1 Mt. Pleasant Quilting Company SEPTEMBER DECEMBER 2015 Dear Quilters, Where has this year flown to? I can't believe I am writing the last newsletter for 2015! But I guess, if you're busy time flies! Thank you for keeping Mt. Pleasant busy. Quilt Away Weekend: Oct. 2nd-4th. Balance due Sept. 4th. Some availability left. Call or if you are interested. Quilt Away Weekend: Nov. 13th - 15th. Balance due Oct. 9th. Full, but can still call the shop if you re interested and be put on the waiting list. Life gets in the way sometimes, so we have "Newbies" at every retreat. Sept. 30th, 10:00-1:00, OR Wednesdays, Sept 2nd & Sept. 30th, 6:00-9:00 This class would be a good place to start if you have never sewn a Judy Niemeyer foundation paper pieced project before. You will learn the basic techniques and skills to complete this tablerunner. Hopefully, after taking this class you will never feel intimidated again when opening up one of her patterns. Teacher: Barb Miller Class Fee: FREE Fusible Raw Edge Applique Workshop - the McKenna Ryan Way 2nd Wednesday of EVERY month, 10:00-1:00 Mt. Pleasant has been teaching the beautiful McKenna Ryan wallhangings for years. It seems to have evolved into many different wallhangings being worked on during the class as gals are all at different stages and different McKenna Ryan projects. This doesn't phase Pat at all as she can multi-task and help each person no matter what stage they're at. If you've always wanted to try this technique, choose a McKenna Ryan pattern that you love and sign up for class. The next one some are going to do is the McKenna's "Halloweenies" project. (You can stay the whole day if you wish, but Pat's responsibilities end at 1:00) Teacher: Pat Lockwood Class Fee: $7.50 Stripology Technique Class Tuesday, Sept. 29th, 10:00-1:00, OR Tuesday, Sept. 29th, 2:00-5:00, OR Tuesday, Sept. 29th, 6:00-9:00 This technique class will show you how to use the Stripology ruler. I absolutely love this ruler as I can cut half inches, whole inches, quarter inches and three-quarter inches very quickly and up to 10 layers at a time with a new sharp blade! (I cut a log cabin quilt in 30 minutes). Talk about fast! Anyway... I have made 5 out of the 6 patterns from the Stripology 2 book using this ruler. The book is great as it has 6 patterns with 3 sizes each for a total of 18 projects-all using 1 1/2" strips. The sizes are mini, tablerunner and crib. I will demo the ruler in class and you can choose which project you want to make or simply learn how to use the ruler. Teacher: Barb Miller Class Fee: FREE with purchase of ruler $10 Refundable Deposit to Hold Your Spot Cat'itude Technique Class Tuesday, Oct. 6th, 10:00-1:00, OR Tuesday, Oct. 6th, 2:00-5:00, OR Tuesday, Oct. 6th, 5:30-8:30 Nancy will demo the Creative Grids Cat's Cradle Tool which lets you quickly, easily and accurately make cat's cradle units in 6 different sizes. You will never cut a single triangle, yet you'll always get perfect triangles as an end result. All cutting is slightly oversized so that you can trim down after stitching for perfect cat's cradle units every time. Even a beginner will get perfect results! The book 'Cat'itude has 8 patterns with sizes from runner to queen. You can choose a pattern to do or just learn the technique. Teacher: Nancy Hyde Class Fee: $15.00 with purchase of ruler

Teacher: Audrey Andrus Class Fee: $20.00 Winter Wonderland Tablerunner/Wallhanging OR Captain's Wheel Saturdays: Oct. 24th, Nov. 28th, & Jan. 30th, 10:00-3:00 Winter Wonderland Tablerunner/Wallhanging: You've requested...here it is! This Judy Niemeyer foundation paper pieced tablerunner/wallhanging is bursting with three snowflakes in the center. Use you own decor color scheme. No previous Judy Niemeyer experience required as it's a great project to learn the Judy Niemeyer foundation paper piecing process. OR... Captain's Wheel will appeal to the "Salty Sailor" in you. This also is a great project to learn the Judy Niemeyer foundation paper piecing process. It finishes at 79" x 79". No previous Judy Niemeyer experience needed. You will learn how to use 2 Log Cabin tools: the 8" Curvy Log Cabin Tool and the 8" Log Cabin tool. Many of you have these tools already, so you can put them to good use in this class. If not, you will receive a 20% discount on the purchase of the tools. This wallhanging will handsomely decorate your home for the holidays, or will make a great gift. Teacher: Diane Scott Class Fee: $35.00 Class Policy Because our classes fill so quickly and have waiting lists, I have found it necessary to initiate the following policy: For BOM's (Block of Month), ROM's (Row of Month) or TOM (Technique of Month) classes, 50% of the total payment is due at signup. Remaining balance is due midway through the classes. For all other classes - total payment is due at signup.

