Three years, owl purchases over $13,000, 260 owls of every colour, shape and name have been sold and shipped to Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, western and eastern Canada, New York City, and Donna is selecting a second student to help with this project. It's a truly 'good news' story. Hootables Owls is a perfect example of goods things coming out of bad things. Sidelined, waiting for back surgery, Donna started experimenting with short needles and the idea of a stuffed animal. Eventually, an owl emerged. When she met a student for whom post secondary education was an impossible dream, the idea of the owls helping the student became a reality. Laurie Warwick, of Warwick & Hughes Food Market, offered retail shelf space for Hootables and sells many of them. Tyler Thurston, graphic designer, came up with a logo. 4 Page 4 Welcome Spring 2015 at Fern Resort with the third annual Yarnover Sleepover Retreat on the second weekend of April. The retreat will interest knitters, crocheters, dyers and machine knitters with a choice of 9 different classes chosen for all skill levels. Yarnover Sleepover runs from Friday dinner to Sunday lunch and includes your choice of nine 2-hour classes, a cozy lounge for relaxing in front of the fireplace, entertainment, and a marketplace. You ll have until mid-afternoon to check-out so exploring the woods if it s not too wet, or visiting nearby Casino Rama, are available options. A lounge, with fireplace, will be open most of the weekend manned by one of the teachers and of course, vendors will be there to tempt you with yarn and other goodies and to supply anything you may have forgotten to bring. Accommodation, meals, snacks, and classes are all included in the $ price. Call Fern Resort at with a $ deposit. Wonderful atmosphere. Fun, fun, fun, and lots of learning and fabulous food. I thought I knew a lot about knitting until I came here, and learned things I could not have even imagined. Highly therapeutic and inspirational. Retreat Participants 2014 Here s What We ll be Up To Thirteen classes taught by seven teachers, on Saturday and Sunday, will be preceded on Friday night by get-you-in-the-mood 15 minute speed knit techniques classes. There s a wide range of classes. Saturday evening will be our Fashion Share event. You ll enjoy the Market Place and delicious Fern Resort meals and snacks from Friday evening through to Sunday lunch. The lounge will always be available for sitting, knitting, talking, and learning with teachers and other participants.

HOOKERS Circle We seem to have attracted some new crafters The HOOKERS are now meeting on Wednesday afternoons 1-3 As this group grows we will be sourcing supplies for them. We already have some beautiful bundles of wool. Each bundle has a unique hand dyed fabric to coordinate with the rest of the fabrics in the bundle. Only $17.95 Drop in Classes Monday, Friday, and Saturday 1:00-3:00pm If you have never been to one the way they work is you tell me what you want to learn; it could be a different style of casting on, Entrelac, Button Bands, Finishing, knitting with Beads, Crochet or maybe you just want to learn how to knit. Classes run from 1-3 cost $10 per 2 hour session. Come as often as you like. Learn something new every time. Sock of the Month Club It s never too late to join. This years theme is all about JANE Jane has already knit up some socks for you to see. If you have never knit socks before don t worry Jane is here the 1st & 3rd Monday 6:30-8:30 to help. Club price $40.00 includes Yarn, Pattern, 4 classes.
