Dorothy Welton Workshop January Linda Pearson Susan Coyle JANUARY WORKSHOP (3DAYS) BINDING DEMONSTRATIONS Right now I plan to be there the 3 days. Right after lunch, I will give the binding demonstrations on great mitered corners and neat invisible closures. Then you can practice before getting back to your project. You will need to bring the following. Using a fat quarter (18 x 22) cut it into three 2 1/2" strips x 22"; 1 strip 6" x 22" and one strip 7". Sew the 2 1/2 strips into one long strip,folded and pressed in half lengthwise. This will be your binding. It will be helpful to bring batting and backing cut to those sizes also. (But not for the binding.) There may be scraps of batting and backing at the Grange and I will bring some also. Muslin or another fat quarter will work. I always get positive remarks by the fair judges Opportunity Quilt for 2017 work was done by the Moonlighter s group

We had 209 quilts turned in and donated 189 quilts to the community. We have lots of batting and backing, plus material. Can't wait to see what everyone creates this year! We will be starting to sell tickets for our 2017 Opportunity Quilt in January, if anyone has the ability to take the quilt out of the area with friends or family they can stay with, let me know and I will see if I can schedule a guild in the area you will be visiting. Sharon Helton Moonlighter s Party Thursday 12/16/16 Our Christmas meeting started with a beautiful potluck dinner at 6pm followed by a fun white elephant gift exchange from 7pm-8pm. Clean up was from 8-8:30. There was a drawing for gift cards and some other sewing items. I know it seems a bit thin...but I guess starting next month it will be back to business as usual. 3 Oroville Piecemakers Quilt Guild General Meeting Decemeber 15, 2016 Palermo Grange 7600 Irwin Ave Palermo, Ca The meeting was called to order at 10:15am by President Marla Vaughn. Business Meeting: Old Business: -Approval of Minutes: October and November minutes, motion to approve by Dale Tabor and seconded by Dottie Elliot, October and November minutes approved by unanimously. -Approval of Budget: Budget presented to members by Sharon Helton, Treasurer. Motion to approve by Sandi Corkran and seconded by Judy Hohman Budget approved unanimously by members Committee Reports: -Block of the Month: Susan Howard, Linda Pearson. This month BOM was Wonky Christmas Tree. Winner of this month s BOM was Dorothy Moyle-Smith. There will not be a BOM for January Fat Quarters: Terri Russell. This month Fat Quarter winners were: Dorothy Moyle-Smith; Juanita Gilchrist; Ellen Manera; Angie Horne; Dorothy Welton; and Shirley Reed -Community Service: Jan Owen, Chairperson, and Dottie Elloit, Co-Chair, presented to the members purchase of new exciting fabric for this coming year. Also, this year from Jan-Nov total number of quilts that were made was 195 and 185 has been donated. Jan visited Oroville Hospital and reported that there is a need for newborn blankets. So for 2017, the theme is Newborn. -Workshops: Judy Hohman, has been working hard scheduling workshops for Our calendar is filled with wonderful speakers and workshops. Go to our web page to see what is scheduled. For those who are working, this is the time to check out those classes so that you can request day off or exchange so that you can attend. New Business: -Charm Packs: Ann Harvey, presented resources for charm pack patterns from web-sites: Crafty and Missouri Star Quilts for ideas for those who participated in this month s Charm Pack sharing -Christmas Trading UFO Bags: Several UFO Bags were turned in and quite a few beautiful UFO projects were exchanged and to share for next year challenge UFO Exchange Challenge: The following members presented their finished UFO challenge: Dorothy Moyle-Smith: Shoo Fly Blocks Quilt, from blocks that she won. Virginia Brile: Panel Quilt. Terry Russell: Colorful Wonky Square Quilt. Marilla Brereton: Stain Glass Quilt, Betty Drake: Christmas Quilt. -Opportunity Quilt winner: Mr. Tommy Anderson is this year s winner of the Opportunity Quilt. Mr. Anderson requests that we present the quilt to his mother, Mrs. Theresa Anderson, Chico California. -Thank you, gift: Dorothy Welton, presented to Marla Vaughn, outgoing President, with a beautiful basket of batik fat quarters as a thank you gift from the members. Marla was overcome and very appreciative of the gift. She is looking forward to serving as our new Treasurer. Meeting was adjourned at approximately 12:00pm.
