Now is the time to be thinking about your gift giving knits, and having a special night or afternoon outing just for you. We have lots of classes available for the fiber arts enthusiast. Make sure you remember to bring in your UFO s to have your name entered in the draw. Sept 10th is the draw date and we have some great prizes. Fri 10-6 Sat 10-4 Phone: Loree Lennox was here in Aug and ran the Wet Felting class it was a great success. We are looking forward to having her come back and expand on what you have already learned or if you missed the class you can have a second chance at it. Next class you can choose a super soft Merino roving to make a wonderful scarf.

2 September / October 2014 Page 2 JOIN US FOR a Trunk Show Wed Sept 10 6:30-8:30 PM Monika Stramaglia s machine knitting classes are starting to fill up so please get your name in soon. And remember she will be presenting a trunk show on WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 10th 6:30 8:30 pm. Come and see how creative you can be. If you don t have a machine don t worry Monika can supply you with one for the classes. See a collection of garments, scarves, shawls and blankets created on a very basic knitting machine. Monika will include a discussion about the various types of machines, and a short demo on the LK150. Basics of Machine Knitting A three session class, where you will learn casting on and off, basic knitting, increasing and decreasing, short rowing. This class also works as a great refresher course. If there is enough interest the course will run a second time. Saturday, Oct 25, Nov 1 & Nov 8, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Students are required to bring their own machines, in good working order, and yarns appropriate to their machine. Min 4 Students Max 8 Students Date: Saturday, Sept 20, 27, & Oct 4th. Instructor: Monika Time: 10:00 am to 1:00pm COURSE FEE: $100 LK150 machines are available to rent Cost: $30.00 for all three sessions.

With our new facility we can have the classes here. DYING to KNIT 3 hour Session. Project: dying yarn of your choice Date: Sunday September 28th and /or Thursday evening Thursday October 2nd Instructor: Lyn Gemmell Time: Sunday 1:00 to 4:00 (daytime class) Thursday evening 6:30-8:30pm COURSE FEE: $10+ your choice of yarn We have a great yarn selection for you to choose from. Now is your chance to dye the yarn you have been yearning for. Can we suggest a hank of the superwash merino worsted weight? Once you have your beautiful Hand dyed yarn take Deb s Class on October 4th use it to make the custom mittlets or mittens. MITTLETS or MITTENS by FORMULA: 4 hour Session. Throw away your mittlet/mitten patterns. You ll never need another mittlet/mitten pattern again. Learn to knit a mittlet/mitten in the round with a percentage system. It s easy and versatile. With a little, very little, math you are ready to go. You ll be able to add a stitch pattern to the back of the hand, work a really easy thumb and adjust the pattern to make either mittens or fingerless mittlets. Project: Mittlets or Mittens Date: Saturday October 4 Instructor: Deb Gemmell Time: 1:00 to 5:00 (daytime class) COURSE FEE: $35 includes pattern Give us your suggestions and we will gladly make a class for you.

4 September / October Page 4 The ladies had so much fun last month felting Table runners we thought we would have Loree back to run the class again, only this time you can use the super soft merino roving s and have a divinely soft scarf. See some pictures below. INTRODUCTION to WET FELTING Project: Felted Table Runner (approximately 3' long x 1' wide) OR Felted scarf Date: Thursday, October 9th. Time: 1:00 to 4:00 (daytime class) OR 6:00 to 9:00 (evening class) Please Bring: comfy clothing and shoes, large bath towel. Wearing limited jewelry is recommended. COURSE FEE: $55 for table runner or $65 for scarf. Includes everything needed to make either the runner or the scarf. Class policy Classes must be fully paid for in advance to reserve your spot. If we cancel we will try for a make up date that is convenient for all or refund your Money. If you cancel we will try to fill your spot from the waiting list, if we can your money will be refunded. We need at least 48 hours notice for a cancelation.

5 Crochet classes Your never too Old or too Young to Learn. September / October 2014 Sock of the Month Page 5 Join Effie on Monday evenings for CROCHET class. You can pick your own Project or learn as you go from a variety of projects. Date: Mon September 8, 15, 22, & 29, Oct 6th. Instructor: Effie Time: 6:30-8:30 pm COURSE FEE: $65 for 5 classes. you are interested please give us a call class is limited to 7 students. And fills up quickly. Give us your suggestions and we will gladly find a teacher and make a class for you. Classes are filling up quickly so please phone for availability. Drop in Classes Monday, Friday, and Saturday Drop in Classes. 1-3 pm $10 per session If you have never been to one the way they work is you tell me what you want to learn; it could be a different style of casting on, Entrelac, Button Bands, Finishing, knitting with Beads, Crochet or maybe you just want to learn how to knit. Classes run from 1-3 cost $10 per 2 hour session. Come as often as you like. Jane Little will be back again to run the Sock of the month club 12 months 6 pair of socks. 1 sock /month This years theme. Project: 6 original socks JANE s Original Designs. Date: 1st & 3rd Mon evenings Sept Aug 2015 Instructor: Jane Time: 6:30-8:30 COURSE FEE: $40 per student per pair of socks (includes yarn & pattern) If you have never tried this before; you get Jane's choice of yarn, your choice of colour. 8 weeks to complete your sock before the next pair of socks is introduced. Tues. Lace Night Kathie is back Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30. Kathie is an excellent lace knitter and will help you with the simplest to the most complex lace. So come out and give it a try. Only $5.00 per session. Wednesday Come on out and join us for a great social time. Wednesday evenings 6:30-8:30 See what your neighbors are knitting.
