7 members weren't able to stay in the main (sewing) building because of hurricane repair workers staying there, but we've reserved the whole building next time so we all can stay in one place. Put us on your calendar for 2020! Sue Kleeman and Ruth Powers 2019 SPRING RETREAT Feb 24 Mar 1 The Islander on Emerald Isle 2019 FALL RETREAT Nov 3-8 The Islander on Emerald Isle. Twin Rivers Retreats 2019 Winter Retreat Winter Retreat: There weren't many of us (18) at the Winter Retreat, but we had a wonderful week. Our new venue, The Islander on Emerald Isle, was wonderful in spite of having no restaurant. The well lit room was so cheerful and bright, and having two meals "catered" seemed to be a hit. Gave us more time to sit and visit with friends or quickly go back to sewing. Reservations for 2020 are made, but please note, we will be going back to the Martin Luther King week date that we have used for years. Also, some of our 2019 HOLIDAY RETREAT Dec 1-6 Trinity Center on Atlantic Beach \ 2019 TRQG QUILT SHOW BEE BY THE RIVER 2019 We are ready to restart all our activities for our quilt Show at the New Bern Convention Center. We have been in close communication with Mary McGee and work should start very soon and all expectations are that the Convention Center will be ready and refurbished for our Show. It is expected to reopen in September. The following is the statement we are formally issuing to the media, our advertisers, our vendors, our fellow quilt sisters, and to social media. Planning has resumed for the Twin Rivers Quilters Guild s biennial quilt show. We are excited to return to the New Bern Riverfront Page 7 of 12

8 Convention Center for our 2019 Bee by The River Season s for Quilts Quilt Show October 25 and 26, We challenge all guild members, fellow quilters and community members to fill the convention center with their amazing quilted treasures highlighting the talent here in Eastern North Carolina. Let your artistry, your compassion, your struggle, your growth and your beauty shine as we come together as a community to host a beautiful quilt show and celebrate the resilience of our community. We now have 249 Days until we turn our quilts in. It is time to raise the excitement and make our show even better. First, we are always looking for people to help. We would really like to get more people involved in the process. We are looking for cochairs and helpers in all areas. It is fun seeing your beautiful quilt in the show but it is even more fun participating in the planning and execution activities. This truly takes a quilt family to make this show a success.. Here are some specific areas we need help. Boutique Jeanne Batten is the Chairman. We will need unique and beautiful item to sell. Put on your thinking cap and get with your friends to make some wonderful creative items. It s fun to do and we will really like to have a lot of cool items. It would be great to have more seasonal items. Our show s theme is seasons of quilts, so Halloween, thanksgiving, Christmas, st. Patty s Day, Spring, etc items would be very nice. Challenge Quilt All challenges have been and now it is time to complete the quilt. If you did not get it completed for last year s show, now is the time to start and complete it. Ultimate Raffle Laura Miller is the Chairman and she already has some wonderful items, but some of them really need to have more content to make them very, very special We are looking for themed baskets or item groupings and have a value around $100-$150 that makes people what to take a ticket chance on wiinning them. We already have some very lovely travel or quilting bags, sports/golf themes, quilting themes, Spa themes, etc. I am sure that Laura and her team would love to have you approach them on items you would like to add. Quilts for Sale Kit Crouch and Sandy Drechsler are the Chairmen. If you registered quilts for the 2018 Show and they are no longer available, please let them know. If you want to sell a quilt item (completed quilt or a completed top (not quilted), you will be able to find the registration form on our website. Quilt Show Registration Marisue Shannon is the Chairman. If you have already sent in your registration and all your quilts are still going to be in the show, the only thing you should do is make another quilt or complete your Challenge. If you need to pull a quilt out, you need to call Marisue and then make another quilt or two. If you haven t given Marisue the forms yet, please get them to her now and then start making another quilt. If you did not enter a quilt in the show, you should and fill out the registration which is found on our website and get it to her Special Exhibit Lilly Lucier is the Chairman and our display will be Seasons of Quilts. She is looking for quilt items that represent the seasons. Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. If you have registered and will still keep that item in the display, great, but if you no longer will be displaying it, let her know. If you have a wonderful item or decoration and what it displayed, the forms are on our website or give Lilly a call. Twice around Treasures Linda Sullivan and Chris Youngs are the Chairman. They are continuing to collect wonderful treasures from your quilt room to sell at their booth. This is the biggest profit maker in our show and we have been collecting for quite a while. HOWEVER we always can use more. Clean your Page 8 of 12

9 quilt rooms and pass those treasures to our guild. Volunteer Show Workers Chris Babich is the Chairman. Many areas need help during the show for all kinds of activities. If you can't call then knock on the windows and someone will come up and let you in. Also, please remember to wear you guild I.D. Badge. Thanks for your continued cooperation to ensure our safety and the safety of the children.