4 MT. PLEASANT QUILTING COMPANY Page 4 Masquerade Saturday, October 31st, 10:00-3:00 In this class you can choose to make a table runner, a small wall quilt or a wall hanging. All three are I ncluded in the pattern, and are made using the Studio 180 Design Rapid Fire Petite Hunter s Star tool. It s a quick and easy way to make a hunter s star block using strip pieced construction, which means no Y seams. Pick out a border print and then some coordinating fabrics and create any or all of these pieces. This class is great for all levels of quilters from beginners to experts. Come and spend the day with Debbie who is a Certified Studio 180 Design Instructor and learn this great tool. Teacher: Debbie Thomas Class Fee: $35.00 A Trio of Quiltlets for Tabletop or Mantle Wednesday, Nov. 4th 10:00-1:00, OR Wednesday, Nov. 4th, 6:00-9:00 The 3 pieces of the trio quiltlets measure 4" x 9" each and hang on a three sectioned tabletop quilt rack. The trio: "Snowmen" will decorate your home for the upcoming winter season. Kit available. Teacher: Shirley Ingles Class Fee: $15.00 PJ/Lounge Pants Friday, November 6th, 10:00-3:00 Don't we love that comfy feeling when we have on our pj or lounge pants? I know I'm going to make some for my grandboys because they have the fabric already picked out! They will make great gifts and no traveling to the mall needed. 5 Page 5 Stack -n-whack Wednesday, Jan. 6th, 10:00-3:00 This class sure has been a favorite one! Barb has taught it to over 500 gals since we opened the shop. Once you take this class, you will never look at fabric the same way again. You need only one fabric to make the 12 different star blocks, plus a background and accent fabric. It s exciting to see how each block evolves into a new design. You ll be oohing and aahing! Just you wait and see! Teacher: Barb Miller Class Fee: $20.00 Prickly Pinecones Fridays, Jan 8th, Feb. 12th, & Mar. 4th, 10:00-1:00, OR Saturdays, Jan 9th, Feb. 6th, & Mar.26th, 10:00-1:00 Who doesn't love pinecones? Prickly Pinecones is one of Judy Niemeyer's newest patterns. It has the words tree skirt in the title..so you certainly can cut a hole in the center, or place the tree on top or just use it as a wall hanging or table topper. Mine is going to be on the table all winter long because of the pinecones. You will learn Judy's latest innovative technique: the basted registration point. You'll never misalign large units again using this approach. You'll also do curved piecing and have perfect floating points. No previous Judy Niemeyer experience needed. (You can stay the remainder of the day and sew if you wish but Barb's responsibilities will end at 1:00.) Teacher: Barb Miller Class Fee: $30.00 Bali Wedding Star 3rd Saturday of the month starting Jan. 16th for 12 months 10:00-3:00 Join us and learn how to create this beautiful quilt! Judy Niemeyer's design creates a gorgeous throw which will become a treasured heirloom. (You can make it larger if desired.) Use the Hoffman Bali Pops packs made especially for this project, or put together your own color palette. Experience with paper piecing required.
