1 Columbine Quilters November 2017 O F F I C E R S Nancy Ballantyne Barbara Cencich Kay Frantz Cheryl Yergler Press Mess From Nancy The October Columbine Quilters meeting started out to be a comedy of errors a bit. Some thought I wouldn't be there. I was. However, the birthday cake I had ordered wasn't ready, so we had cupcakes. Rebecca thought since I wouldn't be there, she would bring cupcakes, so we had plenty of them. Barb brought enough food for an army, representing all the food groups. At the last minute we found that the person presenting the program was sick, so Rebecca improvised a "Bring Whatever You're Working On" program that turned out to be helpful and interesting. Marilyn was very sick, but I saw no reason why couldn't carry on her duties. However, I could find a coffee pot, so I used one from another cupboard that was labeled "Circle of Friends". Hope you're much better, Marilyn. I certainly have a new appreciation for Marilyn's part of CQ. Despite it all, we had a nice meeting and a group of people volunteered for a trunk show for the Basket Case Quilters January meeting. Aren't quilters terrific? Guidelines for the challenge quilt will be the perimeter may be no more than 120 inches and the quilt must be made by one person. Carolyn Ray is asking what type of ½ day classes you would be interested in taking. Here are a few suggestions and they can add others. Carolyn Ray would know what is interesting to Columbine quilters. Paper Piecing English paper piecing Celtic appliqué Applique Quilting on a domestic machine Wool appliqué Color theory Edge finishes, binding flange, facing, piping Fabric dying Fabric painting Crazy quilting Embroider, traditional and /or Brazilian Other, Tell me what you want. If they are good at any of these and would like to teach a class, please let her know. If they know someone who would be a good teacher for any of these, I would like to know. I would like to show case some of the great talent in our guilds and community if possible. Thank you Carolyn Ray Programs November- sew in with Barb Cencich. She will have a short presentation on the exploding block and then plan to stay and work on those blocks. I ll have plenty cut out. BYO lunch. Bring the regular sew in supplies. December games, potluck, Christmas FQ exchange ******************************************************************************************************* For those who would like to make community service quilts, but has a hard time quilting a large quilt on your sewing machine. 5 We saw Evelyn's space last winter when she was snow birding, now she has her sewing space in her new Town House here in town. She has some great storage. She has a wonderful sewing table. Having the iron board right there is so handy. And she is watching" The Rifleman".
6 This looks like her cutting table and work space. Thank you Evelyn for sharing.
