Pleasant Quilting Company November and December 2018 Newsletter Dear Quilters, November really snuck up on me...did it to you also?...anyway here is the newsletter listing the classes for November and December. You will be able to see which are the new classes and the ongoing ones. You can read about our Holiday Extravaganza Open House which will be on Saturday, November 17th, from 10:00-3:00. I haven't counted up yet the number of projects the elves are working on for you to see, but I will let you know before the big day arrives. I hope you will receive some inspiration that day and of course an enjoyable time! (If you happen to make a purchase, you will be able to sneak your bags in the house while your hubby is hunting as it's the first day of deer hunting season!!!) We are always closed Sundays and Mondays- additional closings are Thursday, Nov. 22nd, and Tuesday, Dec. 25th, Wednesday, Dec. 26th and Tuesday, January 1st. Enjoy our extended fall temperatures! 2 Hand Embroidery Club ONGOING & NEW CLASS 2nd Thursday of the month, 10:00-3:00 You asked, we listened, we took action. Many of you enthusiastically expressed an interest in having a hand embroidery club, much like our Sew Along Days, when you can come and work on your own embroidery projects. Well, you've got it! Mary Lane has agreed to be the leader. This is not a teaching class and is targeted to those who have basic embroidery skills. So, choose your dates, sign up, come along with your embroidery project and enjoy a day of stitching, a gab fest (probably) and laughter, I'm sure! Teacher: Mary Lane Monthly Class Fee: $7.50 Hosta Mixer NEW CLASS 2nd Friday of the month for 4 months, starting Nov. 9th, 10:00-1:00 Have you wanted to make one of Judy Niemeyer s beautiful Hosta quilts? This is the class for you! We will be working on several different patterns, including Rainbow Hosta, Fire Island Hosta, Lakeshore Hosta, Sea Holly, Snowy River Hosta, and Lily Pond. Choose your favorite! Come join the fun and create a stunning quilt for your home. Teacher: Karen Bryant Class Fee: $60.00 (50% due at sign-up = $ Remaining balance collected Jan.) Faux Thimbleberries Tuesday, Nov. 13th Fusible Workshop ONGOING & NEW CLASS 2nd Wednesday of EVERY month, 10:00-1:00, Nov. 14th Mt. Pleasant has been teaching the beautiful McKenna Ryan wallhangings for years. It seems to have evolved into many different wallhangings being worked on during the class as gals are all at different stages and different McKenna Ryan projects. This doesn't phase Pat at all as she can multi-task and help each person no matter what stage they're at. If you've always wanted to try the fusible appliqué technique, choose a McKenna Ryan or any other fusible appliqué pattern that you love and sign up for class Teacher: Pat Lockwood Monthly Class Fee: $7.50 Around We Go Thursday, Nov. 15th Holiday Extravaganza Saturday, Nov. 17th 10:00-3:00 Read all about this event in the Special Events Section. Summer Solstice NEW CLASS 3rd Tuesday of the month for 4 months, starting Nov. 20th, 10:00-1:00 Judy Niemeyer has a beautiful new version of her gorgeous Summer Solstice quilt! This lovely pattern features a lone star center and New York Beauty blocks. If you would like to learn Judy s techniques, this is a good place to start. We will cover getting your pattern and fabric organized, cutting the templates, and sewing the units. This is a fun quilt to make. If you prefer a smaller quilt, you can make Twinkle Star instead. She has chenilled a Christmas panel wallhanging, 3 pillows, a set of placemats, and a bath mat. You can choose any one of these projects for class and Barb will show you all the tricks! They will make great gifts for someone or for yourself! Teacher: Barb Miller Class Fee: $25.00 Enchanted Garden Wednesday, Nov. 28th Scrapbooking NEW CLASS Thursday, Nov. 29th, 10:00-9:00 Barb is not a scrap booker, but she knows many of you are. There have been inquiries if the classroom would be available to meet...the answer is yes! Come and scrapbook 'till your hearts content! (You can order out lunch if you wish.) Barb knows scrap bookers have a lot of "stuff." She'll be anxious to see all of it! Call to reserve your spot! 4 December A Frosty Night NEW CLASS 1st Saturday of the month for 2 months starting December 1st, 10:00-3:00 Now who doesn't love snowmen? This fun winter pattern: A Frosty Night designed by Erica Plank of Unsewn Hands will make a great cozy quilt for the coming winter months! 6 Sew Along Dates If you would like to Sew Along" with your friends or friends to be, pick and choose your Sew Along date(s). Come and sew, talk, laugh, order out lunch if you choose-just have a day away. You will need to sign up though. Cost: $7.50 Dec. 6th, Dec. 21st, Dec. 22nd, and Dec. 29th. Special Events Holiday Extravaganza Open House Saturday, November 17th 10:00-3:00 Come alone... bring your friends... just come... and see what the elves have been up to! I hope you will be inspired, feel festive and enjoy yourselves. You will see samples of gifts and home decor. Each attendee will receive free patterns and a little refreshment.
