So keep an eye out at all the sales to find that just perfect notion. When we do the actual exchange, we ll exchange following the popular right-left Christmas story method. Bev Mathis volunteered to find one that s just right! Remember your Shows and Tells, block exchanges, UFOs and enthusiasm. Greeters:???? Membership Renewal starts this month. President s message Merry Christmas to everyone. Hope all of you have a wonderful and safe holiday season. As we look back at this year we are all reminded that our lives are filled with joy and happiness. The holiday season means so much to so many. It is a time to remember all of those close by and far away. The best ones to remember are those that we have lost. We all have those that we were so close to that we remember more this time of year. As we think of these family members remember that quilting can be a wonderful way to remember them in so many ways. Some for the quilts that we have made and some for the quilts that we are working on or thinking of making. (continued page 2)

She gave a short history of the YWCA and the Mercy Home. Lots of wonderful Show and Tell too. Mercy Home Toiletries Drive Bring in all those toiletries that you ve saved up from trips throughout the year or that you ve bought. December is the final month; we ll deliver them after the December meeting. Dody Sproles is heading it up this year. Community Service at work (President s message cont d from page 1) Memory quilts are a wonderful way to remember those so close to us. Hope to see everyone at the Christmas pot luck this month. Be sure to look in the newsletter to see what we are all asked to bring. A gift exchange will be going on so bring your package with a sewing item. Thanks to everyone that has worked with me this past year and look forward to working with this next year. Merry Christmas everyone. Deana December is the deadline for the UFO Challenge and is the last month of the Bowtie Block Exchange. UFO Challenge How are you doing on your UFO lists. Keep on working on them. Every FINISHED UFO shown at SHOW & TELL = one chance at the drawing for the fat quarters. Block Exchange 2017 Bowtie The 2017 Block exchange block is the 6 finished (6½ unfinished) bowtie. Remember you can join in or drop out whenever you want. Directions are available at meetings and from Diana Simkins in addition to many on-line sites. Birthday Surprise This month's birthday surprise is for member s whose birthday is in DECEMBER. AND you have to be present to choose your surprise.

5 Page 5, Inc General Meeting Minutes Tuesday, November 14, 2017 Senior Citizens Center December 2017 Volume 32, Issue 12 Call to Order: President Deana Wilson called the monthly meeting of the FQG to order at 7pm. Minutes: The minutes of the meeting were posted on the Bulletin Board in the newsletter. Financial Reports: Reports are posted on the Bulletin Board. Treasurer Annie Neiffer is available to answer any questions and clarify information. Correspondence: A Thank You note from a grateful Bear Quilt recipient was read and posted on the bulletin board. Announcements: The December meeting is a potluck starting at 6:30. See the newsletter and the posting on the bulletin board for food assignments. The gift exchange is $10 or less sewing notions. There will be show and tell. Donated quilts books from Jean Duffy are available for members. Committee Reports: Komforters for Kids Martha Wood -55 quilts were delivered in September. 123 quilt making kits were made on October 17 at Martha s house. Stash is 20 quilts. 270 quilts were delivered in 2016/1017. Since 1999, 2763 quilts have been delivered. 10 kits are available for members at this meeting.. Members are encouraged to take as many as they want. Martha also has precut squares and strips available. Contact Martha if you would like to use these to make a quilt. Hospice Quilts Susan Volf -Hospice Sew Day in October was a lot of fun and several quilt tops were completed. A quilt was shown that was available for quilting. Quilting will be paid. 8 finished quilts were turned in to the Hospice Manager. Old Business: 501c3 - Annie has been in contact with the attorney. There are no completed bylaws at this time. Budget - Turn in budget requests to Annie by December. New Business: Quilter s Challenge Kay presented a new guild activity for The birthday gifts and door prizes will stop. The Quilter s Challenge All Creatures Great and Small will start in January with a goal of many items available for display together at the 2019 Quilt Show. The monthly ticket winners (2) will select 4 fat quarters from a basket and will complete a quilted/sewn item to be shown at guild within 3 months. The sewn item will focus on the theme All Creatures Great and Small and include the fabric won. All members are encouraged to participate in the challenge. Kay will include directions in Ziploc bags with the fat quarters. Many of the fat quarter were donated earlier this year. Program: Sandi Filipowicz, YWCA Executive Director spoke about the programs offered at the Y and the Mercy Home. There are 230 victims of domestic or sexual violence per year that receive assistance through the Y. There are counselors, support groups, arts and crafts, classes, lunch speakers and more. Donated items are appreciated. Marilyn clinger showed her lovely traditional baskets quilt. (Our meetings are the second Tuesday of each month so you can mark your calendar now. They start at 7 pm unless otherwise noted. Also a meeting of the FQG Board and Committee Chairs starts at 6 pm preceding the regular meeting. Members are welcome to attend any time. If you have a specific issue though, please let the president know so she can put it on the agenda.)
