Thanks to all of you who worked hard to make it a success. A special thanks to Ann Harvey for putting together the retreat. I am sitting in a daze after 5 days of beginning machine quilting with Cindy Needham. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by this great community of quilters. 2 Block of the Month:. 17 very cute Sunbonnet Sue blocks were turned in at the March meeting. The winner was Bev Smith. The block for April is a lovely star pattern on white background. Linda Pearson or Susan (Howard) Coyle OPPORTUNITY QUILT TICKETS: There are still of our member who have not picked up their 3 sets of tickets for $15. Pay for them and you get to keep or sell them. If you sell them, you keep that $15. I am getting mail orders for tickets so hope I don't have to mail yours away. It has been approved that each member get and pay for 3 sets of tickets. 3 Oroville Piecemakers Quilt Guild, Inc Board Meeting Butte County Library March 10, 2016 Meeting called to order: at 9:05am by President, Marla Vaughn In Attendance: Marla Vaughn, Linda Pearson, Sharon Helton, Judy Hohman, Jann Owens, Nancy Clayton, Jan Abramson, Marilla Brereton, Terry Catt, Terri Russell, Ann Harvey OLD BUSINESS: Angel Retreat: Ann Harvey brought the signup sheet for food for the three days. Marla will not be present. Ann Harvey will close up on Saturday Approval of last month s minutes: motion by Jan Owens. Seconded by Auda Hill. Approved unanimously. Quilt show: Terry Catt. Entry applications for quilts need to be in by August 18. No new vendors. Need to reach out to non-quilting vendors to fill the spots. We will have to have a meeting of committee chairs soon so that we can start recruiting members to work during the show. Jan Abramson reported that repairs on the Municipal auditorium should be done by June. A new stove and refrigerator is being purchased by the city. Concerns over sanitation were shared with the city. Sharon Helton reported that the raffle baskets and boutique items are doing well. Meetings I will miss: Marla will miss the March, May and June general meetings. Calendar: April 21; will be a workshop after the general meeting. May 5; open sew day. June 2; open sew day. June 9; no board meeting...quilt show committee instead. July 21; workshop after general meeting. July 14; board meeting. August 11; Board Meeting. August 18; General Meeting with workshop after. September 1; show preparation workshop. October general meeting will be October 6; with Pat Knoechel. October 13; Board meeting. November 3; workshop. December; no workshop or Board meeting. December 15; Christmas party. February 1; 2017 Don Linn, workshop. NEW BUSINESS: Guild Roster: The roster cover will be in color this year. Will be at March meeting. CHAIRPERSON CONCERNS: Treasurer: Sharon Helton reported that she has filed two of the 3 reports due this year. Still need to go the bank when members are present who need to sign. Need to recruit ne treasurer for next year. Raffle basket donations: Sharon Helton. Donations from local vendors are coming in. Door prizes: Marilla Brereton. They will need help in April with the door prizes because she and Shirley will be gone. Meeting Adjourned at: 10:05am Respectfully submitted by Jan Abramson, Secretary. Fat Quarters: The theme for April is building, architecture. There's fabric out there resembling brick, stone wall, walkways, electrical circuits, fencing, etc. If you don't have it, you can find it. And who doesn't want to fabric shop. Just one fat quarter, 18" x 22" with your name on it, mailing labels are fine. We had a good turn out of "baby" fabric last month. Maybe even baby stars! Time to sign off. Have great day! Terri Russell Angel Retreat: Thank you to all who attended which turned out to be a busy 3 days. For those that did not get to attend, hope to see you next time. Thank you to those that brought food, helped during the retreat and those who stayed to help clean up. I greatly appreciated that. I have been wanting to clean that kitchen floor. Dorothy and I thank you, even tho she could not be there, she shopped before she left. I have drawing prizes for those who weren t available on other days. I will give them out at the next meeting. I know it can be tough to move your schedule but it turned out really nice! It is nice having some of our day group join in too! It is good to see many of you working on your PUP projects! Hoping we can get some of them in the quilt show! I also thank the ladies that donated items for our raffle basket! It s going to be awesome! Have a great month quilting. Door Prizes - Becky Cross won a project tote with charm packs, thread and a quilt top marker. Marla Vaughn won a Orange tote, charm packs, seam ripper, and thread. Pat Woodruff won the Mystery Box which contained Two yards of white fabric and Two yards of Black fabric! Fat Quarters - Claudia Goebl won Eleven little boy prints. Next month bring Spring prints, spring flowers, green leaves any size. Workshops - No workshop this month and none scheduled for April. If you have an Idea for a workshop, call Yvonne! In May, we will be making Mesh Bags, Annie will bring Mesh for sale in April so we'll have it for the May meeting. Block of the Month - There were 5 clover blocks turned in from February and Susan McMillan won them. This month is a Disappearing or Tumbling Nine Patch in Green and Purple. If you didn't get yours contact Ashley Coffey. Tip of the Month - Jean Drane read an article about quilting birds called "The Common Quilt Nut". She also shared, quilters should keep a notebook of machine stitches. Stitch across the page with the fancy stitch you are using and make a note on the page of your stitch length and width numbers, that way when you come back to that project you know just where to set your machine. Show and Tell - or should I say Show and Sit Down? Ashley Coffey shared a Polyester Quilt that she Machine quilted for a client. Jeri Huey shared her Presidents quilt she made from the Leaf blocks we gave her about 5 years ago. Beautiful! And a Table runner she made using the same pattern. Judy Hohman shared a quilt from a class that will be taught at the Day group in April. Virginia shared a small quilt, the Redwork embroidery was done by a friend and Dorothy Moyle Smith quilted it. Tiffany Sasek shared a Giraffe quilt for her new Grandson, Roman. Susan Bumgardener shared a product called Bosal. It s a foam stabilizer that is fusible on both sides, for making purses and things that need a lot of body. Wanda Daly shared two Community Service quilts, one a Disappearing Nine Patch, the other BQ
