide you through selecting & piecing the background, color selection, flower placement and finally a casual appliqué quilting style. You ll have a quilt worthy of a frame. Blooming Nine Patch Thurs Apr. 9th 10-1pm, Fri Apr 10th & Thurs 16th 10-pm Cost: $5./ book required teacher: Connie Little Have you seen any of Connie s Blooming Nine Patch Quilts? She s the guru of them. She has gotten it down to a science & can teach you how she does it. There are classes, The 1st class guides you through selection of fabrics. 2nd class is all about piecing and the rd is putting the quilt together. With Connie s guidance, you will create an absolutely stunning quilt! HAND ING Want to learn to hand quilt? Tues March pm or 6-9pm Cost: $25/ kit provided This is a technique class that will give you the basics of hand quilting. Jan Smith helps you to enjoy the art of quilting. It s not the end result, but the journey. Page DOUBLE POINTED DRESDEN Thurs Jan 29 10am-pm Cost:$25/pattern & Dresden ruler required teacher: Kay Roberts 27 x 2 Double-points put a contemporary spin on this long-time favorite and they eliminate the need of a traditional appliqued circle in the center! Using quarter circles, half circles, and three-quarter circles adds another interesting bit of character. Learn tips for turning wedge points with the Prairie Pointer Tool and use tricky piecing to assemble the arcs, circle and background. BEATLE BAG Tues Mar 1 10-pm Cost: $25/ pattern required The Beatle Bag is your personalized traveling bag. We use it as a sewing kit, but you could store beads, flosses, make-up or jewelry. Great for all kinds of uses. Want to make more than one, extra sets of inserts are available. ATTENTION GRADUATES Wed Jan 7 & Wed Apr 1 10-pm Cost: $10 teacher/ Connie Little This class is for any student that has taken our Basic Beginner class. (9wk class that teaches how to make a quilt.) This graduate class is for students that want personal attention. Connie will be available to answer questions, guide you in choosing pattern, selecting fabrics, and getting you started. Help is also available for working on and finishing your quilts. Let s get them done!! CELEBRATE SPRING! Thurs Feb p OR 6-9p Cost :$20/ pattern required teacher: Gwen Greene Learn hand embroidery with simple redwork stitches or do various stitches such as satin stitch and lazy daisy with different color threads. CRAZY BLOCK PILLOW Mon. April pm & April pm Cost: $0/ pattern included teacher: Jan Smith 1st class is piecing the 20 block, the 2nd class you will learn the many possibilities of embroidery stitches. Jan will give you individual attention needed to complete a beautiful pillow or you can frame it!

4 MACHINE ING PRIMER Tues Jan 1 OR Wed April OR Cost: $20/book required This is the class to get you started on quilting your own quilts. Kathy will teach you how to free motion quilt on your home machine. We will talk about workspace, basting, & preparation, plus hands on. MACHINE ING CLASSES STENCILS & SUCH Thur March pm or 6-9p Cost: $20 Learn how to use stencils, enlarge or reduce them & how to fit them into borders & blocks. We will experiment with different marking systems to help get that quilt done. Can bring a quilt to discuss options, but will not be working on it. TRAPUNTO BY MACHINE Thurs Feb pm or 6-9pm Cost: $20/ stencil required Trapunto adds a third dimension to quilts. Learn to do this easy technique by machine. Create a block which can later be made into a pillow. Although we teach this process by machine, it can be done by hand also. Prerequisite Primer class Fun things we like to do at The Quilting Squares PMS Night Pizza, Munchies & Sewing 1st Fridays of the month Jan 2, Feb 6, & Mar 6. No PMS in April. 5pm-10pm Cost: $10 This is the night to kick back & enjoy some quality time with fellow quilters & your unfinished projects. POKER rd Fridays of the month Jan 16, Feb 20, Mar 20 & Apr 17 Cost:$10 Bring your unfinished projects and join the fun. We don t really play poker but we do give out a card every time you come to PMS or Poker. At the end of the year the best hand wins a $100. gift certificate from the store. LEARN HOW TO MAKE A QUIL T A Beginner Quilt Class NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY Always wanted to learn to quilt or just improve your skills? We will cover all aspects of a quilt; cutting, piecing, block sizing, borders, basting, quilting and binding. You will have a completed quilt when you graduate from this class. We have machines available on request. Must pay for class to reserve a spot. This is a popular class so sign up as soon as possible. Day class is on Mondays starting January pm for 10 weeks. Night class is on Wednesdays starting Jan 1 6-9pm for 10 weeks. Cost:$ includes handouts and seam guide. rd Wednesdays in the month Jan 21, Feb 18, Mar 18 & Apr 15. Cost: $10 We offer several opportunities throughout the calendar year for our customers to come in to sit & sew. Join the fun & have lunch with us. ZEN ING Tues Apr p or 6-9p Cost: 20/ Zen Quilting book required We will explore Zentangle movements and relate them to the quilting process. This is a great class to relax and enjoy quilting because there are no rules! In the end, you will have a pretty piece of artwork. NEW EVENT For these events there is a $10 fee. The fee reserves your spot, the use of the room and a light dinner or lunch CAKE AND COFFEE DAY This is a special day! Help us celebrate. We ll have special cake with special coffee and a special item to demo. Kay will be baking so you know it will be delicious.
