Wow! I sure had a crazy July, and I was totally exhausted at the July meeting! I m much better now. It s amazing what a little sleep and less stress will do for a person! Thanks for being so understanding! What a great group! We sure have a great line-up for programs for the fall! Don t miss out! Sign up and join in the fun. Margaret has done such an amazing job with our programs this year! Thanks for all you do for our guild, Margaret! By the way, I have blank spaces in my records for a NOMINATING COMMITTEE! I ve been busy getting some positions with possibilities! It really will be a very simple job to do for your guild for We have such a great Board! 2 Friendship Quilters of Western Colorado Guild Meeting Victory Baptist Church July 27, 2017 The Friendship Quilters guild meeting was called to order at 9:30 am. 39 members and 3 guests were present. This included one new member Debbie Saliman. June minutes were approved as printed in the newsletter. Treasurers report was given: Prior balance was $9, with income from class fees, dues and ugly money of $ and expenses of $ to the church and class instructor. Leaving a balance of $9, Announcements: Peggy King has cookies left over from the quilt show for sale and sodas for a donation at the lunch after the meeting. The Montrose Press ran a thank you for attendance at the quilt show submitted by Karla Gilbert. Delta will be honoring Kim Squires who is a former member. Robbie Turgeon read a thank you note from Pat Lambert for donations to Hope West in memory of Paul as well as the support she has received from her quilting family. Leta Seacat received 3 caring quilts from the Strippers small group for victims of the Kansas fire. Former Glenwood Sewing will be opening a shop near Michael s in Grand Junction. Library: No report but books are available. Sunshine: A card was sent to Sue Peters. Newsletter: No report-have items in by the 7th of August for the next issue. Quilts of Valor: Next sew day is August 7th 9-3pm, at the Cimarron Creek Community Center. September sew day is cancelled due to the holiday. For more information contact Sue Palmer. Program: Today will be show quilts by entrants and how they did them or what inspired them, followed by the pot luck. August will be the challenge quilt by Margaret Noah. Hope West: The quilt for August is by Robyn Starnes. Library Quilt: The quilt for August is by Abigail Renfrow. Sharing Ministries: The next collections will be September, November and December, but donations will be taken any time. Chinle: Sue Sharman reported she worked with kids July She stayed at the church but visited some of the homes-very much third world living conditions. She will be going back in late August to do shrugs. Black Canyon Quilt Show: Mary Ross thanked all who entered quilts and worked the show. She gave numbers concerning attendance, some of the costs, the raffle quilt and the boutique. The 2018 quilt show will be July Pat Huff is sending signup sheets around for next year s volunteers. Caring Quilts: Shana Jensen received 7 quilts in June. 3 went to Haven House, 2 to Community Options, 1 to the Cancer Center and 1 to Dolphin House. Show and tell was next-as always, it s amazing how much gets done. The show quilts were then shown by the makers with their stories. Very entertaining. The pot luck was next with lots of good food! 3 Hilltop Youth Services has asked for pillowcases and 6½X8½ drawstring bags to give to children who have been removed from their Quilts of Valor Meetings are the first Monday of every month from 9:00 to 3:00 at the Cimarron Creek Community Center. Library Quilts: The August quilt at the library is the blue ribbon Youth quilt designed, pieced, embroidered, and quilted by 16 year old Abigail Renfrow. Black Canyon Quilt Show News Mark your calendar for the 3rd Saturday in September, September 16th, for the Black Canyon Quilt Show Annual Meeting. Your presence is needed to elect Board Members to chair the 2018 Black Canyon Quilt Show. More information will be forthcoming.
