Pleasant Quilting Company Month of June Newsletter 2018 Dear Quilters, I want to start out by telling you about our two Special Events this month and then follow with our new class listings for June - also listing the Ongoing classes too! Our Annual School House Event will be Saturday, June 16th, 10:00-3:00. The tent will be out front as usual with all of the newest items from Quilt Market and also items that are new to Mt. Pleasant. I can't tell you or even give you a hint as to what we'll have under that tent, because I'm writing this on May 12th, and Quilt Market isn't until May 18th - 20th. I fly to Portland, Oregon on May 16th and return on the 21st. I'll be giving you hints and more info after I return. I can tell you though, my sales rep, Kevin Yanni, from Checker Distributors will be here showing the latest patterns, notions and books. He's great eye candy too! (Did I just say that? Shhh...!) We always have sales that day on the latest things from Quilt Market too! So, stay tuned for when I return. Our Second Special Event is The Great New York Shop Hop - a La Carte! Tuesday, June 5 - Saturday, June 16th - normal business hours per each shop. It's new and sounds like a lot of fun! You get to choose which Loop of shops you want to do. You can do the Loop S Shops, or the Loop N Shops, or both loops if you choose, or choose a combination of ANY 12 shops or all 16 shops. You have 2 weeks to make your choices. All bolted regularly priced fabric will be 15% off. You will also receive 5 FREE patterns when you pick up your passport at your first stop. Listed below are the shops and prizes. Until next time... 2 JN Potpourri Tuesday, June 5th Scrappy Stash Busters Club - NEW CLASS 1st Wed of the month starting June 6, 10:00-3:00 (No class on July 4th) Everyone has scraps!! Many of us don't know what to do with them. Come, join other scrappy stash busters. Sew your own scrappy projects, get inspiration from others, trade scraps, enjoy the friendships, laugh, - just have a great time! Teacher: None Monthly Class Fee: $7.50 Hand Embroidery BOM Thursday, June 7th Scrapbooking - NEW CLASS Friday, June 8th, 10:00-4:30 Barb is not a scrap booker, but she knows many of you are. There have been inquiries if the classroom would be available to meet...the answer is yes! Come and scrapbook 'till your hearts content! (You can order out lunch if you wish.) Barb knows scrap bookers have a lot of "stuff." She'll be anxious to see all of it! Call to reserve your spot! Teacher: None Fee: $7.50 Friday Night Finishers & NEW CLASS 2nd Friday of the month, 6:00-9:00 Want to have a night out with your friends or want to make new ones? Bring any project/projects and sew, talk, and laugh! Teacher: Jackie Roberts Fee: $7.50 Faux Thimbleberries Tuesday, June 12th Fusible Workshop - ONGOING & NEW CLASS 2nd Wednesday of EVERY month, 10:00-1:00 Mt. Pleasant has been teaching the beautiful McKenna Ryan wallhangings for years. It seems to have evolved into many different wallhangings being worked on during the class as gals are all at different stages and different McKenna Ryan projects. This doesn't phase Pat at all as she can multi-task and help each person no matter what stage they're at. If you've always wanted to try the fusible applique technique, choose a McKenna Ryan or any other fusible applique pattern that you love and sign up for class.. (You can stay the whole day if you wish, but Pat's responsibilities end at 1:00) Teacher: Pat Lockwood Monthly Class Fee: $7.50

3 Hand Embroidery Club - ONGOING & NEW CLASS 2nd Thursday of EVERY month, 10:00-3:00 You asked, we listened, we took action. Many of you enthusiastically expressed an interest in having a hand embroidery club, much like our Sew Along Days, when you can come and work on your own embroidery projects. Well, you've got it! Mary Lane has agreed to be the leader. This is not a teaching class and is targeted to those who have basic embroidery skills. So, choose your dates, sign up, come along with your embroidery project and enjoy a day of stitching, a gab fest (probably) and laughter, I'm sure! Leader: Mary Lane Monthly Class Fee: $7.50 School House ANNUAL SPECIAL EVENT Saturday, June 16th, 10:00-3:00 Refer to write-up in Dear Quilters letter at the beginning of this newsletter. BOM Enchanted Garden Wednesday, June 20th Around We Go - NEW CLASS 3rd Thursday of the month for 6 months, starting June 21st. 10:00-3:00 EXCEPTIONS: 4th Thursday in June and September This pattern uses 5 Creative Grids tools: Cat's Cradle, Strippy Stars, 6" Square on Square Tool, and 6" and 8" Log Cabin. (Many of you have these tools already and have asked for another class to use these tools. If you don't have these tools, you would need to buy one a month.) This 76" x 76" quilt is gorgeous! It starts with a center block of log cabins, and then you build from there. Each border or row around the center is different...much like a round robin. There are a total of 6 borders or rows around the center...hence...6 different teachers- a different teacher each month. Fun- right? You need a background and 4 different colors ranging from light to medium light, to medium to dark. We can kit the colors for you if you tell us what colorway you love. 4 Frozen Fountain Friday, June 22nd Marzipan - NEW CLASS Tuesday, June 26th, 10:00-3:00 The next installment from The Cake Mix Quilt Book Volume One is Marzipan!! This quilt is made using Cake Mix Recipe #4 and Layer Cakes. Like all the patterns in this book, you will use 10 precut squares to form half square triangles. By placing the half square triangle units differently, you create a whole new quilt. This pattern is used by selecting 8 fabrics (4 sets of 1 light and 1 dark). This is a large quilt ( 92 ½ by 92 ½ ) but can always be altered to fit your needs. This is a tasty treat for beginners and experienced quilters alike. Keep watch for the next delicious installment. Teacher: Karen Bryant Monthly Class Fee: $7.50 "Sew Along" If you would like to Sew Along" with your friends or friends to be, pick and choose your Sew Along date(s). Come and sew, talk, laugh, order out lunch if you choose-just have a day away. You will need to sign up though. Cost: $7.50 The time will be 10:00 4:00. Dates are: June 1st, June 2nd, June 9th, June 19th, June 23rd, & June 30th.
