3 Party with Patrick/December 2013 Tree Trimming Time An optional machine embroidery appliqué design to help in making this project is available at under Party with Patrick embroideries! Instructions 1. Refer to the cutting and piecing page for cutting instructions. 2. Trace the templates onto the paper side of your fusible adhesive leaving approximately ½ between tracings. Trace the dashed stitching and placement lines also, if desired. 3. Roughly cut the templates from the adhesive just outside of the traced line. 4. Place the adhesive templates onto the wrong side of their corresponding appliqué fabrics and fuse in place according to manufacturer s instructions. 5. Neatly cut the appliqués from the fabrics on the traced template lines. 6. Transfer the dashed stitching lines to the right side of the fabric with a non-permanent pen or pencil, if desired. You can use a light table or daylit window. 7. Peel the paper backing from the appliqués and arrange them on the background pieces. Fuse appliqués into place. 8. Place the Sulky Tear-Easy stabilizer behind the block and satin stitch the raw edges of the appliqués, using Sulky Premium 40 wt rayon thread. Satin stitch ribbon ties on marked line. Remove the stabilizer after stitching. 9. Piece the quilt, as shown on the cutting and piecing page. 10. Sandwich batting between quilt and backing with wrong sides of quilt top and backing against batting. 11. Quilt as desired. I used a straight stitch, in matching thread, around each appliqué s satin stitching and in the ditch of all seams. Using a straight stitch, stitch approximately 1/8" from star edge on marked line. I quilted in the ditch of all seams and micro strippled the background of the ornament blocks. The ornament s hanging cord is done with a machine triple stitch. 12. Bind, as usual, using 2¼ strips cut from the binding fabric. 13. Add a hanging sleeve, if desired. Copyright 2013 All Rights Reserved Visit

4 Cutting All seams are stitched at ¼. 1. From the cream fabric, cut three 5½ x 6½ pieces for appliqué background. 2. From the red fabric, cut two 1½ x 40 strips, from these strips cut two 1½ x 20½ pieces, one 1½ x 7½ pieces and two 1½ x 5½" pieces. Cut one bottom triangle piece using pattern. 3. 6 Cranberry Cocktail Meatballs INGREDIENTS Recipe courtesy of Southern Food 2 pounds ground beef 1 cup corn flake crumbs 2 eggs 1/4 cup chopped, fresh parsley 1/3 cup ketchup 1/4 cup minced onions 2 tablespoons soy sauce 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1 can (16 ounces) cranberry sauce 12 ounces chili sauce 1 tablespoon brown sugar, firmly packed 2 teaspoons lemon juice In a large bowl, combine ground beef, corn flake crumbs, parsley, eggs, ketchup, onion, soy sauce, garlic powder and pepper. Blend ingredients well and form into small balls, about 3/4-inch in diameter. Place in a casserole or baking pan. Heat oven to 300. While meatballs are cooking, combine cranberry sauce, chili sauce, brown sugar, and lemon juice in a saucepan. Cook, stirring, over medium heat until mixture is blended. Pour hot sauce over meatballs in casserole. Bake for about 45 minutes, depending on the size of the meatballs. Transfer to crockpot and keep on LOW for serving. Makes 4 to 5 dozen meatballs, depending on size. Artwork 2013 Patrick Lose Spinach & Artichoke Afredo Dip INGREDIENTS A quick and easy version 4 cloves garlic 1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained 1 (14 ounce) can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped 1 (10 ounce) container Alfredo-style pasta sauce 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1/2 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). 2. Place garlic in a small baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven 20 to 30 minutes, until soft. Remove from heat. When cool enough to touch, squeeze softened garlic from skins. 3. In an 8x8 inch baking dish, spread the roasted garlic, spinach, artichoke hearts, Alfredo-style pasta sauce, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and cream cheese. 4. Bake in the preheated oven 30 minutes, or until cheeses are melted and bubbly. Serve warm. Artwork 2013 Patrick Lose
