2 AQS Just a reminder if you want books I can order at 30 % off. Helen Williams COASTAL WOMEN S A big Thank You to all who contributed office supplies and $$ to help purchase office software for CWS staff members this month, as well as supporting our monthly collection to provide Christmas gifts for client families. I know it is a lot to ask of you and it is much appreciated. CWS needs our help in April with restocking the Shelter pantry with canned good and non-perishables. Especially needed are spaghetti, stews, soups, sauces, gravy, canned tuna, canned chicken, veggies, snacks for kids, breakfast bars, bottled juices and juice boxes. The 2 nd annual Driving Out Domestic Violence Charity Golf Tournament will tee off on Monday, April 11 th at Carolina Colors Golf Club. If you have a yen to see the newest fashions for Spring and Summer, join me for CWS's Fashion Show sponsored by Peacock's Plume. Tickets are $45 and I have reserved us a table for 10 (so your cost will be $40!) Call me at for tickets. With Spring in the air, CWS's Helping Hands Boutique thrift store is practically giving away Fall and Winter clothing! Come by for some great deals at 2721 Hwy 70 East in the Grantham Shopping Center (in James City.) Volunteers are also welcome! Thank you so very much for your support of CWS! Mary Ann DeRossett HISTORIAN If you have pictures you would like to share please send them to Phyllis Prideaux Twin Rivers Quilters Guild is now on Facebook! Visit uild and Like us. Admin for our Facebook page is currently Lynn Peck-Collins. information and photos of events to lpcollins@embarqmail.com or text me and it will be posted! Lynn Peck-Collins MILITARY QUILTS Three quilts were received for our military and veterans. Thanks go out to Dorothy (no last name), Gini Breaton, and Pat K. Thanks to Phyllis Prideaux for the four fidget quilts that will be taken to the Alzheimer unit at the Kinston Veterans Home. For our new members, lap and twin bed sized quilts are great for the Veteran's Home and 40"x60" quilts for the stretcher quilts that are sent to the Air Evacuation Squadron in Germany. Fidget quilts are needed for the Veteran's Home as they have recently added a 20 bed Memory unit to the Facility. Bobbie Page 2 of 12

3 NURSING HOME QUILTS We had six donations this month, three fidgets and three lap Quilts. The fidget quilts were from Gail Schiller, and two from Bunny Igoe. The lap quilts were from Kay Amend, Morag Cheesman, and Linda Sullivan. Thank you ladies, these will come in handy at the nursing homes as they turn on the air condition, these quilts are much appreciated all year long. As usual thank you for all you do. Dean Stevens CHILDREN CHARITY QUILTS I received 9 very pretty quits this month from the following members: Ruth Powers 3, Becky Barnes 1, Evelyn Bernhardt 1, Gini Breaton 3, and Kay Amend 1. Thank you very much Thanks, Lorraine Wocel SUNSHINE REPORT Three cards were sent out to people who had surgeries. They were Nancy Hill, Claudia Moran and Mary Jean Tedford. We wish them a speedy recovery. Please let me know if you know of someone who needs a "sunshine" card. Thank you. Pat Phillips BLOCK OF THE MONTH The Block of the Month for the March meeting was Ohio Star. Pat Boni won 16 blocks. Congratulations to Pat! For the April meeting, Dazzling Star will be the "star" block of the month. Two blocks were due in March for the BOM Quilt Project--Ohio Star and Double Star. The blocks on display at the meeting were spectacular! Our raffle drawing was won by Becky Barnes and the prize included a bottle of wine (compliments of Rolayne Schwendy) to celebrate the completion of the 12 outer border sampler blocks, a jelly roll quilt book, assorted quilting supplies, and a quilt motif bookmark (compliments of Marty Dzioba). Congratulations to Becky and a big thank you to Rolayne and Marty for their generous donations. Patterns were handed out for the starpoinsettia blocks as well as the 9-patch blocks which comprise the central medallion of the quilt. Once these are finished for the April meeting, we'll need only to assemble the blocks and add the outer borders--our BOM quilt will be complete! Thanks to all who are participating. Ed Dzioba ( ) and Dorothy Najarian ( ) MEMBERSHIP If there needs to be a correction to your address, phone # or , please let me know and I will put it in our newsletter for the membership to make the change in their directory. Also, if you are not receiving any s for some reason please, please don t wait too long to contact me and let me know. I can t fix it if I don t know about it. CHANGE REMINDER: Diana Rezab at drezab@yahoo.com NOT dianarezab@suddenlink.net New Member: Diane Willis, P.O. Box 1125, Bridgeton, NC 28519, , memawrowe@gmail.com. Diane has lived in this area all of her life. She started quilting a few years ago and has made a few quilts and is looking forward to getting back into doing more quilting. She was introduced to the guild by member Kathern Singleton. There are still Directories sitting and waiting to be picked up. If you have a quilter friend or neighbor that is in our guild maybe they could pick it up for you. Just please remember to let me know that someone has done that for you. Thank you. Diana Rezab LIBRARY No Report 2016 RAFFLE QUILT Raffle ticket sales are doing wonderful! Sales of tickets from the Duffy Gallery at the History Center equaled $788. Our sales at the Farmer's Market on March 5 were $118. Wow! The spot we had allowed for the sun to come in from behind the quilt and it lit up as though it was stained glass! It truly was a Jewel of the Sea. So many wonderful comments and reactions. Tickets really do sell themselves. If you haven't yet signed up for a day at the market please do so. It really is a fun day and you meet so many interesting people. For those who have hesitated to sign-up because of set-up and take down a quilt angel has appeared. Gail Banks of Dancing Threads Studio, a fellow guild member has graciously offered to help set-up and take down the quilt each Saturday from now through September. Gail's booth is located at the front of the market if you need help. Sign -up sheets are available at all guild meetings. The quilt will be travelling to the day of sharing with the Colonial Capital Quilters in Elizabeth City on April 16th. Come join the fun with us. Thank you for all you do and happy quilting! Kathy DONATIONS Bring your hotel/motel soaps, shampoos and lotions to the guild to be given to Religious Community Services (RCS) by Alvina Diello. Or if you choose, you can take your donations directly to RCS. They are located at 919 George Street, New Bern and also are in charge of the homeless shelter and soup kitchen. RCS does not sell anything that is donated to them - they give it to the needy or use it in the soup kitchen. They also take household items as well as furniture. They have a van and will come and pick up large items. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and caring for those less fortunate. Alvina Diello Page 4 of 12
