On Saturday October 27 4:30 to 6:00 you will be gathering, sorting, and properly storing all hardware after the quilt show. Some lifting, bending, and moving the hardware around the Convention Center. Need 4 volunteers for the two sessions. 3.Quilts for Sale Turn In: Monday Oct 22 from 9:00 to 11:00 or 11:00 to 1:00. Mostly seated, some standing, lifting quilts and placing in appropriate size and category containers. Help maintain QFS registration spreadsheet when receiving quilts. Quilts for Sale return: lifting and arranging quilts in alphabetical order by quilter, carrying quilts to the return area from QFS Booth. Volunteers for the Quilt Show As our President announced at the business meeting today: "All hands on deck"! The success of our quilt show has been growing every other year. That is exactly what we wanted to have happen. However that also means we need even more volunteers to make our quilt show even better this year. The decision has been made to improve "traffic flow" at the end of the show when everyone shows up to pick their quilts up. This process has been difficult due to many quilters standing in line along with vendors packing up. The tasks for this effort will hopefully make it a smoother transition so the job has been divided into smaller parts. The result is that we need you more than ever. We have a critical need for certain areas that so far we do not have volunteers yet signed up. I will briefly describe the job for each of these. If you are not able to come to the meeting in September please call me or me. Let's use this list to get going! 1. Special Exhibit Booth: Season of Quilts.Friday, October 26 all time periods for the day are open as well as Saturday October Oct 27. This is a job that is mostly seated. Mainly you will be at a table to discuss with the public the idea of a challenge quilt and the rules attached to it. Since our challenge quilts tie into the theme of the quilt show the challenge quilts booth will have a poster that explains how these quilts were made. 2. Hardware distribution:on Wednesday Oct 24 from 2:00 to 4:00 you will help distribute the hardware needed to hang quilts. Any husbands that wants to volunteer this would be perfect. You need to be able to move 8 and 10 ft. poles and 4 foot long 1" in diameter dowels,3-4 foot chains, and "S" hooks to 4. Quilt Return -Saturday October 27 4:30-6:00 in the Berne Room upstairs.seated. Will take quilt receipts from quilters and give them a numbered index card, noting appropriate number on receipts. Two volunteers needed. This is not a total list of all volunteer possibilities. If coming to the Business meeting in September this will your last time to sign up for volunteer positions. In the October Business Meeting I will be distributing 3 x 5 index cards with a listing of all the positions you have signed up for! Added note - if possible place this with Pam Bonina's article about the Challenge Quilt. If you can't do that then just add it where you can! Note to those entering a Challenge Quilt. At the time you come on Monday Oct 22 you will be asked to fill out a short form describing where the fabric of the season you chose shows up on your quilt and the geometric shape associated with that season is located. We will check all quilts turned in for the challenge quilt. Looking for guild members who are interested in learning to assemble our Quilt Show Prize Ribbons. Please contact <shannonmarisue@gmail.com> to be included in this "glue gun"adventure! Thanks Page 7 of 12
