We still need a 2 nd VP, and are still looking for ideas for programs and classes. Please bring your no longer used sewing or quilted items so that they can be recycled to a new home. Thanks Everyone for supporting this wonderful organization. General Meeting, January 17, 2018 The general meeting was called to order by President Laura Grimsley at 9:30 a.m. Meeting was recorded. Maureen Miller, Orlando USO volunteer, thanked guild for the quilt which was donated to USO at Cracker Christmas in December The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by members. Motion was made to approve minutes from November meeting by Connie Duff and seconded by Janet Romer. Motion was approved. Announcements: President Grimsley announced that Rose Palek is scheduled for valve replacement surgery this morning in Orlando. Nancy Smith is scheduled for gum cancer surgery in February. Comfort quilts will be given to both ladies. Phone calls, texts, or cards were suggested. Andie Claudius is coordinating refreshments for our business meetings. Please sign up on her refreshments calendar. Great Outdoors has a bus going to the Orlando Quilt Show tomorrow (January 18). Membership: Joyce Tesdall announced 35 members and 1 guest Erica, (Jan Brock s daughter) were present and $49 was collected for the church food pantry. Treasurer: Connie Duff provided Profit and Loss/Balance Sheets for months of November and December 2017, and Cracker Christmas quilt sales. Blessing of the quilts numbered 168 and 56 were sold at Cracker Christmas event. Events: There will be a Fort Christmas Blue Grass Back Yard Barbeque Festival March 24, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Arts and crafts booths are included. Price is same for 1 or 2 booths, $25 plus insurance. If any member would like to chair / coordinate a group to participate, by selling guild items, please contact President Grimsley. President Grimsley announced January member birthdays and asked each to share some of their wisdom as a quilter. Members sang the Birthday Song.

3 Basket Drawing: Baskets were won by Sharon Hollenback and Andie Claudius. Sherrianne Larson has volunteered to do baskets and Hospice Quilts of Valor. Sherrianne announced she will be teaching the Texas Star quilt in May. Correspondence: Received a thank you from Titusville High Project Graduation which raised $244 from guild donated large throw quilt. BOM: Was won by Mona Margetts who donated blocks back to guild. Nancy Smith is working with Janet Romer s help on February Arrowhead BOM. President Grimsley plans to bring a hand quilted embroidered quilt made by Cora Postlethwait to next meeting. Cora has donated the quilt to the guild. Fat Quarter Drawing: Janet Romer and Eileen Guntner were winners of this months fat quarters. Color for February s fat quarters if green. Cecilia Reid announced 2 upcoming events in which she will be participating. The Melbourne Quilt Guild Show will be held February at Wickham Park Community Center and March 9-10 the New Smyrna Quilt Guild show will be held at the New Smyrna First Baptist Church. If you are interested in participating, check out each guild s web site for further information. Christmas Luncheon: Members gave a round of applause in appreciation to Doris Andera for all her work as 2017 Christmas Luncheon Chair. Doris has offered to help a new chairperson organize the 2018 luncheon. She reminded members that reservations for the location and chef need to be made as soon as possible. Members agreed to St. Gabriels and Chef. Jo Charvez made a motion to give Doris a check for $250 to make a reservation with the Chef for first Wednesday in December And then reserve St. Gabriels Cindy Gooden seconded the motion which was approved. Programs: February: Joyce Tesdall suggested members bring one of their favorite quilts and talk about the quilt. At least three members are planning to be show and tell about their quilt. March: Karen Martin announced a representative from Timeless Treasures will attend with a Short Bolt Sale. Reminders: If you have quilting or sewing related items you no longer want/need, there is a donation table at every monthly business meeting. We are continuing to request a member or co-members to assume the 2 nd Vice President position.
